Z06Seal got a reaction from Nickfire20 in Lord help me I spent some money with Adam's
I told myself I'll get bare essentials to get the new corvette clean and looking good. I figured a new car doesn't need polish - $165

I then told myself I should at least polish the car using paint finishing polish and get it looking real good along with some liquid paint sealant stuff for the daily drivers - $125..

Well now I needed a polisher - $120 for Porter Cable

Realized if i'm going to put all this effort and time into the car I might as well get paint correction polish and practice my skills on the daily drivers to have some experience under my belt for the corvette and do a real good 2 step and get it close to 100% - $134

Spent $544 dollars on cleaning products in like 1 week.

FWIW I saved 63 dollars with the 15% off LOL

Time to start fishing for overtime at work now!

I was thinking about saying F it, I spent all this money, let me get a FLEX as well. I'm not sure if that's going to happen now LOL

It's a more advanced cleaner, can be used on more surfaces, and clings better...leave it for minutes or more and it stays put. It's an incredible product, and quickly moved into my to 5, if not 3. Get it. You won't regret it. 😉

Just had it installed today. I can't even tell it's on, and it hasn't even fully cured yet. they have a heatlamp there where you feel it naked (no tint.. I had my clothes on lol) then you can put the film you'd like on your car. with this air 80, you can def feel less heat. dare I say almost half? then the pinnacle etc and you barely feel the heat.

I feel pretty sure this is going to make a big difference for us people living in very hot climates. Let me use it for a month and I will give a yay or nay. As of now, I want to put it on the corvette and the malibu.

Z06Seal got a reaction from MichaelN in Specific towel for spray ceramic coat?
Just watched the recent video Adams made regarding their ceramic products. I heard the guy talking about how there is now a specific towel for removing just the right amount of stuff from the paint when used vs using single or double towels which may remove too much product...

I recently (before this rebranding stuff) purchased the spray ceramic coat (right when it came out) and it was recommended to use the regular towels. Now there is a special towel for this...

Do I use a single soft towel, or do I now go order the suede towel?

I feel like I keep having to buy stuff 😥. Planning on doing my malibu with the spray ceramic before I do the bigger X5, which I just applied sealant on couple weeks ago...

    Thanks.

I see myself doing this for the daily drivers which are mostly leases for us. I wouldn't do this for the corvette. that's my therapy car. lol..

glad they finally came out with it though!

Now I'm waiting for the AIO (which they said they won't make, but I think they will lol) and a spray on wax that I can just wipe the car down as I rinse! (slightly simpler process than h2o)

    Curious to see the video!

I understand why some people are upset and I agree with them. The moral of Adam's was it didn't bring in products from places like mexico and china because of quality of products, how they were built etc. I appreciated that and didn't think much of it, but it impacted me enough that I still remember that video.

In the end, I don't care where the product comes from and I make my own decision on what I buy and where it's made. I have plenty of made in china stuff at my house and some of them are horrible, and some of them work real well.

My drill and impact driver is a Milwaukee M18 Fuel. I've gotten many compliments on it and they truly are a workhorse. IIRC it's made in China.

My buffer is a Flex and is made in germany.

My cars are american, european and japan...

Chinese even make decent firearms (Norinco)

Don't diss it because it's made in China; However I don't see myself buying this. I'd rather spend the little extra money and get the Rupes 19mm Mk 1.

It is what it is gents, after all Adam's is a business and their job is to make money. This will make them money.

Look at the new polish. They raved about 2 step polishing will do most work ad they were happy to get the swirl remover. Look what's back... It was a product needed and it made a comeback. It will make customers happy and make them money!

Good for you Adam's. I just hope you stand behind your product as you always have had in the past.

Worked on the CL550 all weekend. I wish my tire and rubber cleaner spray had gotten here, because the tires had some discoloring that I couldn't remove

I never worked on a car that needed claybar this bad (and couldn't tell). I have the nanoskin stuff and the fine grade could not cut it. I then tried my adam's (not the imprint one as I have an older one) claybar and thing was turning black. I finally grabbed the medium nanoskin and still had trouble. You could never tell it was this bad! I don't think this car was claybared once since it was delivered to the first owner (i'm the second).

I then got to work and tried an AIO and it did not even touch the swirl marks the car had (ok, maybe it touched it, but nowhere near to my satisfaction). so off I went with some compound and brought the paint back to an acceptable level (took forever).

