A recommendation as you are learning the products is to keep it simple as @galaxy noted and keep track of what you applied to the vehicle and when. It took me about 6 months and multiple Red vehicles to get a pattern that I liked and held up well in South Carolina. I still experiment and try different things according to what Red vehicle I'm dealing with and I just recently got the Ceramic wax to put on the Mustang that was repainted - yes the Mustang is Red also. The article @falcaineer is a good read and should and one that I refer back to on a regular basis. Enjoy your detailing and don't hesitate to ask questions, there are many very helpful people on the forum.
  2. The only close to a tire on a seat that I have had to deal with was a slide mark from a construction workers boots. I used diluted APC and went it over it multiple time and the used a leather conditioner. I will note that it was before I had switched to Adam's, so I cannot say how it will compare to Adam's products or if the sole of shoe is close to what a tire would do, but it seems similar.
  3. From your list, I did not see any Interior Detailer, you will want to get some with your next purchase. Since you said the interior is clean, I would not use the Leather Cleaner, I would go with APC diluted 10:1 if you have anything that needs to be truly cleaned. Then go over the dash, seats and door panels with the Leather Conditioner. As for using VRT on the door panels, I would not even consider it. VRT has a tendency to run rather easily and it will stain some clothing, so I would not put it anyplace that you are going to lean or rub against. Again, go with the Leather Conditioner, I think you'll like the results on the door panels and trunk trim. Also, for the infotainment center, I use glass cleaner to get rid of all the finger prints and then Brilliant Glaze to to reduce the future finger prints.

    Food Thread

While the Roast above looks great, we went in a different direction for Christmas dinner. We all like Salmon and since the son-in-law, who is married to my Chef Daughter, got a new Weber grill for Christmas, we knew we were going to try it out. The first picture is the Salmon being prepped, the second picture is the Salmon on the grill on the Maple planks, yes they are Maple instead of the normal Cedar plank and the last picture is the meal on the plate with the Maple-Honey sauce on the Salmon. Around the plate is the Yellow Crookneck squash, Mac & Cheese, Broccoli & Cauliflower with a lemon-dill cheese sauce and in the center are dutch oven potatoes with bacon, multiple seasonings and I'm not sure what else. Not pictured are the fresh rolls and the Strawberry Mousse we had for dessert. At least her 6 years of school are keeping me well fed when she isn't at the restaurant working.
  5. You need to get all the contaminates off, I would recommend hitting it with APC, probably going over it twice and then seal it up again. At least that way when you hunt down the person(s) that did it, you can know the that coke won't have eaten a hole through it while you are temporarily in Jail. Sorry officer, but I don't know why he kept falling down each time that I helped him up... Not that I advocate violence, but there is a law that protects you when helping others. Good Samaritan laws offer legal protection to people who give reasonable assistance to those who are, or who they believe to be, injured, ill, in peril, or otherwise incapacitated.
  6. I do a lot of vehicles in the 20 or more year old and only a couple that are over 40 years old. With the ones with bad paint, it came down to what had to be done for the repaint. Some of them only need to be sanded to get the crud off and others had to go back to metal. If the paint is pitted and you can see metal or you have rust spots, the best thing to plan for is a full strip, fix, prime and paint. As long as you don't apply a ceramic or material that is difficult to sand off, you shouldn't have to worry about temporary sealants up to HGG. With the exception of one of those $299 paint your car places, you should be able to get a qualified inspection of the vehicle and quote for what is needed fully correct and spray the vehicle. This is a pretty big car, so you can expect a lot of labor if all the parts need to be removed. If some or most can be taped it will save a significant amount of labor. When you talk to the paint shop it may be worth asking them the price difference if you remove the parts vs having them do it. If you remove the parts, it gives you the opportunity to clean and if needed have them re-chromed. However, some paint shops also have good connections and discounts on re-chroming. Look for rust, that is the biggest thing and you want to know every place that it exists. Whether it is surface rust, just under the paint actual holes, it has to be completely addressed and not just covered up. The $299 paint places won't hesitate to spray over anything that is there, even bumper stickers and dealer decals on the body - know that one for a fact. The Mustang convertible we just had completed was just under $4,000 and it didn't need any body work and there was no rust. As you can image, being a convertible, there was not a whole lot of body to cover and it had zero chrome to be removed.
  7. I did not see Plastic Razor Blades on the list and they are the best way to get sap, bird droppings and various other sticky items off the vehicle. Use any lubricant, car shampoo, waterless, detail spray, etc..
  8. At one time there was a thread or discussion about being able to rent a Swirl Killer. I looked for the thread, but was able to find it - did that thread go away or was there not enough interest. This seems like the ideal situation where someone would want to rent a Swirl Killer.
  9. It is a beautiful day in South Carolina and the humidity was low enough to let me start on reconditioning the top. I think it will take another 2 or 3 coats to get it evened out and completely back to black. The first picture is the first coat on half the top and the second picture is with the second coat on the entire top. To be upfront, convertible tops, tonneau cover's, hottub covers, awnings for campers/motorhomes and other vinyl that thinks it is canvas like materials get protected by 303. I have tried a lot of different products over the years and have yet to find anything better, but it sure is expensive. As as soon as I started on the top, I realized how bad the windshield cowl looks and when I reached for the Black Trim Restorer, I realized I forgot to order more, so I just added to my wishlist for the next order. The new headlights will be here in another week or so and I'll get them installed right before we're ready to get her protected. They are not being restored because the right side is cracked and the left side seal is bad so it would have to be baked apart and then resealed - a case of replacement is the best solution. It is on pace to be done by the end of December or first week or so of January according to how the weather cooperates and then it will go back to the daughters garage. Which means it is time to get serious about finding my next project car - I'm open for suggestions as long as it is Red.
  10. I have both in my arsenal and use use Eco 80% of the time. Here is how I decide which to use. When I get older vehicles that have not been maintained and the wheels require a full decontamination, I reach for the regular wheel cleaner. I do plenty of older vehicles, some that haven't even been washed in multiple years. I usually start by washing the wheels with soap and water and junk towels. Then once I can identify that fact they are actually wheels, I go to the Wheel Cleaner. Some of the wheels are so bad it takes multiple rounds of wheel cleaner and sometimes some APC for tough spots. I had one vehicle that sat under a pine tree for almost 5 years and had moss growing on the wheels, if that gives you and idea of some that I do. For maintenance washes, the Eco Wheel Cleaner works fine and the smell doesn't choke you. The once exception is the Range Rover, I don't know what is about the combination of the brake pads and wheels, but they get nasty very quickly. I end up hitting them with Wheel Cleaner about every 3 months to keep them looking good.

