Autos in portfolio and Americana
xlr8rvette posted a question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Have the following cars..........1983 rx7, greenish grey, 250,000 miles. This auto has been clayed, swirl remover and revive, Carnuba (not Adams) , buttery wax and Glaze..looks great. ............1999 Explorer white 170,000 miles (my experimental car) has been clayed, swirl and haze remover and revive with pc, carnuba (not Adams) , glaze plus just added Americana. Looks better than RX7 (slightly). 2007 Mazdz CR-7 black cherry 18,000 miles, hand polish revive, buttery, carnuba (not Adams), glaze and tonight Americana...Looks absolutely fantastic ( will add glaze next week)..... 2005 Corvette, black, 98,400 miles has been clayed, swirl and haze remover and revive with pc, carnuba (not Adams) and glaze. Looks great but after adding Americana to CR-7 likely lesser of other cars....Will do Americana next week. So far very pleased with Americana. Will post after do Vette next week. Also found that my application experience with the Americana was different for each of the 2 cars I've done to date. Will post differences after do Vette as may yet have another different experience. So far very pleased with the Americana! Again will report on Vette next week Thank you, xlr8rvette -

GM to stop putting little GM badges on their cars
xlr8rvette replied to Marylander's topic in Lounge
Believe the GM badges started on 2006 models....at least they did on Vettes. Now no one will know that I have an 05 with 100,000 miles on it instead of a new Vette !! Think of the $$ I'm gonna save ! -
Questions before trying the PC on my G8 GXP
xlr8rvette replied to Eidolon's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Claying doesn't take long (unless car is a real mess). If you only need to clay and wash ( or onlywash) to have a vehicle to practice on I highly recommend you do so. -
Questions before trying the PC on my G8 GXP

Practice on another car first. Very important !! -
On way home from weekend out of town, stopped at gas station for relief and a water. Walking back to car saw guy in early twenties at gas island wiping nice looking black Infinity all over with paper windshield drying towel. As we drove out stopped and asked him if he was wiping car with paper towel? "yes" Told him he would really damage the paint doing that. His reply " That's okay its not my car. My buddy let me use it for the weekend"

When I was 15 I saw a young man in a 57 Vette and vowed I would some day own one. In 1964 got out of USAF and bought a 61 Corvette. Later got married. Sold the Vette. Got divorced bought a 66 Vette ( wanna talk muscle......valve spring broke and put valve into piston. Rebuilt the 427 c i / 435 h p engine with all L88 stuff, two 4 barrel carbs, electric fuel pump and suspension mods, special clutch, cheater slicks, etc. Result 515 h p . And this was in late 60's. What a ride !! ). Got remarried. Sold the Vette. Spent 30 years raising 4 great kids. Got divorced. Bought 1991 Vette, then 1994, 2001 and present 2005 C-6. Also have 1500 diecast Corvettes and will turn 100,000 miles on the C-6 next month. You want to know why I like Vettes? Go look at one, touch it (no finger prints), sit in it, drive it. Then wipe the big smile off your face and tell me why you like it !!

I wash the MF and wash pads together, but let wash pad air dry (not in drier). So far no problem....However, recently noticed inside of windows after wiping with MF seem to have fuzz and stringy looking fiber on them ???? Imagine if this is on inside window glass it is likely on exterior paint although haven't noticed it. Next wash will experiment and if mf leaves stuff on window will thro it away

What is the worst car care product you've bought?
xlr8rvette replied to 6spdg37s's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
You're "technically buying" every month...How many months have you been married? Add it up, likely you haven't finished the down payment yet !! -
How long can BSG be on before buff?
xlr8rvette posted a question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Going to wash Vette this morning. Planning to put on Brilliant Spray Glaze. Usually leave this on for one hour then wipe. However, today may need to be gone before the hour is up. Can I leave this on for 6 hours before buff off?....Any chance this will be difficult to remove after the 6 hours? ....Has anyone left it on for 6 hours? Vette will be in garage. Temp is expected to be in 70's, maybe 60's later. Thank you -

xlr8rvette replied to Shimy86's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Haven't tried the detail spray after BSG. How much do you spray on the MF? Do you spray on the car then wipe or just spray on MF? Thanks -
Thru how many washes? Thank you?

tax writeoff?
xlr8rvette replied to Krzdimond's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
:iagree:However, don't forget you can only write off the portion of vehicle expenses based upon the percentage of auto use for business and must keep mileage records to substantiate this (commute, personal and business use). You may want to compare taking a mileage credit verses expense percentage. There is also a possibility of depreciation, interest % deduction and if you lease you may deduct a % the payment. You do not , however, get multiple choice. The method you use during the first year for the auto will be used for as long as you claim that auto. Suggest contact IRS or tax preparer to discuss what is best for your situation. Regards, Bill -
