Maybe you could convert one of your friends over to Adam's products and then split gallon refills with them.

We actually did 32 and 64oz at one time.  Thing is, it's hard to justify, when gallons are so inexpensive, compared to 16oz...

Also, the larger the bottle, the more often we get complaints of product going bad.   One winter, or one summer in a hot garage, and many products will change color, consistency, or separate.

Here's the kicker:  Buy car care products like you buy any perishable food item.  Buy what you need.  Technology is improving so rapidly, and either our formulas, and ours are constantly improving.

Unless you are a detailer, or have a collection of vehicles, buy enough goods to get you through a few months.  The next great products are being formulated now, and trust me, we hear customers say, "I wish that I hadn't bought a gallon of the old stuff!!!"  as soon as the new stuff is announced.

Chemical technology, microfiber technology, and nearly every other thing in our industry is on the move, and it's getting better every day!

So while you might save a few bucks buying enough stuff for a year, the product will likely be replaced with an improved formula in 3-4 months.

Hope I'm making sense here, and if you are running out every month, buy more.  Otherwise, buy quarterly, as besides the improvement in technology, the winter is awful on chemicals.

Biggest takeaway from this conversation:  Don't wait to use up your 2-5 year old store bought products, they are ready for the trash TODAY.   They were $5-$10 new, and when we think that people are waiting to use them up, we chuckle, as they expired a long time ago, and chemical technology has improved 10X since then!

Junior reacted to AmyAtAdamsAustralia in FAQ - "How do I use Detailing Clay"
In this thread we will cover off how you can use detailing clay to restore a finish and the benefits from using detailing clay on your car.

Remove contaminants from the paint to result in a clean surface

The concept of using detailing clay may be new to you and you might be thinking, “What is detailing clay and what can detailing clay do for my car?”

    Detailing Clay is designed to;
Remove contaminants that washing alone cannot remove (industrial fallout, brake dust, tree sap, light water spotting)
Prepare the painted surface for paint correction also it can be used on glass.

How Does Auto Detailing Clay Work?

Before taking to the vehicle with a Clay Bar ask yourself "Does the vehicle need claying?" Read on further to justify putting in the extra work. Detailing clay is used with a clay lubricant such as Adam's Detail Spray. This combination allows the clay to glide over surface of your paint and collects the particles embedded in the clear coat. Used properly, detailing clay is completely safe and nonabrasive.

    What Does Detailing Clay Remove?

If your car is brand new or a classic and not kept in a climate controlled bubble your vehicle is under constant assault from the elements. This will definitely vary if your car is a show car with the occasional outing vs. a daily driver. Brake dust, industrial fallout, acid rain deposits and rail dust all can adhere to your vehicle. These contaminants often contain metal particulates. These contaminants then oxidize, and they allow rust to spread beneath the clear coat. Detailing clay removes these contaminants in order to keep the paint healthy and vibrant.

Detailing Clay also removes stubborn sap, tar, and bug guts. However you will always want to try washing with a high lubricity car shampoo first (Adam's Car Shampoo or Rinseless Wash) try the least aggressive method first. Detailing clay works wonder on glass as well. Try some the next time you’re washing your windows. You’ll be amazed at the results!

    Do You Need To Clay?

As mentioned in other threads try the baggie test: This a simple test that will indicate whether or not you need to clay. Wash and dry your vehicle, put a plastic sandwich bag over your hand and very very lightly rub your fingertips over the paint. If it feels gritty or rough, your paint is contaminated.

Use a high quality detailing clay bar, like Adam's Detailing Clay Bar, and a clay lubricant to clean your paint before applying wax or polish. Waxes and paint sealants will adhere evenly to clean paint and the shine will be more uniform and vibrant.

Clay is available in 200g bars. On average, a vehicle will need to be clayed once to twice a year.

NOTE: To optimize both the quality of your claying and the clay's useful life, avoid soap and water as a lubricant. They will prematurely deteriorate today’s clay compounds. Use only clay lubricants. A good clay kit, like Adam's Detailing Clay Kit, contain both the detailing clay and it’s corresponding lubricant.

    Follow these steps:

    Wash and dry your vehicle.
Spray a small area with clay lubricant
Gently rub the clay bar back and forth across the wet area. It will grab at first. This means that it is pulling contaminants out of the paint. When it glides
    freely, the paint is clean.
Wipe the area with a microfiber towel and use the clay lubricant to remove any clay residue. Rub your fingers across the paint now; it should be as smooth as glass. If it’s not, repeat the process. Reshape the clay bar as needed to expose a clean surface. Keep the clay well-lubricated.
Continue these steps until you’ve clayed the entire vehicle.
Store the clay bar in its original case if possible, or in an airtight plastic bag. Spray it with lubricant to keep it moist.

Overall, claying your vehicle is an easy process and will assist in restoring shine followed by a good polish and sealant/wax combo. If you apply common sense and don't rush the result will be perfect everytime.

On another note, there are many other 'alternatives' to an actual clay bar. These alternative come in clay mitts, clay towels, clay pads etc. We have tried and tested these products and found that each have their pro's and con's. Some products induced heavy marring of the paint, others required heavy pressure etc. With all things detailing, it has to be fun, fit your budget and most of all you have to be comfortable using the product on your pride and joy. If you've found your claying solution and love it and it gives you the results you want, stick with it!

