UPDATED: nice desert photo shoot on sheet 2.

Traded my Jeep in for a 2016 Camaro SS with the 2ss package one week ago. Dealer was want to buy our $700 sealant, I showed him a picture of my detailing cart and he said yeah you don't want that hahahaha. Paint is called mosaic black and has gold flakes in it.

So this past Saturday did my first detail on her.
Started by cleaning wheels and tires using wheel cleaner and rubber and tire cleaner. Then foam gunned the car, followed by a 2 bucket washed, then dried.

Did clay bar test with plastic bag to see how it was. I figured it would need to be clayed, but was surprised how bad it really was. Guess it makes sense sitting out in lot and transport. So clayed whole car.

Then applied paint sealant to whole car including glass, wheels. Then followed up with patriot.

I'm the care taker of Adam's truck right now here on the east coast, and it was in need of some major detailing attention!
I picked it up in Ramsey, MN a few weeks ago. It was there having a larger awning attached to the trailer we use at several shows.
I flew out of Harrisburg, PA on a Friday afternoon, connected in Charlotte, NC

and ended up in Minneapolis, Minnesota after dark. I made my way to Ramsey via Uber to stay over night in the local Comfort Suites.
A short half mile walk in the rain early the following morning and I made my way to the rig to start my 1,100 mile journey back to Carlisle, PA.

Somewhere just east of Chicago, IL Saturday afternoon, the sky's had finally cleared:

Sunday afternoon I had the trailer placed in its spot for the following weeks Fall Carlisle Swap Meet and Collector Car Corral.

The new awning is awesome! It's 20' out from the trailer vs. the 12' the old one is. This allows us to now have six tables of product set up along with two three sided racks of towels, brushes, and other accessories under complete cover, still leaving ample room to walk around. The 12' awning set up is still in the trailer and available for use at smaller shows and events.

Fall Carlisle ended, we loaded up the trailer, make arrangements to leave it over winter on the fairgrounds, and I brought the truck home with me. The vehicle needs some service, and as I'm only an hour from Carlisle, and the one orchestrating the Carlisle Events, it just made sense for me to deal with it.
Well it was filthy, inside and out. I washed it once in 2015, and I believe the Adam's employees did something with it while it was in Colorado last winter, as there were obvious tape marks down the center of the roof and hood, but nobody's touched it since. I believe I recall seeing it in a demo video for something they filmed last winter.
In 2016 it came to Carlisle from CO for the Ford National's in June, went to Columbus, OH for The Goodguys Show there, back to Carlisle for the Chrysler Show, then after Corvettes at Carlisle it headed west to Effingham, IL for the Mid America Corvette Show there. After Mid America off to Ramsey, MN where I picked it up to bring it back to Carlisle.

This truck's big, real big. 2009 Chevy Club Cab Silverado 3500HD One Ton Dually. 6.6 Liter Duramax Diesel, with a Detroit Allison Transmission.

A couple/few evenings of labor for a week, 32 ounces of Leather & Interior Cleaner, some APC, VRT, In & Out Spray, Interior Detailer, Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner, Glass Cleaner and I got the inside looking fairly respectable.

All Leather received a good, and well needed, conditioning with Adam's Leather Conditioner. Yea, the seat belts are dirty, what of it?

Saturday I began to wash the vehicle. I first used my pressure washer to remove the bugs from the front.

Oh, notice how the low beams are on? I'd just replaced the burnt out right one.

Foam Cannon with 3 ounces of Strip Wash was laid down and allowed to dwell for several minutes. Another 2 ounces of strip wash in my wash bucket followed and she was cleaned with the two bucket method.

Wheels, Tires, Mud Flaps, and Inner Fenders/Wheel Wells were cleaned and dressed. APC, Wheel Cleaner, Tire & Rubber Cleaner, Undercarriage Dressing, Tire Shine (all six tires), VRT, and Quick Sealant (yes I still have several cans stashed away )

The next week I was away for my day job until Wednesday. Once home I cleaned the door jambs, and in around the doors and hinges. There was way too much grease on the door hinges, and rust proofing was over sprayed in many places. 16 ounces of APC to get them looking okay. I had to keep telling myself, "this is a work truck, not a show truck". LOL! I also dressed all the rubber door seals with VRT.
Thursday and Friday evenings I clayed the truck, including all the glass. The Strip Wash did a pretty decent job of removing a lot of the contaminants on the paint. However, I still destroyed a brand new Visco Clay Refill.

I took care of a bit of damage on the passenger's side of the bed. Something had fallen across it and left a dent, deep scratches, removed some clear, and broke off the amber side marker.

