I have laid a couple towels on the hood when I do that area before. Can also just use a piece of cardboard or something as a spray guard and just hold it against the edge of the hood.

    Billy,

You asked about the wash mitt. You will get a ton of opinions about what's better. I don't think you can go wrong with either option. Both are super soft and hold a lot of suds. The beautiful thing about the wash mitt is that it will release dirt and grime much easier than the wash pad. And it can be machine washed. I typically use multiple wash mitts per vehicle so I would recommend to pick one up to do mid section down on your washes. That should save your wash pad from getting built up with grime.

Pressure washed the car at the pay n spray then a Rinseless wash followed by Patriot wax.

First time using the Patriot and I must say even in 30* ambient temperature it still hazed up in a decent time frame. Not sure I like the light blue applicator though. Seemed a bit too soft.

Welcome Mike.  I too have a child just turning 16.  We gave her my older Camry as her first car and while detailing has not been something she has shown interest in, she loves Adam's products because of the smell and how well they work.

What I've been impressed with the most is her desire to keep her car clean (inside and out) and looking its best considering it's an older vehicle.  So, while detailing may not be in her future... I'm ecstatic at the time she has been putting into taking care of her 'new' car.

Now, If I can just figure out a way for this to transfer over to her keeping her room clean, I will be all set.  LOL

Oh, I just assumed detail spray and a MF assortment kept in the car at all times would be standard and didn't warrant a comment, HAHAHAHHAHAH!!

Why on earth do you think I started that empty 8oz bottle thread...which, BTW Dan...I haven't seen an update on

Finally got started yesterday. Not enough day light to complete the whole truck on ly the hood and front quarter panels

    Strip wash
clay bar with Chocolate mint Detail spray ( smelled great, but I like the original better)
wheels and wheel wells / Vrt & in-out spray
    Correcting polish - Microfiber pad
Correcting polish - orange foam pad
Finishing polish - White foam pad
Alcohol wipe down - the shine after this was crazy, really impressed me!
    Revive hand polish
    LPS
    Brillant glaze

Thanks everyone for all the advise. I haven't figured out the best way to photograph the paint before and after yet but I still have over half the truck left to do - updates to follow.

Yesterday I wet sanded my headlights. I had no clue what I was doing but I followed the steps from another post here on the forum.
1500 grit, 2000 grit, 3000 grit, Swirl killer with orange foam pad and correcting polish, then white foam pad with finishing polish.  They are far from perfect but still 100% better

Here are some pics of some black cars/trucks that I've detailed with varoius issues. No wetsanding done at all in any picture. Flex 3401 with Adams two step (sometimes three step) paint correction, clay bar, Brilliant Glaze, and Buttery, Americana, and Patriot wax used on various vehicles. Hope these help.

I just completed this 2013 Ford Fusion. It is used as a sales/work car at a local business. For the paint I used Adams Strip Wash, clayed the paint and did a one-step paint correction using Adams Paint Correcting Polish. To finish I used Adams Liquid Paint Sealant and the Adams Americana. I also sealed the Glass with Adams Glass Sealant. I also tried out the new Glass Boost. I really like how easy it went on and came off.

    Started with Adams Strip Wash.

    The hood before.

    The hood after.

    Scratch on trunk.

    Trunk after polishing.

Engine bay after cleaning and Adams In and Out Spray.

The sun was in and out today. I am glad I got done before we get the 18 inches of snow that is forecasted for Tuesday! The car was put away and will not be used until next week.

Thank you everyone for the advice and compliments! I'm very grateful and humbled for the advice and tips! I look forward to documenting my experience with this amazing product. A real "game changer" for sure!
I will specifically document my experience living in a "city condo building". I have a temperature controlled underground parking space for 2 vehicles. I have no reasonable access to water source in our parking garage. Thus, I rely solely on a two (2) bucket rinseless wash. (Coin opp self service is a few blocks away). I'm trying to perfect the easiest, most effective, time efficient, economical wash while wanting to maintain max gloss for an ocd gear head like me. Stay tuned please...

Suuurrrrrre you did. I use the same excuse when I want, er, need, to buy more stuff. It's yet another symptom of the addiction. Just don't be surprised when your cart has more than just the VRT. Must. Buy. More. Adams! You've been warned.
