  1. Congrats Matt on a great looking vehicle. We just picked up my wife's new Encore last night and I even had her notice that the contaminants are terrible and no plastic bag was needed. I know what I am doing this weekend! I always like to get the calipers and rotors painted too before they start to rust, leather treatment, etc.... I know I have a 15 hour job ahead of me to make it last as long as possible. She deserved a new one after 16 years with her Intrigue and the paint still looks great, except where the rust is of course. LOL
  2. I have some of the very nice gray microfiber towels that I use on my polished aluminum. After I polish wheels and valve covers I soak them in hot water with some tide in a bucket and then wring out the water. Rinse again in water and wash in the machine. They come out looking very nice. You won't get all of the black out like Jason said. I would designate these as your metal polishing towels now. I won't use any cheap microfiber on my wheels or valve covers because the aluminum scratches so easy. I spent a lot of time using a lot of products before I settled on Adams Metal Polish because it didn't scratch as much as other products.
  3. Mike I also do undercoating and petroleum based products will come off with a variety of products. I have used WD40 and kerosene in the past to take things off. There is a spray that I forget the name someone just told me about for tar to soak and spray off. The key with the wheels as everyone says is treat it like paint. There is a clear coat on those chrome wheels from GM. I know because my son just had all of his wheels replaced by GMC on his Denali pickup truck because the water and salt had gotten under the clear and really makes a mess of the wheels. I know a lot of people are using the spray paint sealant and I use the gray sealant in the bottle on mine. Either way claying, polishing and then sealing will make life a easier for cleaning and looks.
  4. How bad did all of the screw heads tear up your pads? My white trailer is in need of some TLC and I have debated how to clean it up and wondered about buffing versus the other thread about Bar Keepers Helper/Bon Ami approach.
  5. Welcome to another Buckeye in the forum. There are a number of us guys on this forum. Lots of great knowledge here so don't be afraid to ask. I get down Akron way for some car shows in the summer so maybe we will meet up somewhere during the summer. I wish I could acquire a car that way! Post some pics after you get it all done!
  6. Hi Adam and welcome. What part of Ohio are you in? There are a number of Buckeyes on here that would certainly be willing to help you out and show you some stuff. You have come to the right place to learn and get some great products!
  7. I guess I am still not sure what Adam meant with his statement Please submit a warranty registry for your Flex, if you have not done so already.
  8. It would definitely be interesting to hear from Adam on this thread!
  9. Nice Cars doesn't even cover it, Chris. You got spoiled with your last trip to Florida with Adam for sure! We know where the money is at looking at that group of pics. I can't even imagine seeing all of those cars in one location. WOW! It also makes us jealous as hell looking at that weather.
  10. Welcome fellow Buckeye! Congrats on the trophy and I have a sweet spot for the Grand Prix's since my 1997 gave me over 300,000 miles of great service. My daughter and son-in-law live down in Akron. Where did you get your trophy? Maybe we will cross paths at cars shows this summer, IF we ever get rid of this snow!!
  11. I agree with both Chris and Rich. I had it installed on the nose, headlights, back of side mirrors, rocker panels, and behind all wheels on my G8 when it was new. Yes if you close enough you can see it but for the protection it gives it is worth every penny in my eyes. I had a regular bra on my Grand Prix that I had over 300,000 miles on but it left a line across the hood where it wore on the paint and I had to constantly take it off to clean under it to keep the paint from getting all marked up. I really believe if you want to keep the paint as clean from chips as possible this is the best alternative.
  12. Thanks Len for sharing that. In this day and age of nothing but bad news on TV, it is great to hear of all the car people that have hearts of gold. All of us with children can sympathize with that poor family with a child with cancer. Tears your heart out. Prayers for the boy and his family.
  13. Just do the test that Dylan told us about a while back with wiping the back of an old disc with some other micro towel and then do the other half with one of your Adams towels. Chances are you will see the scratches from the other towel. Let him feel your Adams towels and that alone will convince him. The guarantee is a bonus!
  14. Adam you live a charmed life buddy. I thought it was amazing at Lingenfelter last year just seeing a Veyron up close and personal. To get to drive one.....I would have needed a change of pants! All of us car nuts are jealous as hell for your and Chris's experience. That must have been a tough decision to stay the extra day to DRIVE those cars. It is one thing to buff one but to get to drive them, priceless. Looking forward to more pics!
  15. This really brings back memories because a long time ago before I found Adams I always used paint thinner every spring to clean off all the wax and build up on my cars. It never hurt the paint and it was definitely stripped of the old wax, tar and anything else. I didn't buff and polish back then just clean and put another coat of wax on it. Turtle Was anyone? I think that is why my arms and elbows hurt me now in my old age! LOL
  16. While Mook and others will give you specific tips to make the scuff come out the best possible, I say take the time to even do a quick clay, polish, wax on the entire vehicle and they will be so shocked they won't even look at the scuff area. LOL
  17. He obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. Adam told us that they have GM part numbers on some of the Adams products when they struck the deal with the Camaro's and Vettes.
  18. Darrin, just let me know when you want to head east. My son was just in Van Wert delivering some cars. He has a car hauling business that he started a year ago with a 5 car hauler. I will look forward to meeting up with you and I am sure that black beast will love a coat of Patriot Wax after we get her all shined up and smooth as a baby's bottom.
  19. Hey Darrin, what part of Ohio are you in? There are a number of us guys in the Northeast section that would definitely be willing to help you out. I live about 30 miles east of Cleveland and would be willing to have you bring that beast to my house and we can really do a number on it with the Flex and PC. I love the sealant for it's durability and I am willing to put some Patriot wax on it for you to see what you think. I can also give you my thoughts and what I do to help protect the cars here in Ohio if you are driving it in winter. I tore all of the inner fender covers out of my G8 this spring and rustproofed everything I could and also painted rotors and calipers while I was at it. PM me if you are interested at all. I love showing others the great Adams product and Adam has challenged me to help spread the word when I can. I have a number of guys here at work that I have given the "free show you the products" in my garage. Tom
  20. Wow Hawaii!!! You sure don't have to worry about salt and snow on your roads. If it is a garage queen and never sees rain, I agree with Jeff that it would last a long time. If it sits out in the weather then it won't last as long. I have used the MSS for years and I really like it especially on my DD. It lasts at least 6 months on those cars. I have sealed and then used the wax as Dave said after the 24 wait and wipe down period. If you take the truck out and do any mudding or stuff like that you will definitely want to have the sealant on it. Post up some pics

    Grabiak's

Thanks Rich it is always great to read good stories for a change than what we hear on the news. I still remember the first trip there and especially with Adam and AJ taking pictures with her and the staff. We all had a great time and every year she is there to greet us. Great lady and great place!

    16 Wheeler G8

Hey Chris welcome to the storage club. I am trying to keep the G8 as clean and low mileage as possible for future retirement. I am curious how you pushed the G8 toward the wall. My dollies have handles on the side and I try to use those instead of pushing on the car. I only have a set for the 32 right now because I drive the G8 in. I have always put the 32 on jack stands to get the tires completely off the floor and I want to do the same for the G8 this year. Your G8 looks great as usual.
  23. Cooper, Chewy is the man and knows about these things. I was appalled at what was on my G8 paint when I got it new, but it came from Australia. My clear bra on the nose looks great and I machine polish it carefully with Fine Machine. I had to clay and polish my car new. Do the baggie trick to see if claying is necessary, but I would believe it is.
