Corrected my brothers car this weekend.  The body shop made a mess out of it last year when he had this aftermarket hood painted.  I suspect that they took a rotary to the car.  Their is still some deep sanding marks on the hood that I was not able to get out.

You're probably good to go.  The sealant may not last as long because it may not have fully bonded to the paint - but I doubt you'll see any negative effects.

YOU MIGHT BE A DETAILER IF...

    1)  You have ever called in sick to work because it was raining and your car was clean.

    2)  Your microfiber towel collection cost more than your first car.

    3)  With a blindfold on, you can identify 20 different products by only their smell.

    4)  You regularly use detailing products to clean your house.

    5)  Your neighbors are so used to seeing you wash in the rain/snow/subzero that they don't even look twice.

    6)  Your detailing supplies and equipment are included in your Will.

    7)  Your clean clothes get thrown in a drawer but your detailing towels are precisely folded and carefully stored.

    8)  You have ever left a store or restaurant without stopping because you can't find a parking spot at least 50 feet away from any other car.

    9)  Your wife is so tired of hearing about what is posted on Adam's Forums that she starts putting Benadryl in your dinner to make you fall asleep sooner.

    10)  Even fellow "enthusiasts" think you are nuts, crazy, insane, and weird.

mc2hill got a reaction from Thorsager in Amelia Island Concours 2015
We went to Amelia Island last weekend to support my client.

Friday night my clients car was the feature car in the main hangar at the duPont Registry Live Aeroport Reception.  The car arrived about 1:00 and they soon had us move it into the hangar.  I did a Rinseless Wash wipe down to knock off the dust and pollen.

This nice 1935 Packard was in the other hangar.

They had brought in a few other vehicles before we left for the hotel:
    A GTR700 Hennessey!

The event was very nice, lots of good food and drink plus more cars and planes to see.  Sorry no picture of the that.

On Saturday morning we went to the Ritz Carlton, where the Concours event is held.  The Bonhams auction was going on there, and we were able to look at many of the cars awaiting their turn to go across the block.  While we were walking around we saw this guy and his TV crew:

    Wayne Carini from 'Chasing Classics'.

Out in front of the hotel were several driving experiences, including the opportunity to drive one of these Skittles:

Then we went down to the golf course area where they had the Cars and Coffee event.
A shot of some of the cars:

At the Mercedes display they had their 1939 W154 race car:

This car had twin superchargers and had a top speed of 206!

    A couple of nice Ferrari's:
    1959 250GT

    1962 250 GTO

A few nice Alfa's at their display:
    1933 8C 2300 Monza

    1968 Tipo 33 Stradale

And something a little newer to finish on:
    Aventador LP 700-4 Pirelli Edition

We did not attend the main Concours event on Sunday, but maybe next time!

Make yourself up one of these for the sheet rinse:
A short length of old hose (maybe 2 ft.) a female hose end

Put this on your hose after you spray the car off.

Possibly, but since you can add APC to the Car Wash Shampoo to do the same thing it seems like an extra product to keep track of.

Washed the corvette and the volt (yesterday). It was very hot and I ended up getting water spots on the paint though. Kind of annoying. More reason to use rinseless wash in my garage (I gotta be honest that I enjoy 2 bucket wash more though)

any suggestions on how to remove water spots after the fact?

Didn't take pictures right after, but we did go to a car & coffee meet with wife and met up with other corvette forum members. A photographer came and wanted to take some pictures of our cars. It was a fun day.

mc2hill got a reaction from Feets31 in Did I ruin my polishing pad?
I recommend getting 2 pads instead of just one.  You never know when you may drop one or hit some nastiness on the car.  You can clean them a little on the fly, but not remove heavy contamination.
I spray mine with APC, put them in the bucket with some water, drop the Grit Guard on top of them to keep the pads submerged, and spin the lid on the bucket.  I leave them until the next day (or several days sometimes) and that soaking helps remove polishes and sealants.

Correcting a dark colored car. There is a very dramatic difference in the finished vs. unfinished sides. Fully cleaning the wheels.  Clean barrels make them look sooo much better.

Put up the new banner.  Had to hang it on the lower portion of the wall, as there was no other space.  Looks great!

I grabbed a 5" pad and cut into 4 sections to fit underneath the door handle and took out about 90% of the imperfections.

Aggghhh - the yellow 'snow' is here!  Our oak tree pollen is out in full force this week.
We did a road trip to visit our son at college and returned yesterday.  Today I did a interior detail, a regular wheel cleaning, and a rinseless wash.  The car looks much better inside and out, and I applied Tire Shine to top it off.  I LOVE Rinseless wash!

I like 3M green painters tape or the orange tape Adam's used to sell.  It is low tack, so it comes off easy, but stays on fine for polishing.

It is rewarding, especially when we take it for a drive around the block!  I am not attending the Sunday show ($100 per ticket) but will be going to the Cars and Coffee on Saturday morning.  Should be some real good stuff there.
