  1. Worked till about 2am or so last night. Got offered a house through base housing, and now i'm getting ready to go participate in a charity carwash to help support our commands upcoming Christmas Party. Not a fan of this carwash idea, but I need to get some volunteer time in anyway. Otherwise it's a 3 day weekend!
  2. I just enjoyed a nice great lakes- nosferatu! I love that beer!
  3. I'm able to get right at the lip, I might give it a shot, i've got confidence I can knock it out so it just looks like some terrible scratches. I just don't want to take it into the shop and get it all fixed up, just for winter to come around and some idiot that can't drive...like all of them down in the VA Beach area...slide into us in the same area and have to get it fixed all over again. If it makes it unscathed through winter, i'll probably get it fixed. For now i'm thinking of doing as Eric mentioned, knock it out, and probably wet sand just to get it more uniform, then severe swirl it with the 4" pads and call it a day with some buttery wax.
  4. Actually, it's a bug that just happened to get in the picture. I'm going to tackle this today, I'm going to wash it so I can strip all the stuff they put on it off, then i'll go to town with the clay bar and see if that helps, if not, then i'll probably try the goof off as mentioned above, i just need to find the water based version. I'll update later today then! Thanks for the advice! And Rich, So far I love the thing! It's like a little go cart compared to the giant truck I was driving. I was trying to get the manual version, but my wife liked the car a ton and didn't want to have to learn how to drive a manual before getting the chance to drive it.
  5. The makers of Blue Moon have a 12 pack seasonal with their usual blue moon in the mix. It has a caramel apple spice beer, pumpkin beer, and belgian style pale ale. Pretty mix!
  6. Yeah I talked to them, it's a 500 deductible, the wife and I have accident forgiveness, but they aren't sure if they'll do the forgiveness thing. Our current thought is that since winter is approaching to just protect it for now, and then fix it come spring when we have either the 500 or the 1400 laying around.
  7. Can't really feel it too much, that's why i'm thinking they applied a liberal coating of something over all of it.
  8. Hello all! Ok, so I have a 2011 dodge grand caravan. I was backing into a parking space and was a little rushed due to some traffic behind me...I put the drivers side rear fender, behind the tire, into the rear bumper of an F-150. The truck is fine, in fact, I was able to gather the paint off his bumper, didn't leave a scratch...on my van though, it's now dented, and scratched really bad down to what looks like bare metal or possibly bondo...not quite sure. Anyway, we took it to a body shop and don't have the 1400 needed to get the panel fixed right now. I just generally want to add some protection with winter on it's way, would it be safe to wetsand and then...Not sure from here. Suggestions?! Thanks ahead of time!
  9. Hello all! I have a brand new Jetta SE, it's the candy white and the dealership did the one thing that drives me up the wall the most...They put the price sticker down the side of the car. Once we finished the initial paperwork and got us approved for the lease, they took it to their detail guys and had them go to work on it. They did a reasonable job, but you can still see the outlines of where the stickers were on some parts of the car. (pictures below) They washed and detailed it once and then realized they still didn't get it all, so they went back and tried again. I think they applied a coat of machine wax of sorts and then made the second attempt over that...any ideas on how to remove this stuff? My initial thought it wash with shampoo/all purpose cleaner, follow that up with some detail spray/clay bar, and then maybe some swirl and haze? Not fully sure though. Thanks for the help and suggestions!
  10. I was the same way last night, the Wife thought I was crazy at first and then she started watching it. Funny part is that we've been trying to find what sound a goat makes as we are trying to teach our daughter animal noises by associated picture. Too funny!
  11. That's so stupid that I can't stop laughing!!
  12. Nice! I second the idea of moving the banner though. Also looks like the bottom 2 shelves are bowing, time for some 1/2 plywood to support the brew! I did 3/4 on the bottom of mine with an extra 1/2x1" board down the sides and across the front and back, and then got some spray glue and black felt, sprayed it and wrapped it in the felt, now I don't have to worry about the bottom shelf cracking with my homebrew kegs in there.
  13. Traded the giant gas guzzling truck in finally on a 2012 Jetta SE! Roughly 24mpg around town, said they can usually push closer to 29, either way though, it's better than my 8mpg! I have to check it out in the morning, the wife said she could still see the outline of the sales price sticker on the passenger side. I'm thinking a wash with some all purpose cleaner, a claybar, a swirl and haze pass and then some polish topped with a machine super sealant should do the trick. We'll see I guess!
  14. This comment is here for the sole purpose of not being able to click like more than once! Amazing car!
  15. Took the baby to the zoo for her first birthday today! It's been a good day!
  16. My grandfather was an over the road driver, he drove a Kenworth T-2000. I would detail the interior for him weekly, this was 15 years ago or so, but I would take a bucket of hot water with some cleaner in it and a few rags and would go to town wiping down the dash and doors and all the cabinets in back. Once done with that I would usually bust out the vacuum and some carpet cleaner grandma would buy and clean the carpet. Let it sit for a couple hours to dry back out, and then I would bust out the armorall for the dash and doors, then clean the windows inside and out. Once I got done he would usually give me $30 and a steak dinner. He was always pleased with how it turned out and so was his boss. If I had more time on my hands I would have been doing all the trucks in the fleet, but high school makes it hard to do that kind of thing. Nice job on it though! I've done exteriors as well, just to wash and wax is an all day event...
  17. Took the van for an estimate for backing the drivers side behind the rear wheel into a bumper of a pickup...1045, we'll see if I go for this now or later. Came home and decided to clay bar the stovetop...worked pretty nice actually! Now just relaxing after playing with the baby for a while.
  18. I've come acros the same issue as Matt with mine being in my storage bins. Opened it up recently and a new bottle of the microfiber cleaner as well as a new bottle of the interior cleaner were empty and sitting in the bottom of the container. Ashley gave some assistance already with it, but with regards to the bottles being made, is there a way to request maybe a slightly thicker bottom edge? Just seems like where they are breaking is just extremely thin.
  19. Finished the engine bay. SVRT, some buttery wax around the edge, and some undercarriage spray for the engine cover. Also did a healthy coating of Trucklite grease to most of the exposed connectors.
  20. i cleaned the engine bay yesterday, hopefully i'll have some time to dress it and do some corrosion prevention on the electrical components before fall/winter.
  21. Looks good! I had one of those in high school, my uncle gave it to me when he bought a new insight, thing had 130k on it, I gave it a tune up, otherwise just drove it, put another 50k before the head gasket blew and warped the head beyond repair. I was getting a combined mileage of 55mpg out of it too with an extremely worn clutch! Miss that car for the mileage alone.
  22. Dude! It looked like he just went stiff and fell over!
