tlbullet reacted to Dan@Adams in #88 Camaro Alex Bowman Car Care Kit Available Now!
I'm sure some of you may have watched the NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on TV yesterday, and saw the big Adam's Polishes "A-logo" displayed on Alex Bowman's #88 Chevy Camaro from Hendrick Motorsports! It amazes me how much this company has grown to see something like this, and I am very proud to be part of it! Unfortunately he had a DNF due to being involved in a multi-car pile up, but all drivers involved are ok! We can't wait to see Alex back out on the track again.

We also launched a new collaboration kit yesterday, available exclusively on ChevyGoods.com

You can find the kit at the following link: Number 88 Camaro Car Care Kit by Adam's Polishes

This kit must be picked up at your local participating Chevrolet dealership, as they do not offer shipping at this time. Discount codes also appear to be deactivated for this kit, but it's a very nice price at $58.00, as it is over $80 in retail value!

Thanks for looking and keep on shining!

I have been around for many years and detailing my cars (non-professional) with just about every retail product that has hit the shelves. There are many excellent retail products on the market, but over the last year I have started transitioning my detailing "tool box" over to ALMOST strictly Adam's products. I also recently decided to give Ceramics a try. I wasn't convinced enough to spend the $2000+ for a professional ceramic application, but became very intrigued with what I kept reading about the ceramic spray coating from Adam's. The process was easier than I expected, and the results were outstanding. I look forward to learning more from the fine folks on this forum. I hope I will be able to contribute as well!

First let me say a BIG thank you to everyone on this board for your help but a Special BIG thank you to Dan@Adams. He was able to help me behind the scene and gave me the extra confidence I needed to attempt this.

So I did it. After washing, claying, paint correcting, touch up paint,, then the ceramic process I am done. I will say this, When I first finished I was a little disappointed. When I was paint correcting I used too much compound and it exposed a lot of rock chips that were not as visible as before because of the white compound getting in there. No big deal a oft of those came out when I used the spray prep. The ceramic was not as hard to apply as I thought. It smells horrible though. I did it in my garage and it was very humid. Took about 3.5 minutes to be able to wipe it off. Once I was don, or so I thought, I pulled it outside. This was the best thing I did. I saw immediately all the spots I missed when removing. Some were easy to get off others were not. Took a long time to get it right. Not sure if I did it right but I would try and buff them off and if that didn't work I reapplied ceramic and wiped down after about 40 seconds to a minute. My initial thought was I wasn't going to like the end result. I was sure I messed it up in a lot of areas. I pulled it out this morning to apply the boost and was really happy with the result. all the areas that  thought were going to be bad seemed to have disappeared. There are a few small areas that I will follow up with BG to address. The beading is amazing! I haven't touched it with water yet but while spraying the boost on it dripped right off the car. I had to spray the towel  and then wipe for the boost to stay.

I would say the ceramic only part took me a little over 5 hours. The car looks amazing don't get me wrong, just not sure I would do this again. I will have to wait to see how long this last.

Some helpful tips and tricks that I learned:
I started with the roof and worked my way down. Found this helpful so I knew were I was going. I also used a stopwatch. I timed how long the roof took to cure to wipe then timed each other section accordingly. I figured if I messed up the roof who cares

The stop watch helped me a lot because after a minute I wanted to remove it because it felt like 3 minutes

Don't put ceramic on the pad while standing over the car.

A detail cart would have helped big time.

Get your bucket to sit on.

I used three applicator pads. Well really only 2 but I dropped one so I threw it away. I turned the applicator every section.

Best thing I did was move it into the sun after I was done to see where I missed.

    Let me know your thoughts

Last two pics are after the ceramic was applied and was in the garage. First 5 are from after the 2 hours plus boost.

    Welcome!

You will be extremely happy with Adams products.  You will be satisfied with the process, the scents of each chemical, and the shiny outcome.

