We took all of the Roosevelt's ammo when they came back from that deployment:

My daughter was on board while you were doing that as she helps man the reactors. Now the TR is in dry dock undergoing RCOH.

There were probably times then when we were each in our respective engine rooms only a couple hundred feet apart. Small world...

All of a carrier's ammo?

That must have been one mothering long RAS. I sailed as the senior sonar tech on HMCS Preserver for two years. Fun times being the gas station instead of the car! :jester:

Yep, two and a half days alongside each other, starting early in the morning and ending in the evening. And that's both CONREP and a two bird VERTREP all at the same time. I'm sure it was a long couple of days for the helmsmen...and then even once we broke away at the end of the day there were still guys working late to get all the bombs off our deck and down into the magazines. Once we had bombs onboard though we got a 10% pay bonus.

Here's a pic of me at the US Military Cemetery in Normandy (sovereign US soil, btw) and another of Omaha beach at low tide -- imagine storming across that, under intense cross-fire, while carrying all your gear. Amazing. :patriot:

I don't think I ever contributed to this thread, so here I am four years ago inside an engine. You can see the connecting rod and crankshaft counterweights behind me.

Nope, a 8,464.6L inline 7 cylinder that puts out 28,000hp at a whopping 102 rpm :jester: (That's a 516,540 cubic inch displacement for those wondering)

Great rims! which ones are they? and, ever make it to SATX ? I'm sure the Camaro club wouldn't mind a visit ;)

Thanks..they are the Cor Velocity 4. They don't let me out of Houston much, lol. I'll have to meet up with the SA group the next time I'm through.
