Well, sad to hear the paint is ruined, hopefully it doesnt require too much to get things redone.

This could be the issue, I understand washing it, but there could be a whole lot of bad stuff on there from the road, OR the Buttery could be reacting with whatever product the dealer prepped the car with that did not come off in a simple wash. It is up to you at this point if you want to put the efforts in to find the cause of the issue but it seems to me that there is something reacting with the product. I am by no means an Adams expert but for the ease of use buttery is a favorite of mine.

Let us know how the conversation went when you speak with them. If you look around here you will see that their customer service staff is very helpful and goes out of their way to help customers.

As to the issues by hand, It makes me wonder if you are using too much product on the applicator. Personally I have not had any trouble by hand and I do not use a machine for it, just the yellow hex grip.

pirahnah3 got a reaction from kb9nate in Detail spray then Brilliant Glaze after a wash?
ITs just fine, what I tend to do is use the DS as a drying process and then do a quick coat of BG over it as th BG offers the best shine but shortest life span.

@falcaineer is right on with this one. Hopefully they have not fully bonded with the surface and can be fairly easily removed.

To me, trades are trades, you either are willing or are not willing to make the trade. Its like buying a product at the store. If you like the price you purchase the item, if you dont you look elsewhere. If you dont like the price Adams is charging for a product do you look for another one? Did the pressure washer the put up for sale make you pause? They are essentially doing the same thing, trade your cash for their product in the end you just need to decide if its worth it.

As stated in the Garage sale rules: "Buyer and seller beware! Adam's Polishes and the Adam's Forums team accept no responsibility for transactions conducted here, although repeated issues or complaints associated with a particular member may result in that member having their private sale privileges revoked."

Plastic razor blades work well for this. Maybe add some DS or WW to the mix to add some lubricity.

I'm still concerned it's etching and nothing besides wetsanding/repaint will fully fix it. Have you gone to the dealer? @pirahnah3gives some great advice above.

If you decide to keep trying on your own, even if they don't work, the products we recommend and/or you get will only come in handy down the road anyway. All of them can be used over and over. But you might be chasing your tail on this particular issue.

That said, don't forget DS to use as a lubricant for the clay. You can also use diluted RW (64:1). It's possible and almost certain the rest of your car, even if new, needs to be clayed. To check, do the baggie test: first, run your bare hand over the paint in a few areas around the car. Now, place your hand in a plastic zip loc bag, and gently run your hand over the same areas. Feel those bumps? Those are embedded contaminants picked up along the way, including rail dust, etc. Removing them will make your paint super smooth, but clay can cause some marring. If you don't have a polisher, that may be harder to fix. What all do you have?

IMO, yes, get PS and apply it to your car. PS (or wax or coating) adds a sacrificial, protective layer over your clear and paint that's not there now. Using it will help with these sorts of things, but bird droppings and the like should still be removed as soon as you can. Youll want either grey microfiber applicator pads or grey foam pads, if you have a polisher. Read this for more on product differences.

Revive is worth a shot, but again, I'm not highly optimistic since it does look like etching to me. If you get it, get the blue hex grip applicator, too.

Something else I just thought of...do you have BG? The solvents in it settle to the top and might be useful to try on this. Plus, BG fully mixed will add a lot of pop to the paint and can be used inside the windshield to remove the haze common to interior glass. You'll want some microfiber applicator pads, too, if you get it.

Since new towels don't do the same, that points to your process/machines. @pirahnah3 had a good question about the washer, and same applies to the dryer. Like @imatt27, I always hang dry mine.

Have your tried boiling them to possibly remove any residue?

Looks like a great canvas that doesnt need a whole lot of attention. Work benches and such should be designed to function for what you use them for. I have gotten to the point that I just will not buy one at a store as there is always some point that is being sacrificed for what I want to use them for. The nice thing with this is that you can size it exactly how you like and make it fit into spots that normally things wouldnt fit into. IT can also allow for an easy way to make it taller or shorter than average based on your needs. One quick idea for work benches in garages, I like to put small paver blocks or concrete pads under the legs that way any water or anything that gets on the floor is not soaking into the legs of shelves or benches.

The dealer didn't do anything to the paint so whatever is on it was done at the factory.  Yes, of course I washed it.

Buttery is traditionally effortless to apply and wipe off. So not sure what you have going on.

I do not use it because it does not last long enough but my experience is easy on/off.

As Jim said I would contact Adams.

My 2 cents thrown in.  I agree with @pirahnah3. Sounds to me like there was a reaction between the dealer-applied sealant and the BW at the chemical make-up level.  The buttery wax is a carnauba blend with polymers and the dealer sealant may be SI02 based or some other chemical blend that doesn't play well with either the carnauba or the polymers.

My thought and @pirahnah3 can vouche for it, if I'm initiating the trade for something I want I'll put up a higher value.

In the end it needs to be FAIR for both parties. The value needs to be as close to the same as possible or more if its something you really really want.

Paint protection films are commonly treated just like paint. The exception is polishing. They don’t tolerate heat from polishing like paint and are subject to marring if you do.

Otherwise it will seal, wax or ceramic like paint.

Just looking for an overall thought process at this point, no firm plans are made or even thought about yet.

OK so I was being totally OCD. The car is probably about 95% perfect. Those LED lights definitely show more than natural light does. Anyways, here are some pics of the final products. Sorry for the pressure washer and master blaster in the pics. I was just super excited on how great it turned out and wanted pics right away.

If the wash water turns red, stop there, as the clear coat has failed (that is what it looks like to me).  You can try polishing, but you will be down to the base coat (or worse!).