Adams Red Foam cannon will work great for you
    Mega Foam for sure
If it’s just like dust, interior detailer,  but they make heavier cleaners if needed.
Ceramics are used as protection,  so after you wash and clay you would use them.
The spray coating is great and easy,  maintaining it with CS3 works wonders.
And for kits, you can go to the website, and type kits in the search bar,  and you can maybe choose something of your liking or check back with us.

i agree with Nickfire20, I might add that all of our Car Shampoo’s are going to do you a good job. Using a foam gun is the way to go but to remove the mud you are still going to have to do a Two bucket wash.

tlbullet reacted to Dan@Adams in Current Project: Compounding a Very Neglected C5 Corvette!
Hey everyone! I've been working on a Corvette this past week in the evenings. It's for a friend's uncle. I think it is safe to say that in 20 years of detailing, this is the most difficult vehicle I have ever worked on. It's GM gloss black on a C5 Corvette - most will agree that this combo requires a lot of work to get right, as the clear coat is very hard and can be tough to get it to finish down just right.

It looks like this particular vehicle spent most of its life under a car cover, that was pulled on and off the vehicle, creating a lot of deep scratches in the process. Below are a few Before/After shots and explanations so far. Compounding is now complete, so I will move onto Polish and then our UV Ceramic Paint Coating Kit this weekend.

These first 2 pictures were how the car showed up to me, almost as if soap and water had been left to bake into the surface at some point. These pictures are AFTER washing and drying with Waterless Wash and clean waterless wash towels - it was far too cold and rainy outside to do a bucket wash, and there actually wasn't much dirt...this was all "baked in" to a degree. In other words, all of this spotting was so dried/etched into the surface that Waterless Wash did not remove it:

This was after claying the passenger-side hood, roof, front fender, door, and rear quarter with our Fine Grade Clay:

Claying did remove the majority of the streaking, spotting, and staining on the surface. In this photo, the passenger side was after clay, driver side untouched yet:

Here are some before/afters of Compounding different areas of the Corvette. I initially started with the Blue Microfiber Cutting Pad and blue Compound, but that combination was not strong enough to accomplish what I wanted in a time-efficient manner, so I moved up to the One Step Pad with blue Compound. For those that have not used it, the One Step Pad is a hybrid design microfiber and wool pad that has strong cutting capability:

The rear panel had spots of clear coat over spray in several areas, as did the lower portion of the passenger front fender. It appears these two areas and a few more appear to have been repainted at some point and not fully sanded and buffed out.

Deep vertical scratches in the passenger door from another door hitting into it. There was paint transfer too, but the clay bar took care of that:

It looks nice in this picture, but there is still significant haze in the paint when looked at under the Color Match LED Light. The White Foam Pad and Polish will take care of that though:

Stay tuned for more. I will try to update this thread throughout the weekend

My mother has been making masks for family and friends, and I just could not handle the scratchy cotton against my precious face.  Solution?  A mask custom crafted with love from an Adam's MicroSilk Glass Towel.

This mask has a nose piece wire for tight fit, and two layers of polypropylene between the inside and outside fabric to catch all those nasty viruses flying around.

And sorry, my mother is not interested in mass-producing these, but if you know someone who can sew, it only takes one towel per mask.

@Mantis im am a weekend warrior and have been following the Adams
product line closely the past 3 years. It can be overwhelming but ill give you my opinion.  I have only daily drivers, no garage queens ...yet🤞🏼👏🏽
I have tried several of the waxes then gave it a shot at the full Ceramic coating. I was able to get a full size suv and sedan completed  with one bottle.
I was extremely happy with the results and longeivity.
Out of boredom I tried the CsC earlier this spring.  The ease of application was impressive.  Results have been very good thus far.
If you gonna compare pricing, keep
in mind that the sealant is about the same
price as the CSC.  (I have not dxperience with sealant) and i beleive the CSC is rated to last much longer.
Also, considering the full CC was about $100 per bottle, remeber that you are not waxing it or applying any sealant over that vehicle for at least 2 years...soalthough larger up front cost it may be cheaper in the long run.  Also, the hydrophobic properies with the ceramics are awesome.  It makes Weekly cleaning a breeze.
I also use the older version of the ceramic wax...i think the csc is better.  I use it just because i have it..its not necessary on a cermic coated vehicle.
Thats just my thought..im sure someone else will chime in shortly!! Good
    luck.