This truck appears to have been repainted, so guess what's under the clear coat that's coming off? the OEM clear!
Saturday and Sunday were spent polishing. I addressed the chrome and stainless exhaust exhaust tip early before all the dew was off the paint. I used my Rupes Mini with the Blue Foam Metal Pads and Metal Polishes #'s 1 & 2.
    Before:

    After:

Since the truck was sitting outside it got wiped down several times with Waterless Wash; before claying, and before any polishing. No need to add any more scratches, swirls, or holograms than it already had.
I dressed all the exterior plastics and trim with a heavy coat of VRT and/or In & Out Spray. This was done to protect those areas from Polish or Sealant staining them in case I touched them, it worked well.
    Test panel:
    Before:

    After:

    Yea, that'll do!

Flex XC3401VRG, Orange Microfiber Pad, Paint Correcting Polish; one step, two passes on most panels, that's it. In tight areas I used the Rupes Mini, or Rupes Nano Long Neck, and on big flat surfaces like the roof and hood I broke out the Rupes Bigfoot21 Mark II.
    Passenger's side front door:

Sunday afternoon one coat of Paint Sealant was laid down using my Porter Cable 7424XP and a Grey Foam Pad. Kyle, who helps at some of the Carlisle Events, stopped by to lend a much appreciated hand. Brilliant Glaze was applied to the Clear Bra Material, Quick Sealant was applied to the entire front end as well as to all chrome and stainless. I also applied Quick Sealant to the plastic headlights (I'd polished the headlights and tail lights too), Glass Sealant was applied to the windshield, and the exterior glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner using the new microfiber glass cleaning towels. Just for kicks and to pass time while we downed a beer, we applied a layer of Buttery Wax to the hood and top edges of the front fenders.
Adam had sent me some DOT registration stickers for the truck:

I installed them prior to applying the Paint Sealant:

Where the stickers went I polished that area to perfection. Figured another polisher wasn't going to be touching that area any time soon. In this area I followed up the Orange Microfiber Pad with an Orange Foam Pad and Paint Correcting Polish, then a White Foam Pad with Paint Finishing Polish.

    Done!

    Final touch:

Well have not posted any pics of the camaro since  I bought her and did her first detail.. Threw on a coat of buttery wax this past weekend (decided to use this instead of my patriot because i plan on doing a full detail sometime in dec and did not want to waste my patriot and was going to a car show and wanted that extra shine.).  Also used the wheel cleaner, tire shine, glass cleaner and detail spray to help make her shine. Also took some pics with both cars clean.

Thanks. I ended up doing a full correction on all the painted surfaces. For the parts with clear bra I used detail spray and sealant.

Up next is some glaze and two coats of patriot wax for what will hopefully be eye popping depth.

Here's a sneak peek of it sealed though. Hopefully the pic comes up right. I turned it horizontal like you suggested.

So I've got some time off from work after having surgery to remove a few bone spurs from my ankle. I decided it was time to give my Lotus Evora some proper love. It only has 4,000 miles on it but it's had some swirls from the dealer I just hadn't gotten to taking care of yet. Most people wouldn't even notice them, but I know they're there and it's enough to bother me.

The car wasn't horribly dirty before, but figured I'd document the process a little bit. Here's a few before pics...so far I've gotten it strip washed and decontaminated with DWC. Just getting ready to start claying, but ended up starting a thread while I grabbed a bite to eat. It might take me a few days before the final product is really done. But I'll update here and there as I go! Enjoy!

And if anyone knows why my photos post at different roatations from my phone, I'd love to know why. And more importantly how to fix it.

Well...when I was big into detailing, I had my GTO and GXP but since those are gone, and I sold my truck recently, I bought something that was very good on gas, fun to drive, and something that I could still mod.

The Black 2016 Jetta Sport 1.8T. I know, nothing like the GTO or GXP, but I hope to be back into an LS or LT car soon...

I have a client who uses this as his daily driver and it lives outside 24/7.  Needless to say, it needed a little love from the good doctor at Autodermatology.

A two-step correction was on deck along with a minor interior cleanup, and of course the wheels were hammered.

As you will see below, the majority of the products I used were from Adam’s Polishes.  I wanted to give them another shot and see what kind of results could be achieved from his products, mainly the compounds/polishes/pads.  I currently use a few of his products-glass cleaner, tire dressing, APC, wheel cleaner, etc on a regular basis. So, I wanted to see if these were up to the task for professional use.

Manly machines:  Rupes nano iBrid longneck, and a 15mm longthrow.

Pads: Rupes 1” and 2” pads.  Adam’s Polishes orange (heavy) and white (light) cutting/polishing pads.

Chemicals:  Wolfgang auto bathe, SCG Pro strip wash, Kenotek anti-insect, Adam’s deep wheel cleaner, Adam’s APC, Adam’s tire and rubber cleaner, Adam’s glass cleaner, Adam’s TID interior, Adam’s VRT for tire dressing.

LSP: undisclosed sealant that I am beta testing.

    Vacuum via Metro.

    Misc microfiber towels were used.

Tuff shine tire brush, Daytona speedmaster and other misc brushes.

