If you have Adams Revive I would try that first using a drill and foam applicator.
If that does not do it I have used 1000 grit but most of the time sanding does not seem to last real long. It is basically sun damage to most headlights from the UV rays.

I have revive but this damage for sure needs to be wetsanded.  You can actually feel the texture on the lights.

According to how soft the lenses are you might want to consider putting on a XPEL or similar brand Headlight Kit once you have them cleaned up and then seal over the film.  I have only done it once and it worked very well and the film was easy to install on the headlights.   As @shane@detailedreflections always reminds us, least aggressive first for the sanding, polish, etc.,.  not only will it save you time and effort, it will also prevent additional damage.

The XPEL is a good idea.  That was my main concern post sanding that the damage was going to come back.  I had thought I saw some people had clearcoated headlights after refinishing them.  I tihnk the film would be a good alternative.

  2. When my wife bought her car used a few years back it only had one issue.  The headlights looked like crap.  They are pitted and the clear is peeling.  I've done a basic headlight polish with my swirl killer a year or so ago and have just kept applying sealant to them to prevent further damage.  Shes finally complained about them so I want to fix them. How would you tackle these?  Obviously they need a wet sand but where should I start?  Also I've heard you have to reclear them once you stand them.  Is this true?  I've never had to was actually refinish a headlight so I dont want go screw them up, seeing as replacements are $400+ a pop.

Might be hard to see but the tops of the lights are the main issue.  All the speckles are pitting and chipping of the plastic coating.

I would recommend bi-weekly maintenance with the Cockpit Brush to keep them clean and looking great. Gently brush the seat to remove light dirt and dust from the micro suede material. You want to be very careful with putting too much chemical onto suede and Alcantara surfaces, as the material can be damaged if it gets too wet. If they do ever get dirty or a stain in them, I will use one or two sprays of our Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner sprayed into an Edgeless Utility Towel, and then gently wipe the stain and immediately dry the area as much as possible with a second dry Edgeless Utility Towel.

Are the windows tinted? Some of the paint protection film brands on the market now offer optically clear window tint that block up to 99% of UV rays as well.

That's basically the procedure I've been doing.  The windows are tinted so that should help.  I even tinted the only window in my garage to help keep the uv rays out.  I guess I'll keep doing as you said.  Thanks everyone!

Looking at it from another view/a different idea - Given that currently the website doesn't display items as back ordered (only out of stock), it makes sense that they ship what they can and then ship the remaining item(s) later as they become available.

If they were able to have items show as back-ordered on the website, I'd be ok with my whole order being held for shipping until everything is available. I'm sure not everyone would be on board, but I feel like it could help reduce unneeded shipping costs on their end and decrease some confusion/issues with people receiving their order and an item or two not being present. I know the first time I received an order and an item was back-ordered, I didn't see the note right away and was thoroughly confused as to where my wax was.

I gotta agree with this.  I'm not even upset the ceramic spray didn't show up, just wish I would have been informed prior.  I would have still ordered it but not wasted my time preparing for it to arrive.  They should take a que off amazon and code in an option to split up shipping or wait for all items and ship at once, per customer request.  This can only benefit Adam's, unless their current business model is resulting in a lot of split shipping that is making them eat the cost.  Then it would likely benefit the end users overall cost too.

To go along with Hype Marketing 101

They did a great job at marketing this stuff.  Hopefully they figure out how to code in "backordered" on the description next time lol.  With the way people are these days, I see no good coming from not telling people the stuff they ordered isnt in stock anymore on top of letting it be a surprise when they open their box of products and it not being in there.

I think i would contact the manufacturer of the seats and see what they recommend.

I have, all they recommend is buying their seat covers lol.  I may end up doing it but was hoping for a suggestion of something that would prevent fading without the need of a cover.  I wasnt sure if scotchguard actually repelled uv rays and fading.

Maybe consider a nice seat cover to protect them.   Did they come Scotchguarded or any fabric protectant at all?

They didn't come scothguarded or anything.  I guess that's an option and just leaving them covered.

First off, what kind of car we talking about?? Would love to see pics of it!!

I think Rich has a good point, keep the seats covered in the garage, then take them off for the few days she gets out to play.

I'll get a few good pics this week. It's nothing special, just an LS swapped 91 mustang.  Its clean, drives great, and has lots done to it but it's no veyron lol.  I still have more planned for the engine in the next year.

  8. I installed some Corbeau LG1 micros suede seats in my car over the summer.  Now the car is not a daily driver and isnt taken out of the garage except when I drive it, maybe 10 or so days a year.  I have heard the Corbeau micro suede seats fade easy, even when not exposed to direct sunlight.  Is there any product I can use to help prevent this, that wont ruin the micro suede?

Anybody waiting a long time for their order to ship.....it’s been “processing” for over a week now.

If spray ceramic coating is all you ordered, it probably wont be shipping yet.  I got my order with a card that said it's currently backordered.  Which sucks big time, I clayed, polished, prepped, counting on receiving the spray yesterday.  When I got my package and saw the card I was like wtf?  Would have been nice to know it was backordered when I placed the order.  So I ran to the garage and applied a coat of sealant.  Now I'll have to strip that off again once it arrives.  Whenever that is.

I love the selfie holding the huge pile of dirty towels, classic!  Great job man.

LOL yea, i really need to get another container for dirty towels.  I hadnt thought about it until I took that pic and noticed the reflection.  Also I'd like to add the curves of the car make it look like I have woman hips in the reflection.  I can promise yall I do not LOL.

  11. That instagram post convinced me to buy the CSC.  I wasnt going to because i need to use up the americana and buttery wax i have and i literally received an order last week.  Buuuuut, I need to correct the roof on my truck this week, figured that would be a good test area for this stuff.  It such a pain to get up there and work on, this stuff should make it easier plus provide good protection once the summer texas sun beat down later on.

  12. I hope this thread isnt only for professional detailers.  Washed my truck today and my wifes car looked miserable, having not been washed in probably 4-5 months.  Thank God for grit guards, ultra foam soap, and turbo sticks lol.  I hate washing her wheels.  Ended up doing some correction on the roof and hood.  Apparently her wiper blade flew out and scuffed up her roof and windshield.  Most of the damage came out but i need to go back over with heavy correcting compound to fix it completely.  The car needs to be clayed too but I hadnt planned to work on it today and got a late start and ran out of time.  I dont know when ill be able to keep her car for an entire day again so I just applied LPS and Americana.  Cleaned the tires, trim, and plastic with TRC, applied TA, and undercarriage spray.    I missed a couple spots on the wiper cowl, my fingers are too big lol.  I need to invest in a wiper arm puller.  I wish I would have taken some before pics, the car looked terrible lol.

  13. Figured I add to this post.  Washed the wifes car today and decided to apply the tire armor since her car doesnt get washed as often.  One less thing to spend time cleaning as thoroughly.  It took about 6-7 rounds of scrubbing with tire cleaner to get the foam to be completely white.  Her tires were very brown and nasty.  I applied two coats of the TA and I think it looks good.  Not as much shine as VRT or TS but good enough for me.

  14. I've always thought the lug nut brush wasnt adequate enough and never really cleans caked on road grime very well.  Its more of a thick paint brush IMO.  It doesnt really clean the barrels of the lug nut holes and on splined lug nuts, doesnt clean the cervices.  I just had an idea about making a hollow/concave brush of some kind that will be thin enough to fit between the lug nut barrel and the lug nut.  Something with soft bristles obviously.
