Anyone watch the wheel coating video yet? There's a sneaky new product flash at the end.

Now my wife wouldn't be able to handle the mint smell. She's highly allergic to mint and mint smells.  So I guess the whole point of this thread is that no one thing is right for everyone.  I like the original Detail Spray and not the Pumpkin.  Everyone is different. Adam does a good job switching it up now and then.

Hey guys! Just wanted to share some of my interior work from this weekend. I did this as a gift to my neighbor, who's been having a rough time lately. It also gave me an opportunity to experiment with cleaning techniques. I have a nice arsenal of Adams products but don't have any heavy equipment, like a steam machine or extractor. So this was all done by hand. I spent about 2 hours on just the interior. It was heavily soiled with layers of dust, pet hair, and food crumbs. I could have spent another 2 hours, making the interior closer to perfect. Didn't spend much time on the seats or leather & vinyl conditioning. Curious how you all handle the really dirty interiors. I have to say, I was really impressed with the carpet upholstery cleaner. One technique I thought of using but didn't approach was using the sidekick blaster to blow out the seat mounts and seat crevices & stuff. Enjoy the before and after photos. Be as harsh as you want. I have thick skin.

I usually start with 500 or 600 then 1000, 1500, 2000 followed by compound and finishing polish. I don't spray with clear coat but I do apply PS followed by Americana Wax. My next set I am going to try dry sanding with 320 first to see if it makes any difference.

I'd say the boost would need to be reapplied every couple of months. Personally, I would feel the surface after every wash to see what the coating feels like. That way you could easily keep track of it.

There's really no need to use those products. It would just be a waste. Water is totally fine. I soaked my sandpaper in a large cup of water for 15 minutes or so and continued to keep the working area saturated while sanding.

Thanks Jason.  I've slowly built my collection up pretty significantly.  With time, I've also built up a small number of customers who I detail for along the way.  In the spring here, I'm probably going to push it forward a little further to continue to obtain new clients.  I'd mostly been doing word of mouth and a referral here and there.  Detailing won't ever replace my career for me, but it does have the potential to bring in some extra cash on my schedule, which is always good.  In deciding to try to obtain new clients, I came to the realization that you have to be able to either offer a level of service that isn't readily available, but more importantly to be able to have the right tool for the job.  By that, it usually means having the tools a client doesn't have or won't invest in.  The other component for me, is that when I'm doing a job for someone else time is money.  The more efficient I can make the process, the more profitable it becomes for me.

And let's not forget the real reason, I'm bit of a tool geek!  But the decisions I've made to invest in the equipment that I have are not entirely geek based.  Let's hope it pays off.  But I guess if it doesn't, I still have all the tools to make my own vehicles flawless.

Thanks for the pics, turned out great. If I get around to it this weekend, gonna pick up some 3k paper and attempt wet sanding. Gonna go very lightly at first, enough to slightly haze the paint, then hit it with the rupes to see if any improvement has been made

Hemi, I had the same problem. Here are some of my pics.
    Here's the etch.

    1st stage wetsand with 3000 wasn't enough.

2nd stage wet sand with 2500 then 3000.

Polished with PCP and microfiber pad.

Then sealed with LPS. rained just after. Haha! Water bead shot.

What Phokus said^^^. But I might try 2500, then 3000. If 2500 doesn't get it, then 2000. It sounds a lot scarier than it really is. Just don't go totally crazy with it. Do just enough. The machine will take out about anything 2500 and up. Good luck.

I had that on my 2015 WRX (obviously very soft paint) but I actually clayed it with little lubricant, and that sucker eventually went away.  My wrist and shoulder were on fire after though lol.  Paint correction did the fine tuning.

Guys and gals I played around with my new Swirl Killer 15mm. Long throw polisher.
I used my panel that I keep in my garage for testing,
I first scuffed and scratched the panel with a Scotch-Brite pad.
Started first with the Blue Foam pad & HCC followed by Orange foam pad & CP then finally White Foam pad &FP.
As you can see the Swirl Killer did a great job, and I must say it was comfortable to use and I love the long cord! It is a very nice machine at any price point IMHO.
Check out the before & after pics.

If I use Adam's pads I do not prime them, but if I use a Rupes pad (or a similar stiff pad) I do 'butter' them.  I also 'butter' the MF pads (see my method below).

Trevor's correct. Wetsanding is the best option based on that photo. If the Rupes didn't take it out, you'll have to get super aggressive with a drill and you'll build up a lot of heat in the process. Just wetsand with 2000 until the mark disappears, move to 3000 until the marks from the 2000 disappear, then polish. Whole thing might take 10 minutes.
