Waterless wash after rain
Mariner replied to zelmo's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
The only issue I see with applying waterless when the car is wet is that your towel will be soaked really quickly. You could use one of the larger drying towels to remedy this however. There is also that maybe applying waterless to a wet car will dilute the waterless, but I don't see it being an issue. -
Revive would be a good place to start. I use it to clean water spots off my windows all the time. Just make sure to reapply paint sealant afterwards.

Clay Bar VS Clay Mitt
Mariner replied to Nickfire20's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Some people used some sort of goo gone or something to remove them. I just kept at it with a clay bar, detail spray, and a single soft til it came off. Wasn't easy though. At first I thought the same. And since I wrote my first review I've used it on my wife's "new to her" used fiesta that needed a LOT of tlc lol.. and the clay mitt didn't even touch the contaminants. When I tried to scrub, it scuffed. After that I switched back to the clay bar. Turns out that sometimes you just have to put in the time to get the job done right. -
Clay Bar VS Clay Mitt
Mariner replied to Nickfire20's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I have found the clay bar to perform far better than the mitt. I like the mitt when a quick, lighter claying is needed, but if you try to scrub with the mitt it WILL cause linoleum style scuffs that SUCK to get off. If you have a car with moderate to heavy contamination, stick with the clay bar to do it right. I never saw crud in the mitt either, but i'm assuming they're so small that you won't. After use I just rinse it out til next time. -
Do we have a spray wax?

Lol I don't even know what the discussion is about anymore. OP question was if Adams had a spray wax. The answer is no lol. -

Unfortunately there's only so much discussion we can have amongst ourselves without input from the pros. -
Polymer vs. Silica products
Mariner replied to 8675309'SS's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Paint Sealant is a polymer acrylic sealant which is Adams longest lasting protection. HGG is a water activated sealant, but I'm unsure of it's base. Wash and Wax and Ceramic Boost are both silica based products which also offer decent protection, but are not as strong as the polymer sealants. -

How is it a sealant? -
I hope anybody here on AF that lives in this region or has family/friends there has either evacuated or live on high ground. I've attached some pics showing ship activity off the coast right now. I have been to Corpus Christi many times and I have never seen the bay and anchorage cleared out like this. You can even see the ships under power and lined up heading out of Galveston. All my buddies down there on drill ships even abandoned their wells to head east. If anybody here is affected please recognize the severity of these storms. I had good friends and fellow graduates go down aboard the container ship El Faro over a year ago now in a hurricane off the coast of Puerto Rico. So to anyone in the affected area, good luck, stay safe, and God bless.

It has a small amount of carnauba but not enough to where I would call it a spray wax by any means. -
Detailing Guide PDF File
Mariner replied to Cwilliams's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Although with the consistent release of more stickers and hats, their chemical release has definitely begun to level off. I think it is time for a detailing guide update. -
Giving up on the merino mitt
Mariner replied to hemi1300's question in Towels, Brushes, & Accessories
I've only used it twice so it's still okay. -
Giving up on the merino mitt
Mariner replied to hemi1300's question in Towels, Brushes, & Accessories
I always found the merino mitt to be too dang heavy when wet, and it didn't hold suds well. I have the older version. I much prefer the red/white microfiber mitt to anything else. -
H20 Gloss/ Shine
Mariner replied to Bluesplayer's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Like above it would depend on the dew amount. However I wouldn't try this unless you're positive your vehicle is clear of all dust and grit or you could damage your paint unintentionally. -
Baked On Bird Poop
Mariner replied to strine56's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
My SUV sits for 3 weeks at a time and after a stiff presoak of 1:6 Rinseless, the poop will usually wipe off with a soapy washpad. -
That's an awesome video! Where I was it was only about 80-90% but it still got oddly dim out. It was quite eery.

I plan on replacing my house system with a Trane when my original unit kicks the bucket. They're said to be the best!!

Brilliant Glaze usage
Mariner replied to marauder's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
There's two types of microfiber pads on the site. There's the microfiber polishing pads which are for use with the HCP to make fast work of correction, but there's also the handheld, rectangular microfiber applicators that you can use to apply Paint Sealant, Glass Sealant, etc. If applying brilliant glaze, I would either use the red polishing pad, or the red hex grip applicator. -
If you were close enough to smell the gasoline and cigarette together, I would be far more worried about that combination... you're too close!

I took Dan up on the Kidde savings and ended up swapping mine out with these same ones. All my detectors were original with the house (2006) so I was definitely due. I only had 5 detectors to swap though, 3 smoke and 2 combo smoke/carbon monoxide. Changed all mine with live wires because I'm a dare devil. Or maybe I'm just dumb.

Thinking of selling my Rupes MKll
Mariner replied to Ls1transam's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
But how would they know it's for a service and not just a check to a person for other reasons? Does the money order institute a contract of some kind?
