  1. Hey Jason.......I no longer need the SHR !!! But I do need some paint and clearcoat. Got any??
  2. I'm new to machine polishing. Have been working on black C6 Vette for past 2 months. During process have created and worked thru a few noob problems. Thus far have washed, clayed. applied SHR and Machine Polish (16 hours), developed some hazing problems and have been resolving with Leo Chan, Adams distributer. Now going to Hawaii for 2 weeks. When return want to finish. Plan is to complete process with glaze, machine wax and maybe buttery wax. Then look at and address any weak areas. The point is that as I proceed I keep noticing areas not up to my expectations. Thus I need to complete the total process then examine and address isolated areas or else will never finish. Is this normal (kind of) or am I going wacko? The second part is that while I have taken photos , could send if knew how, and they would look beautiful, I still know where all the flaws are and am not satisfied. Is this normal? My grandson once said "its only a car grandpa"! Is it or have I developed some illness?? Anyone else got this dicease? Where are the hidden flaws on your car??
  3. Thanks Jason. It was suggested to try this on my C6 exterior trim below the side windows. Is it possible to get a smaller sample to test? I will gladly pay for but don't need a lot to test.
  4. This was suggested in earlier thread. Unable to find. What is it? Thank you
  5. Have and will try the in and out on the trim below the windows. Not sure how much is left and don't want to run out half way thru interior. Will try in hidden area and see. If works will see if anyone has some 4 sale. Thanks
  6. Vette is a C6. 1. Will try although leather isn't real leather except on seats. 2. VRT doesn't last on weather stripping (believe its water based). Looking for something that lasts longer 3. VRT doesn't work at all on this plasticy looking trim beneath side windows. I will try the BSG Not being arguementive. My experience is that some of the above don't work, or last, for whatever reason on this black car. Thanks for your responce !
  7. I was inside the garage. As mentioned flakes are rapidly becoming fewer. Have not put on final machine wax or glaze yet as was waiting to fix another issue (which now seems to be under control with the help of Leo Chan ). Will complete process after vacation. Thank you
  8. Six weeks or so ago, decided to try machine polishing. Bought the Adams machine detail kit , pc 7424 and viewed the videos. Everyone strongly advised to practice on a car other than the black Vette. My other car is a 10 year old white Ford Explorer with 160k plus miles that resides outside. While I have not yet completed the Vette I have, and continue to, experiment on the Explorer. The side benefit is that the Explorer now looks fantastic
  9. 1. What works on black dash and black interior of doors that isn't real shiney? 2. What works on weather stripping? 3. What works on the exterior trim below the side windows ( kind of plasticy looking trim) ? Thank you !
  10. I have these annoying flakes too. Its been 4 weeks or so since used the SHR and MSP but they still show up although seem to be fewer as time passes. White flakes on black Vette look like paint chips. You can wipe with microfiber and most stay on. Then use detail spray and many still stay on. At first thought the ones that remained were chips. However. when use the tip of your finger they come off, or if this doesn't work using fingernail (gently) makes them move and then can remove with microfiber. As mentioned I seem to be winning as they are becoming fewer.
  11. silly question answer....none of the above !
  12. Cutting down of the flag may have been an emotional over reaction. If he merely saw it, got pissed , grabbed his knife and cut it down he needs to learn anger management. However, if he saw this, pointed it out to the store owner and received a smart *** responce then its a different ball game. However, I do not agree with vigilante law. There are better ways in this country to resolve issues----The civilized way is the basis of America and does not include knive wielding. What the guy with the knife did was a worse example of what this country is not about !!
  13. I have an 05 C6 Corvette with 90,356 miles. Should I consider this a DD??
  14. As a noob, this question still remains unanswerred. Suggest answers be measureable.....in example pressure in pounds, not in words such as alot, medium or a little which are opinionated at best. As recall there was a thread not long ago which had sugested poundage, however, these varied all over the place thus still no answer. Is there an official guide for various conditions? Thank you
  15. A few weeks ago I used the pc7424 for the first time on the black Corvette. I washed, clayed, applied SHR and FMP. Soon afterwoods noticed hazing along the edges of the hood. In a few days this spread throughout the rest of the Vette...a very dull paint condition. Discussed this with Leo. Due to both of us being busy we were unable to get together until this afternoon. Upon examination Leo, in a very short time determined the problem...I had applied the FMP too thick, had not pc'ed it long enough to properly break it down and then, as if that wasn't bad enough, had not wiped it amply. With detail spray and an application of FMP in capable hands Leo proved his analysis to be correct. The Vette looks great again ! Next week I will attempt the Brillant Glaze followed by the Machine Wax Thank you Leo for your time, tips and efforts in acheiving success !! It is nice to know help is available when you need it ! ( Even the neighbor's cat noticed my usual disposition was back when I got home tonight )
