  1. Too cool, Dustin! I'm afraid they took those McClarens to the wrong place, though. I was home all day waiting.
  2. Fold it in quarters (or halves) with the thin side towards the surface, use DS as an aid, and dry away! Adam demos it in this video, and there is a brief set of instructions already on the product page under the "Product Detalis" tab.
  3. I'm gonna take this up a level. My biggest piece of advice: be honest with her about your level of experience to manage expectations. I sense some hesitation and that's ok. Frankly, black is a doozie to start with. You may not get perfection, and as Jake said, she may not be looking for it, either. So set some basic levels of expectation (e.g., some swirls may still be noticeable, but the car will be clean and protected, and the added shine will be evident), and ensure she's ok with that before your proceed. Essentially, tell her what the steps are, why you'll do them, and what the expected results will be. She may even decide not to have it polished just yet because, as I'd recommend you tell her, "perfect" paint before winter may not be the ideal soution right now, anyway. Couple other tips: 1) consider concentrating a little more on the interior to balance some of the exterior work and, 2) take some before and after pics to show her, post here and save for your records for (potential) future clients.
  4. I. LOVE. Lamborghinis. But the Jeep looks great, too.
  5. You had me at W&W. You lost me at...<checks spelling, says screw it, copies/pastes>...hydrophobicity.
  6. Anything in this thread... But I'll repost my ideas just in case: - Cleaning cloth seats. I could only find ones for leather interior and/or carpet mats, but nothing for cloth seats. - Updated headlight restoration - Updated engine bay cleaning A "Behind the Scenes" Series - A Day (or Week?!) in the Life at Adam's. Show us what it's like to work there. All because your culture is what makes you awesome! - Updated bottling, packaging, packing and shipping video - What goes into creating Mystery Boxes/Buckets? (this could answer A LOT of questions!) How To's - How to Get "Car Show Ready" - Product Hacks. Demo a collection of alternate uses for a variety of products. BG on the interior of the windshield is a perfect example (and my favorite hack to date!) Other - Updated bloopers! Looking forward to whatever you release, though!
  7. First, welcome! Be sure to post an intro in the New Member check-in thread. And congrats on the Patriot score! Next to a Swirl Killer, that's probably the most coveted item in MBs. You got a good one. I like to refer to it as feeling waxstatic! In general, you'll want the longest lasting product to be applied first...so selant, wax, then glaze, in that order. But glaze and wax can be swapped, and some like to apply glaze before sealant since it has fillers. Did you strip wash and clay the vehicle before polishing? That's going to be your best way to ensure a naked surface for the sealant to bond. This article should be mandatory reading, so I recommend you check it out. Talks product differences and layering, too:
  8. One more using a Porter Cable, around the 4:35 point, he uses speed 1 to spread, then appears to turn it up all the way to polish. And yes, cross-hatch pattern with the FP as when correcting.
  9. Hey, Joel. I don't know of a video with the SK either, but at about the 12-min point in this one with the Cyclo, Adam says speed 6. That indicates to me a faster speed setting is better.
  10. As others state above, it's meant to clean the (pores of) the paint and add extra depth/gloss. While it offers little to no correcting power, it will correct really light swirls in the clear (this is where the added clarity in the paint comes from). Use it either with the blue hex grip applicator by hand or the white foam pad on a polisher. Apply it after clay, before PS. Here's another good thread on it: Adam also demos it here if you haven't seen this one yet: Hope that helps!
  11. Only about 20 min from me as I'm on the north end of the Springs, closer to Monument. May see you around sometime!
  12. Thanks! Fabulous enough to deserve these or these?!
  13. Welcome from the Springs, Lee! Where you from? P.S. Adam has a similar background with a love of bikes, so you're definitely in the right place!
  14. May not be able to move my fingers! But they sure would be soft.
  15. Beanies, sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, blankets... May as well go all in! 100% (DST!) MF onsie, with option for hood and footies for the cold-by-nature folks out there. Some color suggestions are Adam's red with logo on the chest and the sticker bomb pattern. It's getting cold, so the time is right!
  16. Probably not for my detailing needs. But if made from DST MF, I would never take these off.
  17. I was going to say the person isn't wearing gloves. But I think that skips a few steps.
  18. Great pick! I hope you get some HGG, PS and/or BG in that Mystery box, too, but you should be able to use whatever comes in it. Let the countdown now begin for order #2...my bet is 2-3 weeks from arrival, and that's on the high end! Looking forward to pics. Hint, hint!
  19. That's 3 votes Inc. mine for the Ultimate Kit, by the way! But like I said, inputs will vary significantly. Re: Chonke's comment, I started with a (used) polisher, pads, PS, DS and a few other things about a year and a half ago. Now, I have nearly everything in that kit. And then some. It really depends on what you're after. To practice, I still think the winter wash detail kit is a great start and it's for any weather. Add some BG, too, to show off. And you have a little left over for odds and ends, and/or to save for the next Mystery Box sale (likely after the New Year). Don't forget the forum discount code "shine on" for 10% off. Swirls are light, circular scratches in the paint/clear coat. Can be caused by lots of things like poor washing techniques, drive thru washes, etc. A good orbital polisher (Swirl Killer) and the Orange CP and orange pad is great for them, but the hardness of the paint can lead you to a different polish/pad.
  20. We used to say this all the time when it was trash day in the office...
  21. Agreed on PS + HGG. Awesome combo! But I will caveat the "assess if needs claying" because a simple look won't do it. New cars can often have rail dust, etc. that should be removed before moving onto sealant. So...first run your bare hand over the paint in several places a round the car. Now, do the baggie test...put a plastic bag over your hand and LIGHTLY rub the paint in those same places. Feel any difference? Any small bumps or anomalies? If so, clay it. If not, move on to PS. Post some pics after your first detail!
  22. First, welcome to the addiction, Matt! Second, beautiful SS. Now to your question...which is sort of like asking a kid to pick out his favorite lollipop. They're all good, and there's no one right answer. Ok, we all know it's really the Mystery one...which Adam's also sells an equivalent of and is a GREAT way to try new products at a discount. But really, you will get about as many answers as there are kits. Is it a daily? Garage queen? What level of protection are you really after? Do you have a polisher? I recommend you read this and then decide what you're really are looking for with wax/sealant/coating... So my two cents...any of the winter wash/prep kits. Adam's Essentials is also a good choice. If you really want wax, Patriot is tops from Adam's, but Americana will also look awesome on that black. Since you will eventually buy it all anyway, if you can somehow spring it, you may as well get the Ultimate Kit. I know, it's a lot. But trust me. It'll save you the "I can't believe I just placed my third order in a week" feeling. Only to place yet another order the very next week. You've been warned. No matter what you get, one thing is certain. You think that shines now? Just wait. (P.S. Brilliant Glaze. Get some.)
