This car was bought as a gift from a husband to his wife back in January.  She loved the car so much that she decided she was always going to keep it clean...by periodically taking it through an automatic car wash.....doh!  So now she's getting surprised AGAIN by having her car fully detailed by yours truly while out of town for a few days. Needless to say it will never again see the inside of a wash tunnel

    Featured Adam's Products:
    Adam's APC
    Adam's Super VRT

Car didn't show up until late, so night wash it is!

    Final result on interior:

Wheel faces & barrels were cleaned up & coated.  Tires were done with Adam's Super VRT:

The rest of these are post-correction shots.  All correction work was done with the Rupes System:

    Thanks for looking!

They don't - but they're fast as hell and I think are much better suited for those who are detailing for $$ because of that time savings.  I knocked out an SUV this afternoon inside of 20 minutes (write-up coming soon!).  And if you combine them with a chemical decontamination like Iron-X, their performance vs. clay evens out.

SHOULD being the operative word - but when "they" are a fast talking service manager and more than likely non-English speaking laborers, you're not going to get a whole lot of "should".

Sucks to learn a $400 lesson, but such is life.  Ryan, I would still personally book an appointment with Jeff - he's insanely good at what he does and it's worth the wait!

I have tried a couple of the clay alternatives and was not satisfied.  I don't think they do as nice a job as traditional clay

Just for the paint maybe 10-15 minutes - leave the soap on there until you're ready to rinse the whole car.  You can add a bit of Rinseless Wash into your mix for some extra water softening, too!

Most new tires come with some advisory that you are not to use dressing products on them for so many miles. Check your tire manufacturer's info. I have personally seen these warnings accompanying tires I have purchased from Hankook, BF Goodrich, Goodyear, Yokohama and Falken.

If these are new tires, what you might be seeing is mold release buildup and not old dressing...

Baron_Von_Awesome got a reaction from ICE515 in Pressure Wash Gun vs Foam Wash Gun
Just to take this discussion a bit further, you also want to be minful of what kind of car you are foaming.  My general rule works like this: For modern, daily driver type cars I have no reservations using the power washer/cannon combo:

For high-end & exotic vehicles that do not have a reputation for being leaky or rust prone, I dial it back a bit and use a hose/foam gun combo:

For classics, kits, and other rust prone vehicles, forgo foam altogether and always use a waterless or rinseless wash to avoid any complications:

Closed garage wasn't an option here unfortunately - there were nasty oil and gas fumes coming off of this thing the entire time I was working on it.  Before I backed it out into the sun, I put on my nomex racing undershirt...lol.

Not my best work when it comes to pictures - for some reason I just didn't feel like stopping to take any. The car was resprayed in a barn a few years ago and so there are a lot of issues with the paint: lots of dust nibs and etching UNDERNEATH the finish as well as some minor corrosion and paint stretch in a few spots. It was a good turnaround overall and the owner was super happy when he came to pick it up!

The cleanest way to do it is to get some Formula 409 and a pressure washer, and then...just kidding!

I personally use a no rinse car wash solution along with a detail brush. And since many dealerships have trouble telling the difference between a hinge and a jamb, some APC and 3M adhesive remover for the grease that's all over the place. Sticking to the Adam's line - use some Adam's Car Wash solution diluted in a spray bottle and a foam wood staining brush from the local hardware store. Follow up with some Detail Spray or BSG.

    Quick and dirty:

I said it a while ago and maybe it's a bit more relvant now - bring back the "Detail Advisor" moniker?  That would at least help out with getting detailing & process questions turned around and answered more quickly by some authoritative source.  Tie that in maybe to an authorized detailer program for some of the pros on here who aren't dealers but do use Adam's products - so your advisors become sources of working knowledge in the forum and in real life.

Nothing special about it - TID or diluted APC 10:1 will take care of it just fine.
