If anyone going to Carlisle gets a letter in the mail from the PA Dept. of Revenue saying that they were notified you are a vendor at the event and haven't paid your taxes yet.........it's a scam. Let Carlisle Events know, or Lance, because their database may have been hacked.
The letter will be from someone named Mimi Parzanese and will look very official. It's NOT.
The date says CAC is August 17th, and the address for the Dept. of Rev. in Harrisburg is wrong.
Update on this.
If you are registered in the Reserved Fun Field or the Chips Circle, you may or may not get this letter. After working with Lance Miller and his staff for the last couple of days, we've worked to figure it out that it's NOT a scam, that the letter is really from the PA Dept. of Revenue.
BUT what happened is that Carlisle Events, in order to be able to keep track of all spaces that are already taken, put everyone's names into their vendor file on their database who is either parking in the RESERVED area, or the CHIPS CIRCLE. When the state asked for their vendor lists for the show, they didn't sort out who was a vendor and who was just a participant so all our names (about 200 of them) went to the state as vendors.
Best thing to do if you get a letter is to call the number on the letter and let them know (like they ask in the letter) that you are NOT a vendor, never have been, and that the problem is with Carlisle. This woman, Mimi, is a pain in the arse to deal with. Very condescending . My wife would have choked her if she could have reached through the phone.
But Carlisle and Lance have assured me that the misunderstanding has been cleared up, and that it will not happen again next year.
So now I can go and relax at the show. It's all good.