At the end, I used my new go to favorite americana wax on the car and trimmed the only black plastic piece in the back with VRT. I used VRT on the engine bay as well along with in and out spray. The engine cover looks a little spotty, so when my tire and rubber cleaner comes in, I might spray and brush that engine cover and re-apply.

Well here are the results. I'm pretty satisfied. It took me fri-sat-sun to do, but I wasn't in a big rush and I took breaks after every panel. and It was still PITA. working on a car when the garage is 90 degrees and the outside air is nearing 100 is NOT fun. I don't like doing this stuff during the summer. I need to reserve me polishing to winter time LOL.

Did my yearly polish on the C7 to clean up the paint then put on a coat of Americana on it. Was the first time using it. I have to say the product goes on and off SOOOO easy. By far the easiest wax to remove (I waxed one panel, let that sit, did another panel and cleaned up the 1st panel)

The shine/reflection is good. The car's paint is in such good condition, anything I put on this car looks good, but I trust in my friends on the forum that the shine on Americana is one of the best.

I would try patriot wax, but I just don't see how I can get this car looking any better lol...

That being said, this is a great wax that really goes on and off easy! I think it would make darker metallic colors really pop.

I just took these when I got to work so they're not the best, but I've been busy lately and haven't had any pleasure rides in the vette lately. I took it to work today because she's been sitting in the garage for a month now lol.

Z06Seal got a reaction from bosco1 in New addition to the family! (pics)
    Hey everyone!

I bought a 2011 CL550 about 3 weeks ago from Texas Auto Direct. It was fully equipped and had 48K miles. The car was great and we got it for a good deal at 38K.

They gave me a 7 day buyback guarantee on the car....

After taking the car on a road trip right after we bought it, I fell in love with the car's ability to drive on the highway. What a car! It really drives like nothing I've ever driven. So quiet for a coupe too!

Well on the 6th day (Sunday) we were almost back home from our road trip, the car died. I suspected alternator had gone bad (battery drained) and had it towed to a mechanic. Everything was closed Sunday so I got a rental car and drove the family home from Orlando to Palm Beach, FL.

Monday I called the dealer I got he car from and told them what happened. I was told to just have the mechanic send them the bill and they'll take care of it, or I can be reimbursed for the repair. Great!

Well I called the mechanic and apparently it was a lot more than the alternator. Somehow the main nut that holds the harmonic balancer had loosened and caused the belt to stop spinning. The front main seal had ripped and there was visible damage to the crank. It practically needed a new engine or an internal overhaul. My world shattered when I heard this.... I called the dealer back and they were very good about it and initiated a buyback right away (this was on the 7th day which was the last day!!) Close call!

I guess god was looking out for me. I'm not sure...

Fast forward couple weeks, I found a local '11 CL550 (fully loaded again) with only 9500 miles on it! Car was owned in NY and barely driven. Clean carfax with all service records.

I paid 47K for this one and went over budget, but this thing is practically new. The independent dealer who also runs a European car mechanic shop threw in the next 2 years of service in for free (So I guess couple Service A and Last year, the dealer tried to sell the car as a CPO, but wasn't able to, so it went to an auction and this current dealer got the car. It has brand new tires on it as well. This time I got the USAA warranty with it, so I will have warranty covering it for the next few years.

Pretty excited! Car pulls hard and drives great. I can't say it puts my Stingray to shame in performance, but it does in class and luxury. I'm hoping this one will be trouble free and be a great addition to my collection! The car MSRP'd for $127K in '11 when new, so these things depreciate like crazy. People don't want these things because they are very expensive to fix. You really need warranty on these from what I can tell.

the paint is in good condition, but with 6 years worth of swirl marks from machine washes and brushes. I plan on taking 3-4 days to slowly work the car with the FLEX and paint correcting polish. Not sure if I will do finishing polish. I will see... Even though a coupe, this car is HUGE lol. Thinking I take my time and just work few panels at a time in a 5 day period or something. Little upset that they drilled into the front bumper to install the front license bracket which I don't need in FL. so there are 4 small (but very noticeable) holes in the front bumper now. It also distorted the bumper slightly from drilling near the holes. No way of fixing it really unless I have it sanded fixed then have the whole thing painted and cleared

I did use quick detail after. I wasn't going to bit I noticed a streak on the hood, so I just lightly misted the panels with QD. I dont think it was neccessary but it got rid of few streaks that would have annoyed me. Maybe 10 pumps for the whole car. It's negligible amount lol.

Going to put on buttery or glaze over it tomorrow.l just for therapy
