You can make a light stand from a photography assembly. I posted on it a while back and what’s needed.

The astro pneumatic light on amazon is really good for the money for a handheld.

Or you can go wild like we did in our new film/coating space and install 86,400 lumens worth of LED shop lights.

What are your goals?  Space?  And budget?

ColoradoSHObro reacted to shane@detailedreflections in When did Adam's have 16 oz bottles of compound and polish?
You are correct. It’s absolutely not linear. However the costs were already built in to be profitable at 16 ounce bottle pricing. Going to an 8 ounce bottle price at 2/3 the cost is still effectively an increase per ounce for them and their balance sheet. They were still paying for bottles and the pour of product regardless. So raising price per ounce is still raising profit no matter how you look at it.

It makes sense to offer that smaller quantity since some people need it. Unfortunately they alienated a fair number of customers in their choice to only offer the one option.

Over time it’s become increasingly clear that they don’t intend to cater to volume users and have instead focus on special editions of the same products or to individual users. The funny thing is that your volume users are more likely to reorder frequently. They also lose out when someone asks “what should I use to maintain my car?” My answer isn’t always Adam’s since they’re not always the products I’m using and that decision is sometimes purely dictated by a pricing decision.

On a business side, if I’m considering a price increase because I need more profit margin to cover expenses I have two options...well, three.

One is to buy smarter effectively giving me the margins I need. Two is to raise my prices. Three is a combination of both. When I’m evaluating a price increase, if I can get what I need without hammering my clients it’s the clear winner every time. As such, we haven’t increased our prices in a while. The first real increase may come next year to help gaslight our growth and to recover some of my investment that I’ve made. But that decision will also be coupled with a hard look at product selection, quantity and pricing to work both ends and minimize the client impact.

ColoradoSHObro reacted to shane@detailedreflections in Future write ups & clinic
I’ve written things up a few times previously on the forums...and they’ve been generally well received so it’s something I don’t mind keeping up with as I’m able to.

That being said, if there’s anything specific you want to see covered or asked...please do so. It’ll help inspire some of that writing. Maybe it’ll be a quick answer. Maybe it’ll be a write up with photos from an upcoming job. Who knows what it’ll turn into?

Topics can be detailing to busInes’s related. Maybe it’ll help foster good discussions. Our way of doing things isn’t the only way...

Anyway, I wanted to extend the offer. Maybe one day I can do a thread for a Q&A on all things interior with Marquis when he’s here working!  He won’t do the forum thing himself, but i can ask and get answers and type for him!  Just a thought.

And as far as a clinic, we are still working on it!  Trying to workout some scheduling and funds to run the event the way it should be done since I sank a bunch into the new workspace!

No that is there full selection in the pic. ironic that the only retail place it seems to be available is also about 40mins away from adams HQ where you could probably walk in and get it from the source if you asked nicely ?‍♂️

Went to the open house on Aug 4th. What a fantastic experience! I'm new to detailing and don't know much but was treated like an old friend by everyone we came in contact with. Adam gave a tour of the new facility personally. Very impressive. Provided lunch and demos. Great day!

Been back since the open house and staff is awesome. Thanks Colton.

Going again tomorrow... This is getting expensive. Ha! Love my new hobby.

Alright so i've always had great experiences when visiting the headquarters and a thank you post is overdue. I visit there more frequently than i should and everyone i deal with is eager to help and answer questions. They always give great deals when you checkout and most times i've been given a product or two for free.
Special thanks to Emery who helped me out a while ago and donated a bottle of Brilliant Glaze to help me out with some chemical streaks. He saw me looking at the car outside and came out to look at the issue with me. I got great service before i even stepped foot inside! Of course i had a thousand other questions which he graciously took the time to answer and gave me a great deal on some ceramic paste wax. Thank you Emery!
Just yesterday i stopped by to grab a couple mystery boxes. Someone came right out and told me where there was a small stack of mystery boxes were and told me to feel free to sort through them and pick the ones i wanted! what!? i get to hand pick my mystery boxes? . . . yep, good day. I chatted with the rep(sorry didn't get his name) for a bit, asked a few questions and and as we were talking Phillip walked by and said "hold tight, i've got something for ya!". He came out from the back with a black trim restorer kit and handed it to me. Seriously, is it my birthday or something!? NO . . . i was just at the Adams headquarters.
Seriously every time i've been there it's been a unique and memorable experience. Every adams employee truly cares about your experience and won't stop until you walk away in awe of their customer service skills. If anyone has the chance to visit Adam's Polishes Headquarters i HIGHLY suggest you do so.
This is one company that is still doing things right on pretty much every level.  So rare and Refreshing to see these days.
Thank you to everyone at the headquarters for . . . well just always being awesome!
