  1. You've got Adam's products on the brain. I think you mean VHT. http://www.vhtpaint.com/
  2. If I had a nickel for every time someone found out I ride and told me a story about "so-and-so wrecked his bike", or "I saw the EMTs carting off a biker" etc... I know they mean well (and I apparently have too many friends in the medical field), but no one tries to talk me out of driving despite all the car crashes that happen every day. And riding is infinitely more fun, so at least there's a tradeoff to the risk involved. About 15 years ago I had two close friends I often rode with. One day the 3 of us were out, and Friend1 crashed going into a sharp right on a 2 lane road. He wasn't injured, but the sight of his bike flying end-over-end was enough to convince Friend2 to quit riding. Ironically, he was killed just a few months later in a car wreck where he was a passenger. So while I understand the risks of riding and know plenty of folks who've been down, it bothers me when others who've never even experienced it act like nobody ever gets hurt unless they're on a motorcycle.
  3. Looking at DemoN's wheels, his kit should include gallon refills of the metal polish!

    Detail day

Friday after work tends to be my washing time. Otherwise it's Sunday evening, but I prefer having it clean for any weekend activities.
  5. :king:There are certainly a few perks to your job! Is the ZR1 hood "window" made of the same material as the headlights? Or at least would it be cleaned the same way?
  6. Nice turnaround! What was all the white junk on the interior?
  7. I've been riding 20 years, not including my years as a kid on the back of my Dad's bike (not sure that's even legal anymore). Riding is in my DNA, and I plan to do it as long as I'm physically able, but I don't have kids so my perspective is different than yours. Several of my friends I rode with in my early 20s quit riding when they started a family, and a lot of the folks I ride with now are older and have grown kids, so I guess a lot of folks weigh that and choose not to ride for a while. But as someone else mentioned, aside from the safety concerns I think another factor is that most folks choose family-oriented hobbies and get a boat or something more conducive to including the kids. But like I said, I learned to love motorcycles by riding with my Dad, so it doesn't have to be a solo activity. And a lot of folks start riding dirt bikes and ATVs at a young age, so that might be a way for you to get started riding and include everyone. Here's what HD recommends for their denim paint: Denim Paint Cleaner | Genuine Motor Accessories | Harley-Davidson USA (check out the video). It seems Adams Waterless Wash would be the ticket, but hopefully someone else with experience can say for sure. Apparently this is from a HD service bulletin on denim paint care: Service Procedure Cleaning Black Denim paint: For heavy deposits on finish: Use a grease cutting dishwashing detergent and a clean H-D wash-mitt (P/N 94760-99). Dilute dishwashing detergent per instructions provided by manufacturer and rinse thoroughly with clean water. For light deposits on finish: Use ammonia based glass cleaner and a soft H-D Soft-Cloth (HD-94656-98).
  8. Caution: Use of Adam's products is highly addictive. You've been warned!
  9. I just checked out their site Custom Builds - Kindig It Design Very cool stuff!
  10. I used Waterless Wash for the first time yesterday and was really pleased with it. But I'm in love with the Detail Spray! Effective, easy to use, and smells great!
  11. Nice color! Any "real" pics?
  12. Welcome! That's a beautiful (and under-rated) part of the country you live in.
  13. We have a nice dragstrip North of town, and I used to go all the time 10 or 12 years ago. My friends and I with our bolt-on, daily driven LT1 Camaros were pushing for 12s but couldn't quite get there with stock cam/heads. I still go as a spectator sometimes, but I haven't owned anything worth racing since 2003. Actually, that's probably not true. On several occasions I've seen folks win bracket races in why-are-they-running-that? cars. Some knucklehead would line up in his stock Corolla or whatever and just floor it when the light went green. No worry about wheelspin or anything, so consistency isn't a problem. He'd be within a tenth or so of his dial-in time every pass (even though it was 20-something seconds) and not worry about breaking out. Pretty clever, but still kind of annoying.
  14. Believe the hype! I was hesitant to spend $25 for "a towel" myself, but I was so impressed with my other Adams products that I gave it a shot. Plain and simple, it's the most effective drying tool I've ever used. One Great White is enough to dry my Sierra (granted, I go over it with a blower first), and I sleep well knowing it's safe on my finish.
  15. Did you turn the owner of that Javelin on to some Adam's metal polish?
  16. You should've put this disclaimer at the top of the original post.
  17. I love NOLA and I go there several times a year to visit friends and family, but I'm not sure I'd move there. First of all, I don't know how any car enthusiast can tolerate the terrible streets! Two of my cousins that grew up there have moved to Colorado (Denver area) and love it. CO is great, but you may be in for a bit of a culture shock...of course, that may be what you're looking for.
  18. Please take (and post) lots of pics!
  19. (despite it being Australian)
  20. I'd pay extra to NOT have this feature! I'm not a total Luddite; I can appreciate the technology. But as a car enthusiast, I'm offended that the driver is being taken out of the equation. Again, I can accept the upsides to the autonomous cars, but I also think modern cars have too much (distracting) tech as it is. It's also disturbing that this tech is being embraced by young men, the demographic that has long been the cornerstone of car culture. I know this isn't the death of the next generation of car enthusiasts, but unless there's some way to hot rod these things, I'm not optimistic about the new car market in the coming decades.
  21. Beautiful! I'd be scared to scratch it banging fenders on the track!
  22. Me too, but I'm trying to temper my expectations. That way I'll be even more excited when we learn GM did the right thing.
