Thank you for the kind words Doug! I've met Bob and Anthony that work at the Anaheim location, both are awesome guys - I know they have a few more team members at that location now though, so it may have been someone else. I'm hoping to make it out there soon once we're given the ok to start traveling again!

I had a great experience today!

I drove up from San Diego - it took an hour to get there, but it was worth it; I was kinda going stir crazy from being home, and wanted to get away for a bit.

I came in, started looking around, and was asked if I needed some help; the first thing I asked was, "Do you by chance have any mystery buckets?"

They had apparently sold the last one earlier, but because I had asked, they offered to make one up for me, which I was ABSOLUTELY grateful for. I know they didn't have to do that, and had they not, I would've probably done some sort of kit anyway...I got pretty much everything to do a wash for my wife's car - tire shine, spray wax, ultra wash shampoo, interior detailer, VRT, and a few other things! I ended up getting the bucket and a clay mitt, and unfortunately on the way back realized I'd forgotten to pick up some glass cleaner, interior goo, and iron remover, so I'll probably make a trip up there again in the near future; however, I've got plenty to work with right now.

The guys working the counter today (I unfortunately didn't get their names) deserve kudos for their help.

wildcatz80 reacted to Dan@Adams in cleaner amount in CS3
CS3 and Ceramic Waterless are indeed similar products, but they do have their differences. To clear up some confusion, both can be used on coated and non-coated vehicles alike.

Ceramic Waterless was initially made to serve as a ceramic-infused waterless washing and maintenance product, fitting in with the rest of the white bottle ceramic line to keep things together and easy to understand, more advanced than our normal product line if you will. CS3 was released a few months back as a very easy to use product for the consumer/hobbyist that might just be getting their feet wet with ceramic products. This is why we put it in the normal product line label, along with Ceramic Spray Coating - I think that anyone that has used either product will agree that they are much easier to use than applying a full 2-3+ year ceramic coating 🙂

You can think of Ceramic Waterless as being a Waterless Wash with ceramic-infused protection in it, almost like Waterless Wash + Ceramic Boost = Ceramic Waterless. To answer Cedric's initial question (sorry I missed this thread when he posted it last week), CS3 has just as good cleaning and protection, but it also has shine enhancement too. So you can think of it as Waterless Wash + Ceramic Boost + Detail Spray/Brilliant Glaze = CS3. These are not the actual combination of chemicals or makeup of the products, but this is the easiest way to explain them using comparisons. You are not losing any cleaning ability as a trade-off for increased shine - my SS had more than light dirt a few weeks ago from a rainstorm and I cleaned it with CS3 just to see if it could handle it. In my mind I wanted to at least do a Two Bucket Wash, but it was too cold outside. I used I believe 5 Blue Waterless Wash Waffle Weave Towels and they got filthy, but the car turned out great. I took the Color Match LED Light to it afterward and noticed no increase in swirl marks anywhere (there are a few swirls in some key areas of my car right now since I purposely haven't done much to it other than wash, boost, and CS3 all winter to see how the UV Ceramic Spray Coating would hold up). Three or four of the towels were used for lifting dirt, and the fifth towel was used to dry and make sure there was no streaking. I folded them in half 3 times, giving 12 working 'sides' per towel.

As a side comment in regards to percentages, some may get caught up in the numbers (I'll admit that I do sometimes too), or think that the higher the percentage of a chemical such as SiO2, the better the product (Ex: "This product has X% but this one has Y% - it has to be better!"). Yes, it might mean a little more durability, hydrophobic behavior, etc; however, just increasing the percentage higher and higher can also make a product more difficult to work with - streaking, smearing, and so on. There is a lot of chemistry and testing involved, and for a product like a waterless wash that we want to work safely and easily, making it a very high percentage may not always be the best option 👍

So it’s been a while since I’ve written, but here I am. A potential customer called (and I’ll call him a customer, because he’s certainly not a client) and told me about his older Cadillac. Apparently it had some paint transfer on it from some kind incident and the inside needed to be cleaned as it was apparently pretty dirty.

All of this isn’t a big deal for us and something we could handle. As soon as I gave him the price, he couldn’t get off the phone with me quick enough.

This interaction got me thinking about different types of clients and how to handle them.

At one end of the spectrum you have what I call value shoppers. They’re looking for the cheapest price and the most amount of work. These customers tend to be difficult to satisfy and maintain clear expectations with. They are also the quickest to run around speaking negatively should anything happen to not meet “their” expectations.

At the other end, you have clients who don’t care about price but care about the service and product. These clients usually come by way of referral and are quick to speak highly of your services and if there’s any issues, they’re handled quickly and without making a big deal. These are critical relationships to maintain.

For us, there’s a difference between a customer and a client. A customer is a single time contact. A client has ongoing relationships with you. They come back. They tell people about you.

The value customer brings up an interesting point too. When a client brings up cost or walks away over cost, do you offer a discount?  We don’t. We let them go. There are other companies that are price oriented, and they’re a better fit for that client.

What we don’t want to do is to train our clients to dictate the cost of our service. We control that based on what we need to make to stay in business and be profitable. Once we start letting the client dictate price, we lose control of our business and profit margin.

How do you deal with different types of clients?

I followed what Joe did on video. After I was done with towels, I had a bucket of warm water with APC to let my glass towels soak for a while then I washed them they look good. I didn't buy the kit since I already have what the kit contains with the exemptions of Part A and B. We had rain in California this week didn't use my wipers at all. Love it!!

No, you should get individual wipes for each car, both an A and B, and know an A and B will do only the windshield for each car, so you'll need quite a few wipes for the rest of the windows. Don't shortcut it. Good news is you won't need the surface prep, only what's in the kit: GC, fine grade clay, the wipes and the towels.

Work quickly, going immediately from A to B...DO NOT wait! Once B is applied, you're good to use the GC to then wipe away residue and take a breath after as the two (A and B ) together is what makes it work. And don't do more than one window at a time would be my recommendation. Part A can cure very quickly, so again, interchange to Part B quickly.

wildcatz80 reacted to Amiguel6 in Questions about new wheel/tire cleaner, and eco all purpose cleaner
Below is a pretty cool chart that was put out. I noticed that Adam's is now bottling Wheel & Tire Cleaner in better chemical resistant bottles, different than the normal ones. My Wheel and Tire Cleaner is in the standard bottles and I had a small leak at the bottom of the bottle, due to the strength of the chemical. It's breaking down the plastic. However W&TC is non-acid, so it's safe to use.
