Polishing pad question

Hey guys. First off name is Spencer. Been using Adams for two or three years now and always on this forum. I'm brand new to machine polishing and have all the pads and the pc for tool. I was just wondering, I am a very busy man and work a ton of hours and my car sits in a heated/cooled garage all year round and only get to polish an hour a night or so and wondering if there is any way to keep the pads from drying out other then cleaning them completely then letting them dry before using again. I tried leaving just over night with out cleaning them and using them again tonight and just made a ton of polish dust so I filled them full of all purpose cleaner and washed them good but not stuck waiting for them to dry in a couple days. Thanks in advance guys. Ps. Searched and couldn't find anything on this.

Only think I can think of is double up on the pads. That way one dries while you use the other. I know that cost $$$. Maybe a put into a plastic bag but for storage that is a no no.

Welcome to the forums Spencer, unfortunately other than buying some extra pads there is no good way that I am aware of.

As the others have mentioned, the only way to resolve the issue you face would be to obtain additional pads.

 

NOW would be a great time to get them with the Black Friday Sale currently going on through Saturday.

There are some great collections shown on here that have taken time to build up. I learned the same way about the pads, I had thought that 1 would always be enough, until I helped a friend out with his car and wanted to do my truck the next day....needless to say I bought a second set. Its also a great idea to add an extra towel or two if you can spare some cash to help build up your collection.

I have a ton of extra towels and everything else. Just not pads as I always hand polished before but decided to pull the trigger on the polisher.

You could try putting them in a ziploc bag and putting that in the fridge until the next day.  Worth a shot.

I have also put my pads in a plastic bag overnight and they're still somewhat usable the next day. You might need to give them an extra spray or two of Detail Spray to prime them though.

Yep - put a spritz of detail spray in the baggy before you seal it up and you'll be fine for the next day.

 

If you're looking at multiple days it will be best to get more pads.

Thanks so much guys. U have saved me a ton of cleaning and frustrating waiting for pads. As I used my microfibre orange pad two nights ago and still kind of damp lol.

My question on this is:

 

Can you put them in the dryer at either "air dry" or low heat? For either foam or microfiber?

pads must sit and air dry naturally.  I don't recommend the dryer.  While the ziploc bag will preserve them while doing a multi day correction its best to have a few of each so that you don't have the long down time while they dry

I agree, don't use the dryer. Air dry only, and yes it is nice to have a spare or two.
