buffalobob920 reacted to Sizzle Chest in 1969 Roadrunner...aka...Ragingbird!!! @Barrett-Jackson!
I was at the Barrett-Jackson auction for a few days last week/weekend and had the opportunity to detail this crazy creation from Bairs Customs!
It's a on-off custom build, 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner. Sherwin-Williams custom paint color-Purple Rage, blown big inch hemi, discs all the way around, plenty of carbon fiber, big wheels, etc thru and thru.
This was the debut of the vehicle and it was being shown in the Dodge booth/area of the auction. It was fresh out of the shop and paint booth and had a few issues. Sanding marks, some scratches and plenty of swirls.
It needed to look GREAT for the display as well as for it's debut at the Palm Beach Cars and Coffee on Sunday.
It was cut with Adam's polishes fast correcting compound, MF pads, Swirl Killer polisher (both 15mm full size and their mini) along with Adam's correcting polish and finishing polish with the corresponding pads.
It took some time to cover all the real estate, but in the end, the results were worth it!!

How can you tell something would scratch from a screenshot from a live video feed? Just a suggestion to maybe wait to try something out before jumping to conclusions.
Thanks for the constructive feedback guys
Here's some early hi-res pictures to Adamsforums members first, since I love you guys so much, despite the negative feedback
New Premium Microfiber Wash Sponge. It's a foam sponge wrapped in essentially a microfiber material very similar to our Single Soft Towels.
New Adam's Ultra Plush Drying Towel
New Adam's Wood Coasters
All coming soon. More info to follow. The white bags from the Instagram story are just small shopping bags to put products in for walk-in customers, events, etc.

Is there any way to get the Tire Shine to stick longer? Seems like as soon as water hits it its gone. I'm one of the oddballs that like the look of a shiny tire.

buffalobob920 reacted to SumBeach35 in VRT vs. Tire Shine
Personally, for a matte black finish, I've been using only the tire and rubber cleaner.
I've yet to use the Adams tire shine but with VRT, I'll apply it liberally then after 5 minutes go and wipe it off with an old microfiber. Cuts down on the sheen.

I used tire shine today, did a fast once over with the hex applicator, and 2 minutes later drove to work and was parinoid the whole way about sling... Not a drop on my paint or wheel wells! Very impressed.

buffalobob920 reacted to Dan@Adams in VRT vs. Tire Shine
It usually takes me 2-3 passes on most tire compounds as well, but I have had some tires clean up incredibly fast and easy. I attribute the ease or difficulty of cleaning to several factors - tire manufacturer, driving conditions, type of tire dressings previously applied to the tire, etc.

On the initial cleaning of a tire I agree. I got good results on the first pass. I did the second pass to get the rest, and most of my foam was white. I did the third pass just because this is a new vehichle prep and I wanted to ensure I started with the best possible foundation.
I will follow up with Tire Shine as my maintenance dressing from here on out until I get new tires.
Oh! And thank you for the compliments.

New car prep. 3 passes of tire and rubber cleaner. (Third was t necessary.... just felt like having an insurance policy.
Dried with sidekick and then one coat of vrt on the tires.

VRT is the most straight forward to what you're looking for. I'm doing a 'new car prep' on a new car over the next few days. After Tire & Rubber Cleaner, I'll air dry the tire and wheel with the sidekick and then throw on a nice even coat of VRT. When I'm done with the detail I'll come back over it, and then maintain with Tire Shine. Ususally when I'm applying Tire Shine, I squirt 2 to 3 shots into a foam block and play ring around the tire. It's not a 'matte' finish, but more of a satin finish.

Hi there, welcome to the forum!
My vote is for VRT in this instance. If it's raining 3-4 days a week, both products are going to wear down more quickly than usual, but you will get more applications out of one bottle of VRT rather than spraying Tire Shine - a few small drops of VRT onto an applicator block can usually cover at least 1/3 of a sidewall circumference for me. I usually apply VRT twice a week on my daily driver - I want it to always look good, and it takes me less than 4 minutes to do all four tires, so I guess that makes me insane
To get the matte look with Tire Shine, you will need to keep rubbing the product in with more effort to knock down the shine to the desired look. Again this is my opinion on the matter and others may offer completely different input...that's what's great about this forum

Don't have experience with doing this, but I can offer a thought for others to maybe weigh in on...have you tried keeping the red cap insert and lid on instead of the sprayer? The cap creates a tight seal, so maybe that could solve your issue.

I use a microfiber detergent only

buffalobob920 reacted to TheWolf in Oxi boost for washing MF towels?
I would recommend only using Microfiber Revitalizer & Brightener without any other detergents. MFR&B is a strong detergent designed specifically for removing waxes, polymers, polishes, and oils commonly associated with detailing. Regular laundry detergent is not strong enough to remove many of the detailing products from towels, especially the sealants.
While some might use other detergents to save a little money, if you buy the MFR&B in the gallon, with a sale discount, the amount of product used for one load is less than a buck, not much compared to the cost of these premium towels.
While I do not use any vinegar, some people use it for the rinse cycle. To do this, it would be placed in the fabric softener dispenser. Putting vinegar directly into the wash load with the detergent would be counter-productive, as the vinegar would work against the detergent.
It is also a good idea to run a cleaning cycle on your machine before running your detailing towels, to remove any laundry soap build-up in the machine. Before washing my Microfiber towels, I run a clean-cycle on the washer with some distilled white vinegar to break down the build-up of detergents and fabric softeners inside the machine, as this build-up is bad for the detailing towels and can also be full of contaminates (like glitter). Since MFR&B is a stronger detergent than regular laundry soap, it will break down the build-up in the washer and mix it into your load of Microfiber towels, unless you clean the washer first. The dryer can also have contaminants from other loads, such as rags, rugs or shoes. A thorough vacuuming of the dryer along with a wipe-down is good practice to prevent the clean Microfiber towels from being contaminated with stuff that can cause damage when used on your paint. If this seems extreme, take a closer look at what gets collected in the lint screen of the dryer.

Funny you said that spoke to Dan and the newer style is coming out with shorter bristles instead of 3" they cut them shorter by haif so the bristles are stiffer

But yes, I do believe new t-shirts should be up on the site tomorrow too

Darker yellow 'golden rod' color compared to the lighter yellow we've had for many, many years, strawberry banana scent, and a 'NEW' sticker will be affixed to the first several batches, just like we did with Glass Cleaner a few years back.
Goals for the update were for even easier removal if the product sits on the surface for a bit, more depth and shine, and added durability per application compared to the current version. I wasn't really involved much with the testing and development of this particular product, so I'll have to get any further information from Adam