    Dads and Daughters

I'll start with what arrived today and then I'll explain why this is about Dads and Daughters. The picture shows the Ceramic Wax, a sticker, a Red applicator for applying Brilliant Glaze and a Candy Cane. I was happy when the box arrived right up to where I realized I'm in a bit of trouble. While my wife knows that she gets the best of everything, my daughters know that they get what they want. The girls are not spoiled, they were good students in high school, received generous scholarships for college, graduated on time, have good jobs and have never caused us any grief. My oldest graduated from Clemson has an excellent job and is married to a Army officer. She is also the one that has the Mustang. The Mustang was originally mine, purchased in 1997. She took the Mustang when she was a senior in high school - shouldn't every 17 year old girl be driving a Red Mustang Convertible? Sure the Mustang ended up a bit neglected, but not abused, and ultimately a new paint job and it is currently sitting in my garage waiting for the paint cure time to elapse. This brings me to my pending trouble and no win situation. The Americana is a very good wax and the wife's car always looks great. The wife also knows that when I purchase something new it is for her car first, so how am I going to explain the point that the Ceramic wax is for our daughters car? I'll post the outcome of the wax on the Mustang in the thread I've had going on it. For all you other Dads with Daughters, go ahead and share your stories.

    Coming to Florida

If you get a chance, stop by St Augustine, it is a beautiful old city and they do it right for Christmas. Disney for the holidays is also something very special whether you go to Disney itself or Epcot, you'll have a good time. Epcot is geared a bit more for adults, in my opinion. If you are golfers, make sure you take your clubs, there are many outstanding courses all over Florida and the Ft Myers areas has some exceptional courses. https://www.visitstaugustine.com/event/nights-lights https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/epcot/holiday-festival/ https://www.tripsavvy.com/naples-fort-myers-golf-guide-1573934 If you are driving, be careful when you get around mile mark 305 on I-75. They are widening I-75 and the bridge is a bit of a mess where it goes of 50 - which is the exit I get off from. Enjoy your Christmas trip.
  14. If you are only getting this reported issue with systems running Norton, then there is a good chance it is a False Positive. While it is important to get the web site checked, it should also be reported to Norton via the link in the warning message and the Norton team will check it out also.
  15. Thanks Rich. With as often as I go up to Fairfax, Zip Corvette would be easy enough to stop at by taking the 295 bypass around Richmond.
