DREWBUSH reacted to shane@detailedreflections in NEW Clay Mitt Review
I don't know if they're going for "quick and easy" or trying to provide more options.  You may only do a detail or two a year on your own vehicle and the time isn't a huge deal.  When you start working on cars for clients, your perspective changes.  If I can trim time off the process without affecting the final product, I'd be crazy not to do it.  Time is margin.  Margin is money.  I have an obligation to my business and my clients to offer a streamlined, time efficient process and to make smart buying decisions.  If I don't do those things I end up losing money or having to increase prices to keep up and make the work profitable...or worse case scenario, both.

To be honest, the need for different tools and sizes of product has lead me away from exclusively using Adam's Polishes.  I still utilize them as much as I can, but if there's a more cost effective alternative that won't change the quality of the final job...I'm all in.  Having only 8 ounce bottles of product such as polishes forced me to seek alternatives.  As such, Adam's isn't my go-to supplier for polish now despite how well the product works.

My point being that I believe Adam's is trying to offer different tools to different clients for their different needs.  It's hard to please everyone, and not every client is a user of every product.  I'm sure they're well aware the clay mitt isn't for all their customers.  I did order one to put it through it's paces and see how it works and if it simplifies a process for us where we anticipate having to polish anyway (removing the negative of any marring that exists since it'll be polished out anyway).

Adam's seems to do a decent job of market analysis to evaluate the viability of their new products.  Overall, they seem to listen to what people want (although gallons of Odor Neutralizer are still on hold for some reason).  I'd still like to see larger quantities come back of some products (polishes being one).  If they started offering polish in 32 ounce sizes, I'd be a user.  Like I'd mentioned, something for everyone and not everyone uses everything.

Overall I'd say Adam's is on the ball with listening to the wants and needs of their customers.

DREWBUSH got a reaction from imcrazy in NEW Clay Mitt Review
I just started using the "other guys" clay block, which is sort of the same synthetic material as the mitt, but smaller. I would have gotten the mitt, but i literally got the block 2 weeks before the release. It saved me a huge amount of time. My daily sits outside 24/7 and gets crapped on everyday, bug guts and other junk. The synthetic material knocked it off with almost no effort. I do find if you press to hard or roll it on its edge, it will grab or leave a scuff mark as others have said. Light pressure and lube. I cant say about leaving marks, since my vehicle needs correcting already( i correct once a year, and LPS twice a year. So I wont know until winter time. Well, actually I intend on cleaning the wifes new golf in the next week or two. And I will report back then.

DREWBUSH got a reaction from Checo in how much soap do you put in the foam gun
I started filling my foam gun with warm/hot waster. Not hot enough to burn your skin, but like a hot shower. I then add my soap and give it a little shake. I think it helps the soap mix easier. By the time I get all my other items out and buckets prepped, the water in the gun is closer to ambient temp. That way im not worried about accidently striping any protection off my vehicles.

Did you thoroughly clean out your foam gun after the first use? You might have had residual in it that may have caused some sealant removal.

speaking of needing a detail. This Bentley came off the delivery truck like this. Basically they pulled the protective cover off and bam, factory installed swirls. Our detail guys hate doing them, because Bentleys are the most work to correct. There were at least 4 different sections of beautiful swirls from a rotary polisher. And thats black paint.

I use an old one I bought years ago, its seen better days. It has threads pulled up causing bunching, but it still works pretty well for drying. I do need to constantly ring it out when using it though. And it does not get all the water off first pass. I usually will make a quick pass and get the majority of the water off, then make a second pass and get all the residual moisture off. Towel is old, so it may not be as effective as it once was.

On a side note, I have just purchased 4 MF plush towels and starting to use those as my drying towels(on a recommendation from someone that details more than me), and so far so good. Its only been one use, and the towels are still new. So a few more washes before I decide if its the technique I want to start using.

also when driving, turn your ac on(have the compressor operating, doesnt have to be cold, just whatever temp you like) and set the system to recirculate. That way, you keep running the interior air volume over the evaporator and help to remove some of the moisture that is in the interior.

No, it is not a conditioner/softener.

Microfiber Revitalizer & Brightener is a detergent designed specifically for removing waxes, polymers, polishes, and oils commonly associated with detailing.  While it is often used as a pre-treatment that is sprayed on stains or soiled areas, it is also used as the detergent when machine washing.  Just add 2-3 ounces to the deterent dispenser in the washer (not the bleach or fabric softener trays).

Regular laundry detergent is not strong enough to remove many of the detailing products from towels.

DREWBUSH reacted to Dan@Adams in FAQ - "Do the products have a shelf life?"
Our newest Circle A logo labels came out in March of this year; however judging the other products by comparing the red stripe vs chrome stripe on the labels isn't always going to be easy to determine down to a particular time frame. For example, on some products like our Waterless Wash and Undercarriage Spray, we had an over-abundance of the chrome labels, so those were never updated to the red stripe label without the chrome, at least to my knowledge. I can't say for sure when each specific product switched over from one label to the other, sorry for the inconvenience.

All of those products pictured should last through a few years, so you should be fine. I've never really had a bottle of Car Shampoo go bad other than one that accidentally froze and cracked the bottle out in my uninsulated garage in the winter. APC and LIC will last a few years - the plastic bottle of the LIC and APC would probably fail before the product goes bad. Revive and LPS should last a good while too as long as they are kept in a temperature controlled environment and the caps are closed to prevent any drying out of the product inside. I've had gallons of DS that were still good after 2 years, but again they were kept temperature controlled, same with VRT.

I do have one bottle of Tire Shine that is about 10 months old now that is starting to break down a little and lose its original smell, but it was also left out in my very hot garage for a few weeks as a test.

Let us know if you have any other questions, thanks!

I have similar products as you, but even older previous versions of them. I have old red car wash soap, Old detail spray, the old VRT, the old Leather cleaner and conditioner, and Machine Super Wax which is the previous to the liquid paint sealant. All those were from 2009-2010. And they honestly still work fine, I am using them on my old truck which just sits in the driveway. I am planning to do an "old school product" detail and see how well she comes out. Just waiting for the temp to drop and the sun to stay away for half a day.

theres nothing like the satisfaction of doing the job yourself. Just get your game plan set, and have at it. Once you do it right, you will always knitpick someone elses work. It always takes longer to do the job right, but then you know it was done right.
