    Adam! Thank goodness!

We did raise potential issues with the pump on first launch, having said that any possibility to have some sent our way with our latest order?

Thanks for your support and continuing to trim the fat and making detailing awesome.

    Hey Everybody,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the forums. I am the newest Adam's Polishes team member! I have been here about three months and am loving it.

A little background about me... I am a local to Louisville, CO where headquarters is located. I started out as a customer that would occasionally pick up detailing products for our household. One day I walked in to restock and met THE Adam! I mentioned to him that if he ever needed any help to let me know. The next week I was in the office working! My main focus here is customer service. If anyone ever needs anything or has a problem, feel free to give the office a call and if your lucky you'll get me. If your un-lucky you will get Ben. (Just kidding Ben!) You might have seen me at some shows or spoke to me on the phone already. I'm still learning and I'm sure will continue to learn for a long time about the detailing industry.

Some more information about me: I love all European automotive. Now, majority of our customer base is domestic automotive so I'm learning A LOT. No too long before I started working at Adam's I got my MK7 VW Golf and recently put some lowering springs and a down pipe on. Currently 3Zero3 Motorsports is waiting for REVO to send over the software for my stage 2 tune.

Anyhow, I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself so when you see me commenting on the forum (or if you're ever at headquarters) you don't have to wonder who I am.

You're right that it becomes a lever, but not all levers magnify the input force. With the fulcrum being the rear hand, the input being the middle hand, and the output at the wash media this is a class 3 lever, and mechanical advantage will be less than 1 - i.e. force at the wedge is actually less than force at your input hand/arm.

Imagine the opposite case where you're using this pole to lift something at the end of it... it's going to feel heavier than it is.

Along the same lines, though, where the wedge already has its user somewhat disconnected from the feel of their paint relative to a pad or mitt, a wedge on a pole would leave the user very disconnected and they may apply too much force to compensate.

Still I think it's a good idea for those who have big vehicles and a lot of reaching in their wash routine.

Only if the distance from the input to the fulcrum exceeds the distance from the fulcrum to the output. Depending on specifics, there might not even be a fulcrum to lever against.

Personally I am not worried in the least using extensions for my cleaning media. I see the likelihood of excess force/pressure as virtually nil and the increase in my personal safety very real. (This old geezer really should not be balancing on ladders and door sills. I have enough replacement parts in my body!   )

Great concept! However I'm not too fond of any wash or dry medium "on a steeeek" when cleaning paint and here's why...

By constructing something like what is pictured it essentially become a lever and the physics of a lever is to exert a magnified output force from a smaller input force.

A lever is the simplest machine that has two material parts and two working components such as a beam or solid rod, a fulcrum or pivot point, an input force (or effort in this case) and an output force. Think of when you have to pry a nail out of a board using a crowbar. Little force input is given for a magnified resistance force to lift the nail.

By using a wash wedge or mitt that is extended on a pole, the force exerted at the output end (wash wedge) has the potential to be greater than the input (force from your arms and hands). Without factoring in that your own shoulders, elbows and wrists are levers within themselves, a wash wedge stick may cause extra and unnecessary "grinding" of the paint increasing the odds of inducing swirls.

On the other hand it will indeed save you bending to wash the lower parts of doors and rocker panels, I get that completely, but if you're like me, that's the last place I want swirls and scratches as I don't wan't to have to lay down on the floor later on wrestling a Flex Polisher to get them out.

Friends, I failed to test the red dispenser pumps on the Brilliant Glaze, Paint Correcting Polish, and Metal Polishes.  We started sending bottles out with them installed anyway.  Fact is, they work terribly.  Awfully. Bad.  And I'm not overstating this performance failure.  These caps are a BAD fit for several products, and I owe you an apology for sending out a product without testing the method that dispenses it.

The pumps work okay with some products, like VRT, Leather Conditioner, Shampoo,  Buttery Wax, Liquid Paint Sealant, and Rinseless Wash.  (Some hate the pumps altogether, and I can understand that.)

I apologize for not spending more time testing these pumps.   We don't often have failures of this level, and this was a big one. I blew it, and I'm sorry to have made your detailing experience less awesome.

So, now it's time to make it right.  Here is a link to the dispenser caps, which have an official price of $0.99 for 3 caps, which includes shipping.

HOWEVER:  If you have any product with a pump, and don't like the way it performs, we will send you replacement push-pull dispenser caps, FREE!

Kindly use the code, "CAPS" which will make the purchase free.

AmyAtAdamsAustralia got a reaction from Matt@Adams in MF vs. Foam Cutting pads?
    Hi Chris,

I had a quick search and I believe the video you're referring to is the comparison of the Gen4 pads.

When it comes down to defining which pad is "better" it will depend on the job at hand and the level of defects/damage on the paint. I personally prefer having a few of the microfibre and foam in my detailing arsenal as the damage on paint is never completely identical.

Usually a good rule of thumb is to start with the least aggressive method possible first i.e White Foam with Finishing Polish and see where that gets you. If you need more correction you can step it up to a Microfibre cutting pad and Paint Correcting Polish.

For our mobile detailing side of the business here in Australia, I'm finding the orange microfibre cutting pad with PCP followed by the white foam pad with PFP yields great results correcting 85-90% of defects.

Usually I think of it this way. Correction= microfibre, and Refinement/Glossing = foam. At the end of it all it is a case by case basis. As long as you perform a  test spot with the least aggressive combo the paint will let you know what it needs.

On a side note, we use the Flex, Rupes 21, Cyclo and PC on different occassions but the polish/pad combo usually stays the same. Varying the type of polisher changes the speed and aggressivness of the pass.

    I hope that helps you.

    Hello Everyone,

I had the pleasure of traveling to Reno, NV for Hot August Nights about two weeks ago.  It was a great time and there were so many great cars.  We had some amazing cars in our booth and were able to help some of our friends polish up their customs.  Adam was able to head down to the Eldorado and help the Top 25 Barrett Jackson Cup Nominees shine up their cars.  Overall it was very busy but was great meeting new people and making some cars look amazing.  Enjoy the video coverage from the event.  Look out for a Photo Gallery early next week.

Just felt it didn't really add anything that another polisher didn't already cover and felt going from 3 to 6 polishers was enough confusion.
We have one here, we tested it. Nice tool, but didn't really do anything that made it stand out enough for us to bring it in.
