  1. Wish I had an answer for you. I worry a lot about getting dust and other contaminants on the surface while I am working on it. That's why I try to do it in the garage whenever possible. Sometimes its just fun to do it outside in the sun
  2. direct sunlight and hot surfaces have never been an issue for me with BSG...but I have dark blue and green cars, not black....I imagine its still the same story, however
  3. I have a hard time picturing how one would apply a paste wax with a machine, but Im no pro...so if its a paste, and if it can only he applied by hand, I'd be interested to see a how-to video. Unless its a no-brainer like the BSG.
  4. I tend to agree with Jason, however I see a large irony at play here. why would any Mexican national want to fly the Mexican flag above the American flag if they are in the US and benefiting from its jobs, infrastructure, etc? it makes no sense. kind of like biting the hand that feeds you. I understand loyalty and patriotism, but lets get real here; if you come to this county and enjoy the work/other stuff you get here, dont make the locals mad at you and want to take away that which you enjoy... my $.02.
  5. the other replies hit it on the head - go with Detail Spray (the amount of which based on the amount of dust) and Adams microfiber. Also, something that I learned the hard way is that it pays-off to use a ladder to get the roof of the truck. If you find yourself standing on the running board or something you will risk leaning up against the door frame with your clothing, etc. I have found spots of minor scratching that is 100% attributable to leaning on it in jeans or even a cheap cotton t-shirt...better safe than sorry...

I agree with Mark...I think the flames are over-used and not needed here. The checkered flags make me think "race", "fast", "corvette", etc. The flames make me think "****, another set of flames"...lol

speaking of color contrast, Im not sure I dig the combination of the black and white checkered flags with the orange flames and blue oval...maybe theres some way to normalize the color scheme a little Im no graphic arts guy by any means, so take all of this with a grain of salt...hopefully there's something useful in that mess I just typed...lol

That's pretty tight! I like it! I wonder if the co name could be made a little larger? Surely its just me being picky, but I like to have the name stand-out more than any graphic...hope that's useful...not a slam by any means..
  9. having gone to college 40 miles from Juarez, I can tell you that there is no drinking age in Mexico...the almighty $ can get you in/out of trouble in any way you can imagine...be safe!
  10. just fyi, vaca = cow in Spanish..lol...totally changes the statement.
  11. Is it safe to hit the front end with APC to loosen up bug guts? Obviously, Im not talking about leaving the product on there for more than a couple minutes or so...Just enough to help out a little on the nasty, mustard splatter looking mess. I know I asked this in another thread, so my apologies if it was answered there and I didnt see it
  12. Shane, you have the inside track on the new PC? How do you there will be one? I miss a thread on here? edit: nevermind...just saw the thread...
  13. Actually, the more I think about it, you are already off to the proper start: you are pooling the knowledge of the Adams Forum crowd! There are some real pros on here!
  14. Well, if you havent viewed the Adams videos, I would start there. Its a great collection of how-to's and there are plenty of good tips also. When I first started using Adams products, I did the following to my (garage-kept) vehicles: 0. watched the Adams videos 1. wash with dawn dish soap to remove nasty products, etc 2. clay-bar using tons of Adams DS as lube 3. (not sure if you have a Porter Cable, but I went through a long correction process with the PC and Adams pads/products) 4. finished-off with Brilliant Spray glaze, VRT and glass cleaner. oh, if you have BSG, be sure to try it on the exterior glass, its unbeleivable!
  15. I have read about many ppl doing this with good results. You have to be careful b/c the stuff is a little flammable, so use with caution. let me do some searching and see if I can find the threads I am talking about. here ya go: http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1524&highlight=undercarriage+flammable

    Good News Thread

Dan, MAJOR congrats to you and your wife! That's awesome! Best news on here, by far! I have a 2yo son and he is the best thing that has ever happened to my wife and I. And I didnt even want a kid! lol...congrats!
  17. 100% correct...I never messed with that tip and the foam gun worked great for me this past weekend...
  18. I dont remember exactly what the instruction sheet said, but that deflector is an alternative to the other tip...If I can find the instructions, I'll re-post to say what that deflector tip is good for...its certainly not needed to produce a nice wide foam fan...

    Good News Thread

Good news = Cubs Win! Cubs Win!
  20. Chris, in my experience, the BSG can take up to a couple hours to dry. It is by no means quick if the weather is humid or cold. I think 45min to an hour is par for the course... What i usually do is test a small area with my finger (wrapped in MF, of course). If I can slide my finger along the surface and create a small amount of fine dust, then its dry. If not, I find something else to do for about 30 min.
  21. great job! that color of paint might not be the flashiest, but it looks slick when shined up. an honest question here: is it safe to use APC to loosen-up dried bug-guts?
  22. Tracey, from all that I have read on here, as well as personal experience, I would say that you are ok to continue using what you have. That is, unless you just really want to upgrade. I believe the new products are improved and have advantages over the old, but the margin isnt so huge that your should toss what you have and get all new stuff... just my $.02. i know that I have been happy with my APC and gray blocks...
  23. I havent used that brand you mentioned, but I have used Megs and Zymol. I can say that Adams beats those in the following ways: 1. easy to wipe off to a clean, residue-free shine 2. the level of shine 3. smell! 4. the amount of lubrication it provides for drying, clay-barring, etc I love this stuff. It was the first Adams product I tried and still competes with BSG for my favorite Adams product.
  24. Today was my first opportunity to try out the foam gun. Unfortunately, my truck was already clean, so I had to work on the wife's DD. haha. First, I prepared the soap/water solution in the foam gun bottle. I know that Junkman has suggested a 1/4 ratio, and I really like to stick to his suggestions, but I thought I would go a little heavier on the soap. So, I went with 1/3. Also, this worked out really well because the bottle holds four cups total. I marked a line on the bottle at the 1 cup mark, then filled it with soap and water. Then, I went out and got some shots of the car. It was extra nasty! We left it outside all week and there was a lot of rain/wind/dust. Check out this mess: I then prepped the wash bucket with grit guard, Adams soap and mitt and water. Once the bucket was ready, I sprayed the tires and wheel wells down with APC to let it soak in a little. Then it was time for the fun! I mean, for the Gun! Having never experimented with this thing before, I put it on the highest foam setting to start off with (the "E" setting). Check out this foam-storm: That's some serious foam...it was super thick and clung to the sides quite well. I made sure to get the wheel wells and tires and as much of the undercarriage as I could. Then I let it sit for a minute while I added some more water to the wash bucket to create more suds. A couple shots after the wash: Also, here is a shot of the bottle after the wash. As you can see, I used a lot of soap solution for this wash. Perhaps the highest foam setting is a bit too much? I'll prolly start with the middle setting next time. In the end, I am super impressed with the foam gun and there is no way I will wash a truly dirty car without it again! Another great product from Adams!