  16. Doesn't look very shiney !!?!
  17. :iagree:Definetly on needing more indoor light (have 1 halogen hung from rafter plus 2 light bulbs in door closure). Also have spot light but no place to plug it in ( keep unplugging pc to plug in light to check, then unplug and plug back the pc. A real clutzy method).Tested pressure with bathroom scales. Believe was using around 15 to 18 pounds total combined (PC itself weighs 5)at setting of 5. ...another question: What does everyone use to get the residual polish and wax off? Little white specks in alot of areas. Assume it would be best to wash car after finished? Thank you
  18. Unbelieveable...just pulled black Vette into driveway with sunshine....WOW !! This car is shiney !!! I thought it shone before. This is fantastic ! Zero swirl ! (which was the intent). And haven't put the machine wax on yet! As far as the hazy areas think it may be something to do with the shape of the hood. The sun on the fenders is around 1/2 " diameter, on the hood it is around 2" in diameter. The C6 fenders slope down to the hood while the the hood itself is on a flatter plain. When walking side to side , moving the sun (man am I powerful ) the hood seems pretty consistant. Only thing that is slightly noticeable is where I put the revive by hand on one small area (I know I put it there and no one else will notice...but I will make a couple of passes with the SHR and MP later over the hood). Leo: Will call you before attempt this. While the swirls are now zero, there are a few scratches. At 90k miles thats okay, unless there is an easy way to be rid of these ???? I'm gonna put the rear license plate back on and go for a ride AS SOON AS THIS BRIGHT SPOT IN MY EYES GOES AWAY. As bright as it was may have to wait awhile ! Thank you
  19. Hi Bill: Spoke with Leo of Detail Addict, Adams dealer I've spoken to before. I'm going out of town . We will get together for him to look at next week. Will repost afterwards. The sun just came out! Will pull the Vette onto the driveway and look for / wipe any residual areas where I may have left some polish residue on. Thank you, Bill
  20. Hi Junkman: Thanks for the reply. I went over the entire car with the SHR on orange pad at 5 opm, followed with the MP at 5 opm and wiped with MF towell. Next step was to repeat the above SHR and MP moving speed to 6 opm. Wiped then finished with MP at 3 opm. On the passes at 5 and 6 opm I used a good amount of pressure going in 2 directions slowly as the video emphasized using pressure. Thats what I did up to this time. Looks like I made a mess out of the hood. You mention removing the wax. I've put the Machine Polish on it and no wax. Do I need to remove the polish? If so, how?...........No disrespect intended, you say only a little pressure, the video says alot of pressure and have seen posts on forum also recommending a little and others alot. Perhaps this is an individual preference thing. However, will try as you suggest and see if it works. Going out of town for weekend and orange pads are wet from cleaning so will wait til return. Also thinking maybe should have a pro fix (no problem with Adams products, just noob operator error). RAATTS ! Again thanks for your reply !
  21. After having good results on the Explorer, decided to do the Vette. Its raining and from 45 to 55 degrees. I'm inside garage with overhead door open. Washed outside, dried inside then clayed. C6 black Vette with 90k miles and lots of swirl marks. Tried test area on hood.. What worked was SHR on orange pad at 5 opm followed with MP on orange pad at 5 opm, wipe off, repeat both of above set at 6 opm, wipe, then apply MP on white pad set at 3 opm. Completed hood then did this over entire Vette. About an hour after finishing hood noticed 3 areas on hood that appeared hazy. One area is at edge of hood below winshield, one is on side of hood near front parallel with fender and the third is a larger area in the middle of the hood ( not quite as hazy). The area on the hood by the windhield on passenger side was about an inch wide and what appearred to be several areas 2" or so long each. The area on the hood next to the fender on the driver's side was about 2" wide x 8" long. At first I thought these might be due to the weather being damp and cold as I've had that show up on Vettes before after polishing by hand ( especially in the evening you get a dampening of certain areas on these plastic cars) and told myself to leave them alone. However, when finished for the day around 6:30 pm my hands took control... Tried detail spray on the 8" area. No effect. For the smaller 2" wlde areas grabbed the Revive polish and put in on by hand. When wiped. The areas have now come together and this is now 2" x 8". I have left the area in the middle of the hood alone. By hazy these areas are just plain blah......dull. Do not feel greasy and they show up more so at certain angles. There has been no sun to view these. Spoke with Leo of Detail Addict on phone yesterday and will likely followup with him. Thought I would run this by the forum to see if any of you have experienced this. Holding off on the wax for now. Sorry this is long and no photos. Thank you
  22. Hi Leo: Darn it !...Have a golf tournament that day. However, if 2 things happen we can make it: 1. If it rains the golf is cancellled 2. I need to be finished applying Adams stuff to the Vette (it needs to quit raining to do that...is there a conflict in this message? ) I'm probably the only one hoping for rain ! If not we''ll meet ya at another event. Hope Alameda is a success !!
  23. I like the idea of "hold the product from slinging better"..... Wore the same cowboy boots to work today as polished the car with, looked down, and they were coverred with specks of white "slinging"
  24. Also wash after every use. However, hang them up to dry rather than use drier. My experience has been that using the drier can sometimes result in lint which can be a pain in the neck (or lower extremity) to remove from car After dry, fold and place in plastic baggie to keep dust off (bear in mind the Vette is black and I hate dust )
