  1. I had the honor of working on a buddies 1977 Pontiac Trans Am SE yesterday, Yup, a real Bandit TA! I brought Kyle along with me. Several of you may recognize Kyle, he's been working for me at some of the Carlisle Events recently, and really knows how to run a polisher. Mike had bought the car off eBay almost two years ago and after closely looking it over, decided it needed a bit of work. A full Rotisserie Restoration ensued. After 15 months it was out of paint, Cut and Buffed and back into Mike's garage. Mike wanted to get the paint much closer to perfect before the yards of graphics are applied, and that's where Kyle and I stepped in. Mike owns a Porter cable, and has all the Adam's products to do the job, but was aware of the time it would take him to do the complete correction with the tools he had by himself. He cleaned and clayed the car prior to our arrival. I loaded the Magnum up with about everything we'd need on Friday evening and picked up Kyle early Sayurday morning. We got to Mike's at 9:00am, unloaded the Magnum and looked over the TA. The car looked really nice to start with and we were excited to get started. First order of business was to start taping off places we didn't want to touch with a machine. I placed Adam's Swirl Killer into Mike's hands and we worked a test area to figure what we were going to have to do to correct the paint to his satisfaction. It took Heavy Correcting Compound on a Blue Foam Pad, followed by Paint Correcting Polish on an Orange Foam Pad, and finished off with Paint Finishing Polish on a White Foam Pad. In several areas we started with the Blue Microfiber Pad in Place of the Blue Foam. The rear deck lid, spoiler and surrounding areas were in need of extra attention, so while Mike and I sorted out a plan, Kyle jumped right in. Here he is with the Rupes Mini. Kyle switched back and forth between the Rupes Mini and Adam's Swirl Killer Mini. Kyle noted a slight weight increase in the Swirl Killer Mini but found Adam's machine to not have quite as much vibration as the Rupes. He liked both equally. Here he is with the Swirl Killer Mini on the rear bumper. Mike stuck with the 15mm Long Throw Swirl Killer Kyle used the 15mm Rupes Bigfoot Mark II and I with my 15mm Rupes Bigfoot LHR ES The Rupes iBird Nano also came in handy inside the front fender vents and in the recessed area of the rear bumper at the license plate where even the Mini's were too big to reach completely. A local fire company was holding a chicken bar-b-q not far from Mike's place, and while we worked Mike's wife went out and brought us each a half chicken dinner for lunch! A Panel Kyle was working Before Heavy Correcting Compound After Paint Correcting Polish Same panel finished with Paint Finishing Polish Another panel Kyle was working Before During After The white specks are dust and there's a slight bit of polish residue creating a haze at around 8:00 in this above pic, but believe me, the paint was like a mirror. Here's a couple videos Kyle made of the front bumper while he was working it We wrapped up around 5:00pm, eight hours work, with three guys, equals 24 man hours on this car. She came out looking sweet!
  2. I'd tried to use a spray nozzle; didn't work, sprayer would clog so just a stream would come out. Also the product would end up drying in the end of the nozzle between uses.
  3. Gotta be more positive Rich It will be warmer and dryer by then!! As of this morning The Weather Channel's showing mid 70's to low 80's for set up days and the first day of the show, with only a 20% chance of rain.
  4. 2017 is the second year for this show. It's the combination of two they'd had in the past; Import/Kit Car and Performance/Style. Last year was a bit of a wash out, so I, and I'll bet the Carlisle Event Staff, are hoping for some good weather this year! We'll be setting up on Thursday May 18th with the Show running from Friday May 19th through Sunday May 21st. Look for us on the Mid-Way, just below the giant Detail Spray Inflatable on top of our rig, really, you can't miss us. http://www.carlisleevents.com/carlisle-events/carlisle-import-and-performance-nationals/default.aspx Plans are to have Troy Sowers and his McLaren MP4-12C on display with us. Check out Troy's videos on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Troy+Sowers
  5. The car will be just fine. How many vehicles do you believe are out driving around that never get waxed?

    MICE!

I place Fabric Softener Dryer sheets in the engine bay, throughout the interior and in the trunk. Even with mouse bait around I'll still have traps set along all four walls and one under the car. Lastly I stuff balled up newspaper in the exhaust tips.
  7. You can't even imagine Chris. I've got a great crew here on the grounds for set up right now!
  8. Ripped the trashed stripes off Michelle's Camaro. Polished out the hood and rear deck lid. She seems happy with the results!
  9. The original plug on mine broke like that several years ago. I simply replaced the plug with one from Lowe's. That plug failed this past winter and was replaced again...
