I've spend the last 2 weekends working on desk. I got the frame built last weekend. I sanded on the frame throughout the week. This weekend, I painted the frame and put the top together. Now to sand, stain, and poly the top. I needed to have something semi comfortable to sit on while painting.

Sticky buns for my Thursday treat day....Normally I get up early at 5 am Thursday & bake...why you ask? For some reason I started waking up early on Thursday about 18 months or so ago...and it now is habit or ritual...lol.  However, do not have the time tomorrow as have an early day so decided to make them tonight.

I have two disgusting cars. I can't wait for a few days for 40-50 degree weather so I can clean them up.

Thank you, Chris. I don't have it as bad as some but it's -12 in Indianapolis. I had trouble pulling the door open at the office this morning because of the wind.

There's no need to was the car twice. You can just pick one. You'll want to use iron remover before claying. When polishing, always start with least aggressive and see if that gets you where you want. If not, go to the next least aggressive. You'll get plenty more responses but this will get you started. This has been discussed a lot on here so if you do a some searching, you can find many different processes along with reasoning behind everything.

I’ll expand on this a little bit. You can install coatings “mobile.” Ideally though you have a garage or a covered area to work. Heat and humidity play such a large variable in terms of flash and curing times that experience will tell you how to alter your timing for each scenario.

The ideal scenario for coatings is a controlled environment. Curing times vary, but we won’t let a coating out the same day it was applied. It’s an overnight visit. I don’t want a vehicle sent out and exposed where a client can come back and have us redo it at our expense to satisfy them. If a client wanted to pick up a vehicle early, I’d have a signed copy of the release basically saying they acknowledge they’re picking it up early and any issues are on them at that point. Oh, and a ton of photos.

Installing coatings isn’t for every detailer. Maybe they don’t fit into your lineup of products?  Maybe they do?  Keep in mind to truly offer a full coating install you need the ability to remove wheels so barrels can be coated too. Not everyone has barrels done, but we do far more wheels off coatings than wheels on. Our prices also reflect that level of work.

Your issue with coatings and the Adam’s video are misguided. Coatings have nuances. One is the proper environment for the best result in application. This isn’t an Adam’s issue, it’s a reflection of your business model. Not to say it’s broken, but it may not fit.

As for policies after a coating, it’s up to you. We advise no wash for seven days. It can get wet when we let it go. And we’ve kept it for the initial cure.

The big takeaway is that not every product fits every user. Know what to try and what not to.

Bscott94 reacted to Dan@Adams in Which Side of the Towel??
For the Green Glass Towel, I like to use the thicker side for heavier scrubbing of bug guts and so on, then the thin side for finishing with a streak-free surface.

For our Ultra Plush Drying Towel, both the thick side and thin side seem to absorb water with the same effectiveness for me. I will start by drying the windshield or rear window to get some water in the towel, then I will move onto the painted surfaces with a top-down approach to drying. For sharp areas like emblems, body moldings, etc, I will use the thin side of the towel to avoid it getting caught and fraying with the thicker loop side.

All of our other towels that we offer are the same thickness on each side. I hope that helps out

By spraying into a towel, you prevent overspray. It also helps the product last longer as it won't get blown away as you're spraying it onto the paint. I would think it would work either way but you have more control over it if you spray it directly into a towel and only apply it where you want it.

I just received my latest order and in it was the new Spray Wax.  I have been hoping for Adam to produce a product like this for some time now.  I mast say I am not disappointed (and I really didn't expect to be) .  It met my expectations and then some.  Here are a few result photo's.  Two were in the garage and the other as you can tell outside in the direct sun.

I know the lights show more that what would normally be seen. I have just noticed it with a few vehicles that I have worked with. I have heard the term "orange peel" but I didn't really know what it meant. That describes what I was talking about perfectly!

I meant perfect as in smooth. I know it gets contamination and scratches and such from travel and the dealership. Thanks for the info and explanations. Again, great work! I love seeing all the cool cars that you get to work with.

When switching out your foam cannon to the spray nozzle on your pressure washer, make sure the spray nozzle is secure in the gun.  A 3200 psi sprayer sends a loose spray nozzle flying at about 8000 MPH.  Luckily it didnt hit my window or damage my truck.......errrrr my friends window/truck.  I would never make such a stupid mistake.

If you get a chance, stop by St Augustine, it is a beautiful old city and they do it right for Christmas.   Disney for the holidays is also something very special whether you go to Disney itself or Epcot, you'll have a good time.   Epcot is geared a bit more for adults, in my opinion.  If you are golfers, make sure you take your clubs, there are many outstanding courses all over Florida and the Ft Myers areas has some exceptional courses.

If you are driving, be careful when you get around mile mark 305 on I-75.  They are widening I-75 and the bridge is a bit of a mess where it goes of 50 - which is the exit I get off from.

    Enjoy your Christmas trip.

Welcome Trenton! I'm not a huge Ford fan but that's a good looking line up. I live in Indianapolis. I have found one dealer in Indy but he doesn't have a showroom. You can order on his site and then select local pick up. I think that has to be approved first though. I have spoken to him a couple times on Facebook but have not purchased anything from him yet. Google "Furious Shine".