If you have any questions or maybe want us to cover off something in this thread in more detail. Let us know.

You hit it right on the head my friend (in bold), a true dedicated customer service person knows this is the way to keeping business and forging a good reputation.  Too often nowadays in our sales-focused career society the corporate model would have you doing the opposite (over promising) which more often than not equates to bigger customer service issues and loss of profits and customers in the long haul.

I always give my customers the honest truth, even if it may not be what they want to hear, if I can honestly get it done in a week I will say that, and yet I will be sure to let them know to be pleasantly surprised when I get it done sooner!  Customers do appreciate honesty and I must say Adam's is some of the most honest I've ever seen, great service culture Adam to your team keep up the good work!

You expect every company to tell you when they're changing a product or stop selling it while reformulating it? I'm pretty sure there are many products you have used from many companies where you weren't even aware something was changed. As for the comment about the sales, this post is about saving customers from buying PFP if it's unnecessary...which would hurt sales even more.
I agree there are products on the market that cut better, but if you like PCP why wouldn't you buy it anymore?

As for the Cyclo, sure, it's not as powerful as other machines out there. However, everyone has a choice as to what machine they want to use. If you don't want to buy a Cyclo, don't, buy whatever machine works for you. They advocate the Cyclo because it's made in the USA and is a good primary machine for a novice or for a profesional's secondary machine. As for the machine I believe you're referring to, I don't believe it was from profits, it was due to the fact that the company started producing their product in a different country.

Everyone is suggesting Wheel Woolies but they are super expensive and don't have nearly as many uses as a brush thats a cheaper price. I'm for a low profile.

Agreed I think I may modify mine and buy another or use the wheel woolie. Just thinking the wheel woolie might get destroyed on some of the rough surfaces in the fender wells i have come across.

Not sure if anyone else agrees but I think a low profile and maybe an angled fender brush woul be awesome. With the way many newer cars are, you cannot fit the standard fender brush in to clean the fenders. Maybe we could cut/modify the standard brush down some? Either way, I think it would be a good option.

Looks like 3 in 1 oil is sufficient and blowing it out with an air can if you don't have an air compressor should work fine.  Instructions say it should be oiled after every 8 hours of use.  Page 10.  3 in 1 oil can be picked up anywhere and comes in a black and white rectangular can with a red spout.

Junior reacted to Team Adam's in FAQ - How do I maintain my Cyclo?
Now that we have a good number of these tools out in the world, some of them are likely due for some preventative maintenance to protect your investment.

Basic maintenance is very simple and only takes a few minutes:
Every 2-3 polishing sessions, add a few drops of light machine oil (like 3-in-1) into the bronze bushing on the top of the housing Every 2-3 polishing sessions, blow out the motor housing with compressed air There are some more maintenance items as your machine starts to accumulate more hours, like changing out the carbon brushes.  This is also quick and painless and will keep the machine running in tip top shape for years to come!

Just wanted to share my positive experience with Adam's. Back around February I ordered the details essentials kit. When I had ordered, a lot of the items were on back order so it didn't ship until March which is understandable. Well, Adam's got me the full kit and I was excited when I got it as its the first thing I had ever bought.

Well just over a couple days ago I get an email stating that Adam's had shipped a product. I was confused as I didn't order anything and thought it was a mess up on their end. Well, a couple days after I recieve the email I'm cleaning my motorcycle and the Fed Ex truck pulls up. I again was conufsed and blamed my wife for buying something behind my back! I then saw the Adam's tape on the box. I was like I didn't order anything but I'll check it out.

I then opened up the box and it was basically another essentials kit. I didn't know if it was by accident or not so I emailed Adam's about it. This was the response I got:

"Wow, thank you Patrick, and our peeps are a little off, apparently!  We’ll get this sorted out, and I apologize for the hassle.  Indeed, we have had a rough go of a new inventory system, which has made for many shipping delays.
Keep the kit, and thank you for your kindness!"

Just for the hassle of the first kit being delayed it was made up with a second kit which I never really expected in the first place. To top it off, I got american made mints which were fantastic!

So thumbs up to Adam's! I'm definitely a new customer for life because their customer service can't be matched!

IMO, from what I've seen and heard, the nano-skin bars are better for the person working on paint every day as a job/career.   Adams has NEVER marketed themselves to the the "Pro" so I doubt you'll see them here.

Adam's has stated they are not interested in selling the Nanoskin clay alternatives before, and their efforts are to downsize and streamline the product line this year so not sure if they will carry the carpet brushes for the cyclo.

For what its worth if you also have a PC at home you can get a carpet brush for it as well.

    Alright here goes...

I ordered several Kwazar's and just got these guys in today. Once I opened the infamous Adam's box I found 9 Kwazar's packed neatly inside.

My initial impressions of these guys are definitely a quality and well built sprayer. At first I was hesitant to order them thinking mostly that how good can a spray bottle really be? Well let's be honest here this is hands down the best sprayer that I have ever come into contact with. The biggest disadvantage to me for these sprayers is now the won't fit inside the bottle holder in my Adam's detailing cart.

I haven't yet had the chance to try the sprayers out with anything other than the original Detail Spray on my MacBook but I am definitely sold on these. The adjustment from a light mist to a nice stream is something that will come in handy no matter what product you'll use in these guys.

Tomorrow I will be completing a full two bucket wash with these and will update you all on my findings with other products.