  10. Would be the same for your wheels: http://www.adamsforums.com/topic/32410-never-using-adams-wheel-cleaner-again/
  11. Other than some bottle warping with the 32oz HDPE plastic, the HGG is fine in both the 32oz HDPE and PETE bottles. The Microfiber Revitalizer & Brightener and Strip Wash can eat through the PETE plastic over time.
  12. Picked up a set of aftermarket SAP (Sports Appearance Package) Side Skirts for a buddy's 2005 Pontiac GTO while working in Hatfield, PA Friday from gtog8ta.com Saturday, worked on a 2012 Ford Mustang GT. Eibach lowering springs; 1" front, 1.5" rear drops, Koni adjustable struts and shocks, and a Steeda adjustable Panhard bar installed. Sunday; rotated the tires on the wife's Volvo, and changed its oil.
  13. Wait, Ultra marathon runner or typo? 31 mile trail race? Now that's hard core! Oh, and the car looks great!
  14. Added the Hair Dryer to my first post above, missed that somehow in my hurry to get going yesterday when I made the post. The ghosting left from the stripe will/should be pretty minimal, but it depends on the age of the paint, quality of the paint, and where the vehicle sits during the day. If it's in the direct sun, say, somewhere in the south it could be worse than a northern car parked in a garage during the day. Polish the area once the stripe is removed to achieve the best appearance.
  15. 3M Adhesive Eraser Wheel Hair Dryer, Goo Gone and a Plastic Razor Blade
  16. I know I have a bunch in inventory at Carlisle. If anyone wants 32oz bottles of product please pm me your requests and I'm pretty sure I can make it happen. You'll have to wait until the week after the Carlisle Event, April 19-23, for me to ship, as that'll be the soonest I'll be able to get my hands on them. That would be the week of April 23rd before they'd ship. Again, pm me so I see the request, or email me at dave@adamspolishes.com
  17. Come on out and see the Adam's Carlisle Team at Spring Carlisle Wednesday April 19 through Sunday April 23rd. I've just placed a nice sized order, so we should have all the products you'll need to start this year off right. Included it the order will be all the new products released since last Fall including both the 15mm and Mini Swirl Killers, along with all the new 5.5 and 4 inch pads, all three Ceramic kits; Paint, Trim and Wheel, as well as Glass Boost, Ceramic Boost, and Coating Prep. We'll be doing a 10% discount across the entire line, as well as deep discounts on kits, and deeper price discounts on discontinued items!
  18. Thanks, $80 for the Engine Support at Harbor Freight, did the job! Click the play button and wait for it!
  19. There was a small dirt trail across the gasket right where the pan was leaking. I've got 100 or so miles on it after I installed the new gasket with no signs of any leaking. I believe I got it taken care of. I'll know for sure once spring hits and I can dive it more.
  20. I believe I've finished all my winter Mods... Front Sub Frame Dropped to allow access to the oil pan and a Fel-Pro Gasket was put in place to stop a pesky oil leak between the block and oil pan. GM Service Manual states motor needed pulled, Ha! New Axles and Inner Axle Stubs installed to stop the obnoxious wheel hop on hard launches. Seemed to work through the first two gears Alright, so that pic was late last fall after the oil pan gasket was replaced, but it was too good not to share! Replaced the leaking Radiator. Too bad you can't see this gem. I've replaced my secondary Catch Can (original one can be seen in the first pic above) with one of the same brand and satin finish as the other one in the engine bay. A second catch can just seemed like a good idea after I replaced the valve covers last year. The covers had no baffles in them like the stock ones did. Eventually oil would be making its way out the vent to the Intake Manifold through the throttle body lowering the octane of the fuel mix. Plus it makes a mess inside the Intake Manifold. Lastly, I've ordered a new Hood Insulator to replace the stock OEM one on the car. The last Cold Air Intake I had on cut through it some, and the one I have on now was rubbing it a bit with the OEM radiator. The local GM dealer who used to sell Pontiac's said they found one in Michigan, and having it shipped to them. If, in fact, they do have it, I should be able to pick it up next week. To make sure this Insulator doesn't tear or rub through again I've raised the front of the hood some, as well as lowered the Cold Case radiator on the lower core support, and made some slight body modifications to the upper core support with a block of wood and a BFH. The spots the paint's missing are now lower and no longer hit the bottom of the CAI allowing it to sit as low as possible...
  21. Mine is the one with the silver surrounds on the kidney grilles.
  22. You sure? Look at the size difference...
