You are certainly onto something. Perfection is what is so often presented as 'the norm' in the detailing world, but the fact is the percentage of cars that need 'perfect' are few. The most (financially) successful detailers out there aren't posting pictures of Ferrari's with 50/50 paint correction shots... the real 'meat' is in what you described.

Making things better, protecting an investment, and offering a service at an approachable price with convenience puts you into a segment with a MUCH larger potential customer base than selling 100% perfect for thousands of dollars. Hope your son and his friend enjoy a lot of success!

    Hi All,

I'm new to the forum but not new to Adam's. As soon as my shipment of products arrive, I'm going to do a good spring cleaning of my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. It's my daily driver and the paint is in good condition. I am planning to do the following, any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Wash
    Clay bar
    Wash again
    Revive Hand Polish
    HGG
    Brilliant Glaze
    Buttery Paste Wax
Super VRT all plastic and rubber surfaces

Is there a thread on recommended processes for different purposes? Such as newer daily drivers vs garage queens vs older daily drivers? That would be very helpful.

I am scared to use a machine, for fear of screwing up my paint, but I know I'll eventually need to do a better paint correction than I can do by hand. Any suggestions on how to get comfortable with that process?

    Thanks a lot!

    Phil,

Not sure if this may help you but I use a 4 litre hand sprayer (garden variety) filled with distilled water to combat any dust/dirt/pollen which may settle during the drying phase of a rinseless wash. I find it to be good insurance on windy/dusty days or even working in basements and carparks of apartment complexes where running water is distant.

We get pine pollen here like crazy, and thanks to the dry climate it seems to just swirl around like dust everywhere for months. Just part of the deal - even if you move there is some kind "issue" no matter where you go. If it's not pollen it'll be something else.

Typically this is the result of two things -

Polishing the the machine not flat against the finish and pulling the pads off the plate by the foam rather than breaking the velcro loose by sliding your finger between the pad and the plate.

The off axis polishing allows the plate to dig into the foam while its compressed, which starts a cut, then the act of pulling the pad off by pulling on the foam causes it to rip further.

Thanks Joe. Unfortunately my garage is not a space I can use to work on my car... So no access to halogen lights.

I think the other challenge is my paint is in pretty good shape as is. And with no obvious swirls, scratches, etc... I'm just trying to dial up the depth, shine and gloss.

Your other points are well taken and I will heed your advice. Thanks.

So it was nice out today and the Caddy needed a good clean up.  And I got a chance finally to use some of the new stuff Adam's came out with recently.
So I started off with a two bucket wash with the new Wash/Rinse buckets and connector.  Having both buckets connected is the way to go.  Makes it so much simpler to move around the car.  (wife is the photographer)

After filling up the buckets with the pink car wash (don't have the blue yet, but it's ordered), I soaped the baby up with the foam gun.  The pink makes plenty of suds, so I can imagine how good the blue's going to be.

Next came the wash with the new Wash Wedge.  All I can say about this new sponge is WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG TO COME OUT WITH THIS?  I'm 68 with arthritis in my shoulders and back and this thing is so much easier to use for me than the wash pads. A whole lot lighter when wet, and it sucks up the soap and water and whisks away the dirt!

So once I got her body all nice and clean......it was time to do the wheels.  Yes, I do a dedicated bucket for the wheels.  Sprayed the wheels down with All Purpose Cleaner then scrubbed deep into the wheels with the old wheel woolies,  hit the lug nuts with the lug nut brush, and then sprayed down the tires with more APC and scrubbed with the blue tire scrub brush.

So now that the car is all nice and clean, it's time to pull it into the garage and try out the new H20 GG.

I wet the car down good first, then started on the roof.

Wiped it down with a damp double soft towel, then went over it with a dry double soft.

I did the glass, sunroof, and any plastic on the car with it too.  Didn't matter. This stuff is amazing.

I finished off the rest of the car and let me tell you, I can't be happier. This stuff is so simple to use, gives great shine, the paint is smooth as glass, and I can see where it's going to be a BIG hit for Adam's. If you didn't get it yet, get an order in. You're going to want a gallon or FIVE!

AmyAtAdamsAustralia reacted to ledger64 in HGG Review
First use tonight of the H2O Guard and Gloss (HGG) from the show this weekend on my Daily Driver with is a 2004 Duramax.  I have a new favorite product!!!  After a quick 2 bucket wash I applied the HGG one panel at a time with a wetdouble soft towel followed by a dry double soft towel.  The product goes on and instantly starts working to activate and displace the water.  The drying and levelling with the second towel was effortless and leaves a nice glossy shine.  The whole process took approx. half an hour including the wash.

    A few notes:
    -  As I moved from panel to panel I found i sprayed less product as the applicator towel was primed with product from the previous section

    - the smell,  I have nicknamed it Super Grape is phenomenal.  if you don't want to smell like grape for the next couple hours then i suggest wearing gloves.

    - this week is going to be rain here in CT so it should be a good test to see the results.  I will update at the end of the week.

The only real question I have is in regards to my towels that I used.  I currently have them sitting in a bucket with some APC.  Is this enough to remove the HGG or is there a different process that I should do to clean the towels?  Is it ok to mix these towels in with other towels when I was them?

Didn't get a chance to take some pics as it was getting dark after I finished my clean up but ill try to grab some tomorrow

Like most have already said an hourly rate should cover you. Another method is to charge a dollar amount per foot. You should also factor in travel time of a total of 4 hours, that should be factored into your quote. No need to itemize it, just incorporate it into your rate.