I say it all the time...true shine comes from proper paint correction, the rest is enhancement and protection.

How driven are you go delve in? When you get into paint correction and ceramics, you're about as far in as you can get for overall steps and type of protection available from Adam's. If you're willing to go there, awesome, we can help you.

Given your original post, however, I'll offer a few alternatives to let you "ease" into detailing. They will allow you to clean the car with some quality steps/tools, and apply some protection to the paint beyond what you may be used to, but not too far. Take your pick depending on budget, and tour overall desire, then you can go from there.

Hello, new customer and member but I'm thoroughly hooked on Adam's products.  I picked up a new-to-me ZL1 last fall and the owner was an Adam's customer.  He'd done paint correction, ceramic coating, etc. and the car was/is absolutely immaculate in every way.  It sat all winter and have finally had a chance to get it dirty this spring.

I've always been a Meguiar's & 3M customer and was happy with their stuff until I used it on my Camaro.  I learned a hard lesson about towels and cheap chemicals by introducing swirls and dulling the shine.  The previous owner came over and showed me why Adam's is better.  I'll never use anything else.

    Keep up the great work!

tlbullet reacted to Dan@Adams in cleaner amount in CS3
CS3 and Ceramic Waterless are indeed similar products, but they do have their differences. To clear up some confusion, both can be used on coated and non-coated vehicles alike.

Ceramic Waterless was initially made to serve as a ceramic-infused waterless washing and maintenance product, fitting in with the rest of the white bottle ceramic line to keep things together and easy to understand, more advanced than our normal product line if you will. CS3 was released a few months back as a very easy to use product for the consumer/hobbyist that might just be getting their feet wet with ceramic products. This is why we put it in the normal product line label, along with Ceramic Spray Coating - I think that anyone that has used either product will agree that they are much easier to use than applying a full 2-3+ year ceramic coating 🙂

You can think of Ceramic Waterless as being a Waterless Wash with ceramic-infused protection in it, almost like Waterless Wash + Ceramic Boost = Ceramic Waterless. To answer Cedric's initial question (sorry I missed this thread when he posted it last week), CS3 has just as good cleaning and protection, but it also has shine enhancement too. So you can think of it as Waterless Wash + Ceramic Boost + Detail Spray/Brilliant Glaze = CS3. These are not the actual combination of chemicals or makeup of the products, but this is the easiest way to explain them using comparisons. You are not losing any cleaning ability as a trade-off for increased shine - my SS had more than light dirt a few weeks ago from a rainstorm and I cleaned it with CS3 just to see if it could handle it. In my mind I wanted to at least do a Two Bucket Wash, but it was too cold outside. I used I believe 5 Blue Waterless Wash Waffle Weave Towels and they got filthy, but the car turned out great. I took the Color Match LED Light to it afterward and noticed no increase in swirl marks anywhere (there are a few swirls in some key areas of my car right now since I purposely haven't done much to it other than wash, boost, and CS3 all winter to see how the UV Ceramic Spray Coating would hold up). Three or four of the towels were used for lifting dirt, and the fifth towel was used to dry and make sure there was no streaking. I folded them in half 3 times, giving 12 working 'sides' per towel.

As a side comment in regards to percentages, some may get caught up in the numbers (I'll admit that I do sometimes too), or think that the higher the percentage of a chemical such as SiO2, the better the product (Ex: "This product has X% but this one has Y% - it has to be better!"). Yes, it might mean a little more durability, hydrophobic behavior, etc; however, just increasing the percentage higher and higher can also make a product more difficult to work with - streaking, smearing, and so on. There is a lot of chemistry and testing involved, and for a product like a waterless wash that we want to work safely and easily, making it a very high percentage may not always be the best option 👍
