Since it was cold weather yesterday.........I worked on one of my lawnmowers to get it ready for spring and have a few minor things left to do on it and then on to the other mower (both commercial).  Today just church,  resting, and spending time with parents.....It feels good to have a weekend of doing things I like to do and rest....Do not get me wrong I like to work but not having to do work work items on the weekend feels great (first time in over five years not have to do work work items over the weekend).  I did things on a few things about work but did write down some ideals I had on one of the many projects that I am working on.

Took an epic journey into the NC mountains to our cabin and spend two weeks cruising around!  We also attended the 2017 Blue Ridge Boxster Summit and enjoyed it immensely!
Had great weather until our return trip-then it pissed rain on us all the way from SC into FL!
Put a little over 2500 miles on the 991 and are about to crack 20K miles!  It was a great trip and a great road trip vehicle!

Had some friends from Naples head up and spend a few days with us with his new to him Turbo S.

I attended Mobile Tech Expo here in Orlando.  I went to a few classes and looked at lots of detailing products and tools.  Nothing like SEMA, but a nice show.  There were some really cool temporary work units - several inflatable units that can be heated and cooled, and one that was a trailer with sides that folded out to create more work space.  There were also some very sturdy light stands with LED lights.  This show is more for PDR than detailing, but the detailing side grows more each year.

    Ceramic Coating on Wheels

To provide better protection on the wheels, and to make cleaning easier, I applied Ceramic Paint Coating while the wheels were off the truck.  Note that I actually coated these wheels last month, before Ceramic Wheel Coating was released, hence the use of the Ceramic Paint Coating.  While the two products are very similar, the Paint Coating is rated at 7H hardness, so it is not quite as durable as the 9H rating on the Wheel Coating.

The coating kit comes with everything you need for the application.

I started with the backs of the wheels and the barrels.  Using the new, clean towel included in the kit, I cleaned the surfaces with Coating Prep, to make sure all soap residue was removed.  The coating needs a completely clean surface to properly adhere and provide the longest lasting protection.

When doing the backs, I was a little concerned about having coating drip around to the front of the wheel when being applied to the backs, so I applied with the wheels vertical, so I could immediately wipe any excess from the front before it dried.

For applying to the fronts, I laid the wheels flat on the tables.  I also used a detailing swab to apply the coating to the lug wells, being careful not to get coating on the conical nut seat.

Using the provided applicator pad, I applied the coating to half of the wheel, then wiped off surfaces with a clean towel when it started to get tacky.  As shown in the product video, you may also be able to see the coating start to rainbow as it dries, indicating the time to start wiping. I then applied to the other half of the wheel.

I also prepped and applied coating to the painted lug nuts.

While the wheels were off, I prepped and coated the rear shocks.

After letting the coating cure for 24 hours, I then sprayed the wheels and shocks with Ceramic Boost and wiped down with a clean towel.

Dressed the tires with Tire Shine, then reinstalled them.

Now, the test of how the coating performs for making cleaning easier.  This wheel has endured a full month of nasty winter weather, lots of snow and slush, and way too much deicer chemicals given the single digit temps this month.

This photo was taken twenty minutes after the above photo, after the wheel was pressure washed and then blown dry with the Blaster Sidekick.  No soap or brushes were used, just pressure rinsed and blow dried.

You can see the wheel is not 100% clean, but the amount of crud that was removed with the rinse was more than I had previously seen last winter with just sealant on the wheels.  I have also washed enough times during the winter to know that the deicer used on the streets is like glue, and is very hard to clean from the paint even with soap and a wash pad.  I am certain that typical dust from driving during the non-winter months will rinse even cleaner with the ceramic coating on the wheels.

DieselDude reacted to TheWolf in MTM Foam Cannon vs Regular Foam Cannon
Looking at the MTM sticker on the inlet of the cannon, and the specs listed, it appears to be the original MTM model 14.0263 that has a wider range of pressures and flows, but seems to perform better with gas or pro-level electric pressure washers since it has an orifice size of 1.25mm.  The electric model MTM 14.0349 has an orifice size of 1.1mm, and specs of 1100-2000 PSI and 1.4-2.4 GPM.  What is odd is the electric version model 14.0349 is not listed on the MTM Hydro website anymore.

As far as the differences between the Adam's Foam Cannon and the MTM Hydro Foam Cannon, they are similar in specs (other than the Adam's version having more range on the low end), but the performance is really going to depend on the pressure washer used.  In my experience, using a pro-level electric pressure washer rated at 1900 PSI and 2.1 GPM, the Adam's Foam Cannon worked better than the MTM Hydro (model 14.0263).

For the more common electric pressure washers with lower ratings, I would suggest that the Adam's Foam Cannon would work better, based on the reviews in this thread:

    http://www.adamsforums.com/topic/31851-is-there-a-consensus-on-the-best-pressure-washer-for-adams-foam-cannon/?p=497372

That photo from member 'chops1sc' shows an excellent level of foam from a $99 pressure washer using the Adam's Foam Cannon.  I have seen photos of the MTM used with this type of electric pressure washer, and the foam is not very thick and runs off quicker.

Here is a couple more review threads.  I would suggest going through these to see what other members are seeing for performance with various pressure washers.

    http://www.adamsforums.com/topic/31137-adams-polishes-new-foam-cannon/?p=486147

    http://www.adamsforums.com/topic/31133-pressure-washer-foam-cannon/?p=486111

So, my advice would be that if you are running a budget-friendly electric pressure washer, stick with the Adam's Foam Cannon.  If you have a gas pressure washer, you might see a little better performance from the Adam's Foam Cannon over the MTM Foam Cannon, or you might find they work about the same.  But, the MTM is $10 cheaper, so that might be a consideration for gas pressure washer users.

So after getting several of my orders in I couldn't wait to try out the foam cannon and boy do I love it. I would really recommend it to anyone looking for one. It made the whole process of cleaning a breeze. I did the strip shampoo, after that I did the 2 bucket process with the car shampoo and wow just beautiful. The shine and everything after that process looks great. I didn't get after pictures due to it started to rain but believe me the shine is crazy with the butter wax. I am going to save some money to order a swirl killer to tackle the big jobs. Hands down the best products I've tried, the wheel cleaner and tire/rubber cleaner, glass cleaner work great! The interior detailer is fantastic leaves the interior looking new again. Finally the tire shine not only does it shine just to perfection but smells great.

fyi the foam had been sitting for at least 3 minutes due to me grabbing my phone to take the pics.