    Clayed via nano wash mitt.

I found the paint in atrocious condition: Swirls, scratches, haziness, water spots/streaks, etc.  It was poor to say the least.

The wheels/tires have never been touched since the dealer slung some greasy dressing on them a few thousand miles ago.

The paint was pretty soft and corrected easily.  I was happy with the results I was achieving with the products/system I was using.

End result:  I believe I breathed new life into this Procharged beast!!  My client was stunned with the results and said he knew it was very bad on drop off.

Doctor Scott at Autodermatology had another successful surgery!!!

Well, it took me 10 months but I finally got the chance to do a full correction on my 2015 Camaro SS. If I knew now what a huge difference it makes, I definitely wouldn't have waited so long. I'm hooked now.

I've been using Adam's products for the 10 months I've owned the car to provide protection until I could get around to a full correction. Mostly H20 GG and a few applications of Buttery and of course lot's of detail spray. I was hooked immediately on how great everything worked. When I finally got around to buying some double soft towels, I was horrified when I was wiping down my car and the finish was so full of crap that it was literally grabbing fibers from the double soft towels. Baggie test confirmed my worst fears. Keep in mind this was a new car at the time but it was really late in the model year and I'm sure this car sat on the lot for several months. Not to mention it was obviously washed via the dealer method: mop bucket, cheap soap and broom/brush used to wash several cars on the lot. Definitely had the dealer installed swirl package! This whole process took 2 1/2 days since it's still super hot in Florida and I could only stand it in my garage until about 11 a.m. With cooler weather, I could do this in one day (probably a long 10 hour day).

OK, here's the rundown: Started with a good rinse and then full hose down of Strip Wash in a foam gun. Proceeded with two bucket wash with more strip wash. Went over car twice with Strip Wash to make sure everything was gone. Water sheeted readily with no beading. It was squeaky clean.

Pulled car in garage while still wet and proceeded to clay entire car with detail spray to include glass. Clay bar was almost black when I got done. Unbelievable how much trash was in the paint. It literally felt like sandpaper and it was easy to tell that the clay bar was doing it's job as it would smooth out noticeably after a few passes.

Paint Correcting Polish applied with orange pad and Porter Cable 7424. Used the orange microfiber pad on trunk lid. The Camaro holds water on the trunk lid and there was some major water spots. Really surprised at how tough they were to remove.

Paint Finishing Polish with white buffing pad. Again, using the Porter Cable.

OK, so now the paint is completely naked and I'm getting ready to apply Liquid Paint Sealant but I got to thinking about all the detail spray I used during the polishing process. I used it to prime the polishing pads and also to wipe down as I went along. I actually called Adam's and talked to Dan and we discussed that there is a slight amount of carnauba wax in Detail Spray but it shouldn't be a problem with the LPS adhering to the paint. Well, my OCD got the better of me so I wiped down the entire car with Waterless Wash (old clear/blue kind with no polymers) hoping to get the paint perfectly clean. Then LPS was applied, allowed to flash for 30 minutes and wiped off. After 1 hour of curing time, I applied a second coat of LPS, let flash and removed. By this time it was getting way too hot in the garage so I called it a day and let the car sit overnight.

Next morning I carefully wiped car down with detail spray to remove any dust and proceeded with one of my favorites: Brilliant Glaze. OK, now the results are really starting to show. I don't know what's in this stuff but it floors me every time I use it.

Then came the Patriot!  This can almost be described as a sensual experience wiping this stuff off as it begin to reveal the fruits of all my labor. I was completely blown away to see what a huge difference a full correction made. Now I could see what the big deal is. The shine is absolutely stunning and the following pics do absolutely no justice whatsoever. I'm completely hooked and will make a supreme effort to do this twice a year. The only downside with this process is that I don't want to drive my car... ever... The thought of bugs or a nasty bird bomb haunts me in my sleep.

    Anyway, just do it!

P.S. the Porter Cable was perfectly adequate but I'm definitely buying a Rupes for the next one.

Hey ya'll. From my username, you guys can probably assume I spend a lot of time out to sea. Exactly half of each year, actually. I spend 3 weeks out on an oil tanker, then I get 3 weeks home to do whatever I want. Well, I'm only 24 so I'm really active and have been trying to figure out a good hobby to do when I'm home. My fiancee and I have decided to try to expand our love of detailing to other people. Currently, we're only doing free details and basically trying to get our work out through word of mouth. I only use Adam's products, and so far people have been absolutely amazed. With some top notch products and super attention to detail, I think my little hobby is going to take off, and hopefully I can make a little money on the side to help pay for our wedding! Well here's a few shots of the pearl white Nissan Altima we did today. I already have another couple cars and trucks lined up, and maybe the neighbor down the street will eventually let me detail his Lambo and Ferrari... And I'll just keep adding my projects to this thread. Anyways, here you go. Shine on!
