carlrx7 reacted to RonBoy in Made In America - The Economic point of view
Like anything else you can justify your views in multiple ways. A tariff isn't always about handicapping rather leveling the field, we hurt our economy by buying the cheapest over value. The equation doesn't factor in the quality of life that is the true American Dream.

I'd take a heatgun/torch to the pinhole and seal it right up! Then you'll have TWO buckets!

carlrx7 got a reaction from mcotton in New Wheels and Cleaning
That's a good start, after the cleaning, protection is key. I use Quick Sealant on the wheels I just got. They clean up with soap and water real well.

carlrx7 got a reaction from Feets31 in Detailing Pricing, Charging too much?
Looks like a good pricing base, but the only fair way is to charger by the hour. make a spreadsheet for time to take to clean, light dirty interior 25, medium 50, heavy 75. same for wash and paint correction. customers will learn that cleaning up a little before taking it to you will pay off.
When looking for business, flat rates are great, but it sucks when a truck pulls straight out of a 4' mud hole and into your driveway!

Leather and Interior cleaner is the first step to properly clean the panel prior to applying the Leather and Interior Conditioner.

11 years at it.
I'm very good at what I do.

Question, Dylan, how do you do something as simple as post a reply to a topic, which someone with my claimed experience should know how to do in their sleep? I need to know so I can get back to running my billion dollar multinational equity firm and still have time to detail cars on the side.

Does this mean there won't be any more third-person self narratives about understanding certain members?

Just put that 427 edition in a storage unit, then bring it back in 30 years and sell it for a cool mil. in the meantime, buy a c7 and drive that!

Honestly, after spending a good amount of time with the C7 on a few occasions now... theres nothing really too unusual about the detail process on it. The biggest challenge is the extractors and vents as those openings are very much visible, but not necessarily easy to reach. Otherwise its not different than detailing some of the newer Caddy's, the Camaro, or other cars with a lot of angular body lines.

carlrx7 got a reaction from GerryC in Machine Super Sealant Durability/Longevity over Quick Sealant
I think the performance is pretty comparable between the two with MSS getting a slight edge and giving the paint an extra pop that aqs doesn't. for me, if i just got done polishing and have the machine still out, i put on the MSS. I use the quick sealant for the wheels and front end before going on a road trip.

carlrx7 reacted to Team Adam's in Machine Super sealant by hand
Quick Sealant will be back in stock soon and that sounds like it might be the best fit for you.
The issue with MSS by hand is what we refer to as 'tiger stripes' on darker colors. It has to be applied VERY thin and VERY even to get perfect finish from it.
On big, flat panels, like the your hood or doors, a hand application is going to have lots of highs and lows. MSS will leave a visual dark stripe on the highs in contrast to the thinner applied areas. On black, in full sun, it looks like stripes of slightly darker paint - thus 'tiger stripes'.
Its almost completely unnoticeable on lighter colors, but fairly obvious on blacks, blues, and similar darker colors.

carlrx7 got a reaction from GaryW in Old PC pads on Flex
I've noticed that the Flex will walk like a mofo if you use too much polish. I only have gen IV pads and only seem to have trouble with the white pad and FMP. Maybe it's because when I try to clean the white pad using the pad conditioning brush it doesn't seem to clean it as good as the green and orange, aka no/minimal visible dust coming off.
