Just Used the Wash&Wax

TR6speed

Question

I received my latest shipment the other day and today I used the new Wash & Wax.  I was about to apply a fresh coat of the H2O Guard & Gloss, but thought I would do just a standard wash and dry.  That consist of a standard three bucket wash, one bucket of car wash shampoo for the wheels and tires and the other two for the car itself.  I did not see any difference in the application of the shampoo on the car, felt the same as the standard Adams Car Shampoo.

Once the car was washed completely, I rinsed it off with a good stream of water then the sheet rinse.  Pulled it into the garage and used the blower to remover the majority of the water.  I then applied a mist of Adams Detail Spray on the hood.  This is where I felt a big difference.  I always used the detail spray in my drying process, but this time the drying towel just simply glided over the hood surface.  It was like this for the whole car.

I think this is just another great Adams product that will be in my detail cabinet for a long time.

I kinda wish we had clear answers to questions when it comes to this product. How often to use in comparison to regular shampoo, on average how much time of protection is expected from a single application, does it replace guard gloss as it seems like similar product, etc? I see these questions all the time on the forum but it would be great to get some answers from the Adams team.

Here's the way I look at it:

There are just too many variables to have any hard-and-fast rules about when you should use what.  Your best bet is to try the product and see how it works for you. If you don't like it at all you can return it for 110%.

Most of the Adam's products I have purchased fit into my routine (or changed my routine) easily enough. A couple were a little harder to get a handle on (H2OG&G - I'm looking at YOU) but were TOTALLY worth the time it took to figure out how they best worked for me.

Myself - I haven't even tried the Wash & Wax product yet but I suspect it will lesson my use if H2OG&G a bit. It MAY even completely replace the Car Wash Shampoo but I won't know until I've worked with it a few times.

However - I will still do my twice-yearly "Full Monte" detail of strip wash, clay, polish, seal, glaze, wax because I look forward to that weekend a LOT.

I do know it does not replace the H2O G&G.  As I stated in my write up the staying power is around 4 weeks of regular use.  I am go to see if Adam or one of the other top dogs and answer the question as to is it a replacement for the standard shampoo.  But after the initial use I am please with the results.  I know I go to a local cruise in every Thursday evening and I also have a few people ask what products I use, but last night It was one after the other and saying how great the shine was on the car.

^^ Completely agree with this.

We have no intention of replacing our Car Shampoo or H2O Guard & Gloss (two of our best-sellers) with Wash & Wax. It amazes me the number of rumors that have started in the past 2 weeks (not in this thread, but phone calls, emails, etc) about this. All 3 are different products with different behaviors :)

Some want a straight cleaning shampoo, which is where the blue Car Shampoo fits in. Many people love our H2O Guard & Gloss, but some find it a little difficult to use. The Wash & Wax is another option to try out to add some quick protection in as simple of a way as possible when you do not want to do a full detail. Wash & Wax is not something I use every wash, since that's not really necessary, and it does have a slight price premium over our regular blue Car Shampoo to consider as well. H2O Guard & Gloss is a spray-on, water-activated acrylic sealant, whereas Wash & Wax is a cleaning soap that adds some silica protection as you wash.

Adam has said to Joe and myself that he would probably use it about every other wash or every third wash. Our chemists have said it could last up to 4 months with one application, as Adam states in the video, but I personally have not tested it that long on one specific vehicle since I am evaluating and testing other prototype things frequently and haven't had it on a stripped vehicle and then applied it to test longevity yet.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try my best to answer them.

I heard Adam's has a new product coming out that will wash, clay, seal, wax, protect the trim, clean and protect the interior, prevent brake dust from sticking, and add 50 hp all in one application that can be done while sitting on your couch. And smells like a 6 course meal.

When will it come out?

Dan, I do have a question.  I just got the new Wash and Wax and if you read by post that started this discussion, you see I am impressed with it.  Because my car is not a daily driver garage kept and covered many times it is cleaned with just Adams Detail Spray, Waterless Wash or the Rinseless Wash depending on the condition I don't actually do a full wash on it but maybe once a month or so.  Would you say I can use this product when I wash it, or should I only use it after a couple of normal washes with the blue shampoo?

I would say you would be fine with using it once a month or so when you wash the car without issue.

I only know of the wet method. What is the dry method?

He posted the video which will do a better job explaining than me. But, after drying the car. I wet a grey borderless towel and then ring it out. Then I have another grey towel that is dry. I spray one full spray on my fender. Wipe with the wet towel and then go back over it with the dry towel. As I go I flip both towels over as they get loaded with product. This method works great for me. I also tried spraying the H20 GG into the wet towels and then wiping a panel down. It seemed to work the same way as spraying it on the car. And depending on your car you may not need a full spray per panel.

Thanks Dan, that is very useful information.

Would I be correct in saying that if I consistently use LPS and Americana Wax every 6 months with maintenance H2O G&G every 4 weeks... then W&W would not really be necessary or that beneficial in my routine?

Also, what is your opinion on using W&W for cleaning wheels when the car is washed every week for added protection?  Current protection on wheels is LPS and passes with H20 G&G every 4 weeks.

I have a similar routine. If you replace the Americana with Patriot, that's what I do. I currently have no use for the W&W.
