I was there at Normandy in 2009... that spot is one of the most humbling places on earth -- just trying to comprehend what those guys did there boggles the mind. Here I am eating popcorn and walking around making fun of the harry potter fans standing in line for the last book. It was about midnight in Anchorage...still light! Here I am in front of Snowzilla. My sister, who took the picture, said I didn't move for probably ten minutes. This was taken at low tide and probably 50 yards out from the sea wall that still had the concrete machine gun emplacement. It was at least a 150 to 200 yard adavance over the open beach........ This was the Canadian beach. The two British beaches, Gold and Sword were much the same. Utah as well. Omaha?
