  1. The Porter Cable is a great machine. It is economical and will give you great results! After the strip wash I would clay your car before polishing. As stated before Americana is applied by hand.
  2. I have three polishers now. 1. Porter Cable which was my first polisher. It was affordable and easy to use. 2. Flex 3401 which is what I use now to do most of my correcting. It is more powerful then the PC. 3. Rupes Mini which I got for small areas. I really love this machine! I have been considering getting a Rupes 15. That maybe in the Spring. I do all the polishing except on a rare occasion my wife wants to help in which case she uses the PC. The person helping you will have more impact on the polishing then the actual polisher. I would try another polisher like the Rupes. It would be a nice upgrade and give you a second polisher when someone is there to help.
  3. I was at work today and received a call from a friend who told me that someone spit/put gum on the hood of my car. She removed the gum and called me. I went out with security and filed a report only to find out that the two cameras covering the area are broken. I also think whoever did this spit on the side window of my car. No damage done. I had just recently applied a coat of the new Americana so I was protected. The residue on the hood and whatever was on my side window came off with rinseless wash. Needless to say I will not drive neither of my Challengers to work anymore. I will never understand what makes people do what they do.
  4. We go to the Ford, Chrysler, and Corvette shows at Carlisle. All are well run and organized. I'm not sure what is going on with this one. I do not think a name change will fix it.
  5. We have the same problem in Pennsylvania. Tar and chipping is nasty!
  6. I use an ozone machine and a steamer. I first clean the inside of the car and steam the seats as well. After the seats are dry I use the ozone machine.
  7. This may be a good option for our everyday car. My time to detail has decreased this year.
  8. I agree with Dylan. We used to have a car that had tinted red clear. Every time I polished it my pads were red.
  9. You may not be drying all of the detail spray with your towel. I fold my towel into quarters. I will use detail spray on lets say the fender. I use one of the quarters to dry off the detail spray. When I move to the door I will use another quarter. On a clean car I may use 3-4 towels. I also use the blue edgeless. If you see streaks you can also go back a wipe them away.
  10. I have 6 left. I just used it yesterday on my matte black wheels.
  11. A Procharged Shaker Challenger as a DD, what a great ride! Nice write up and great turnaround!
  12. Congratulations! B5 is a great color!
  13. Nike sandals in warm weather, rubber boots when it get cooler. This is for washing. If I am claying, polishing, waxing I have a pair of Brooks shoes that I use.
  14. Is anyone going to the Woodward Cruise?
  15. I just painted my garage floor. I ended up going with a garage floor paint (not epoxy). I am very happy with the results. What I learned (as mentioned) is that prep work is key. My garage floor is 40 years old with a lot of oil stains. It took me 2-3 days just to get the stains out. Etching is key to make the paint to stick to the concrete. The mistake I made was applying it when it was too humid. I let it dry for 7 days but when I parked the cars the paint peeled under the tires. I ended up placing mats under the tires which solved the problem but the humidty just did not allow the paint to cure properly.
