It's horribly oxidized plastic - SCRUB SCRUB SCRUB! A pad conditioning brush is fantastic to use along with APC for scrubbing oxidized trim - the bristles are the perfect stiffness and rounded at the tips so as not to gouge the trim pieces.

Never know until you try! IF you wanted to add some bite, you can always try a 4" Orange pad...
Seal, then glaze, then wax.

It looks like these two new polishes and the microfiber pads will be in my next order very soon. Great work on the videos. Like mentioned earlier, these are no BS videos and I love that.
Slightly off topic but I noticed that Adam spreads the polish out thinly and then goes right over the gaps between panels without any buildup. I feel like a dummy but does everyone do this? Does it only work with the bigger gaps?

Even the back window of my G8 is kind of tough to get to. I rarely clean it but get the rest of the windows with a two towel method (one with glass cleaner and another to buff dry).

ksell87 reacted to IrishCurse in Dylan's Dawn Cleaning Method FTW
Dylan suggested using regular Dawn (No special moisturizer or other foo foo stuff) for cleaning your Americana, QS, BG, and other applicators. He cautioned that if one was to choose this cleaning method, extensive rinsing would be required.
I chose to clean my BG, Americana, and QS applicators this way. I filled my sink about 1/4 with water and regular Dawn suds and immersed the BG applicator. I cleaned it by continually squeezing it, allowing it to absorb suds, swirling it in the water, etc. I could easily see the water change color as the Dawn cleaned the applicator. I drained the water and rinsed the applicator under the faucet for a couple minutes. I then allowed the sink to fill with clean water about half way and immersed the applicator within the clean water and continually squeezed the applicator allowing clean water to flow through it for about five minutes. I drained the water and placed the applicator on a grit guard for drying. I repeated this process with the other applicators. This process resulted in applicators that looked and performed like I received them straight from Adams. I clean them this way every detail now. Give it a try!

One tip, Clean the outside in one direction with the towel...IE UP AND DOWN
Then clean the inside LEFT TO RIGHT

ksell87 reacted to ihaveacamaro in Machine Polishing Newb - What am I doing wrong?
When starting out with a PC, some of the best tips I can give are
1) always do a test spot. When you can make your test spot perfect, rinse and repeat your technique over the rest of the car.
2) You really have to move your arm insanely slow. To make you understand how slow I go consider this: most times I have to add more polish after three to four section passes because all of the polish is broken down. Move your arm slow and when you think you have that, move it slower.
3) this is two tips in one: mark the backing plate with a Sharpie. When polishing, you can see how fast the Piaf is spinning by the black line. Don't be afraid to put some pressure behind the pad. While this is a general guideline, I try to have the pad rotate once per second. I can tell this by the black line.
Hope this helps!

ksell87 reacted to GerryC in Should I throw away the chamois?
GWD towels are chamois on steroids and 100x safer.
Last time I was cleaning my towels after a wash, I did a little experiment:
I soaked the GWDT with enough water that it was fully saturated but NOT dripping. Then I wrang it out into a bucket and poured that water into a measuring cup. 600ml of water that thing holds without dripping a single drop! That's almost an entire bottle of scotch
