Great write-up Dan.  Especially the 'how to' parts for the new folks  that you don't think about after you have done several dozen of these.

Paint Protection with Adam's Liquid Paint Sealant

Now that the truck was polished and looking great, it was time to put on a coat of Adam's Liquid Paint Sealant to have a great layer of protection on all of the paint to last through the harsh winter months that most parts of the U.S. have to deal with. I elected to use my Cyclo to apply the Liquid Paint Sealant, due to how well balanced and vibration free the machine is, and to give my Flex polisher time to cool off some. These two X's of LPS were enough to seal the driver-side front fender and the driver-side half of the hood:

Note that I applied the LPS onto the top of the chrome front grille as well. Chrome can be protected just like clear coat:

For the smaller and tighter areas such as the side mirrors, headlights, bumpers, and the rest of the front grille, I used a microfiber application and applied the LPS by hand. I used a Single Soft Towel to buff off the residue, focusing on one panel at a time.

Lastly, while I forgot to take some pictures to document it, I did use the Adam's Glass Sealant on all exterior glass to give the glass some good protection against snow, freezing rain, salt, and all of the other nasty things that get sprayed back onto vehicles driving down a messy highway in the winter.

    Final Results

It was an overcast day when I finished the truck Sunday morning, so unfortunately these final pictures don't truly show how much this truck truly shines:

I hope this write-up is useful and that you found a few good tips or learned a few things along the way. Thanks for looking and as always, please let us know if you have any questions!

Sure!  It will not last long, but BG really adds 'pop' to the paint.

I apply it to garage queens and show cars, but put it on, then apply Americana over it.

This is one of the best I have ever used. Did my wife's 300s first then my 2500 next. Drove in the rain this morning and what a difference. All so cleaned the inside glass and man what it did was great. The best the inside glass has ever looked. Thanks Adams.

On the first day just liquid paint sealant is sufficient. On the next wash you can hit it with some h2o g&g if you want but it's not necessary. You can do the h2o g&g every 2-3 months and you'll be great.

Buttery wax isn't really necessary honestly if you're using liquid paint sealant and h2o g&g

Today, our town honored over 900 Viet Nam veterans with a lunch, ceremony, medal presentation, and a toast to all of our brothers and sisters who never returned or who served and are no longer living. I was fortunate enough to be among them.  We were all boys when we served, and now we're grandfathers and even great grandfathers.  40 years have passed since the fall of Saigon and the Viet Nam war ended, but the memories stay with us. I was on a Navy ship and never saw hand to hand combat, but I was proud to be sitting there among those who did so much more than I did to serve my country.  Here's a couple of pics my wife took.

If you look REAL close in this pic, about in the middle, you'll see a young woman in uniform in front of a man in a brown sweatshirt. That's me. She had just presented me with my medal and we were mid salute.

    Sure do.

The bag is made by a company called Thirty-One, and my wife is a consultant for them. She heard me curse my towel stack for what must have been the 50th time and surprised me with that bag. The bag can be ordered with custom embroidery like what you see on mine. The wire frame on top is quite sturdy, and standing inserts can be purchased to make the entire container semi-rigid. I did not go this route because as the bag empties, the entire bag gets shorter, taking up less room.

The materials seem very strong. It appears to be some variation of a thick nylon, similar to what a heavy-duty backpack would be made of. The top-edge wire frame is slightly smaller than an average drinking straw. So, pretty thick. The fitted top has 3/4" elastic bands in each corner which keeps the top secured but it's fairly easy to remove as well. All in all, I am very happy with the bag. It keeps the unwanted dust out whilst allowing me to access towels quickly.

Getting the 1912 race car ready for the Hilton Head Island Concours.  Spent 2 1/2 hours on the wheels - cleaned with Rinseless wash, then applied LPS, and BG.  Did a rinseless wash using the 'bucket of towels' method.  Then polished the hood top & sides, and cowl with PFP, followed by a pre-wax cleaning with Revive, then BG, and topped that with Americana.

Purchased tickets for my dad and I for Sunday's Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance.  They were a bit steep, but he has never been to one of these events.
My client has entered the 1912 Race car, so it will be fun watching everyone's reactions to this re-imagined bit of history.
I may do a quick cleaning on it later today.

I don't get that much grief.  She may say "what did you order now?".  When your married your money is her money and her money is her money......lol.  She says I could have much worse habits, like spending it at the bar.

    Hi everyone,

While I was busy editing the new "Winter Preparation Instructional" video, Dan posted some photos I took from the detail clinic last Saturday.  Thank you Dan for posting those.  The clinic was a great time and was very informative, especially having Jason and Dylan there from Rupes.  It was a great turnout and there were some amazing cars that came through since the weather was perfect.

Anyway, I just wanted to add to Dan's gallery of photos I took for you all to see and check out.  Thank you again for all the participation and we look forward to the winter detail clinic coming in December.  Enjoy and I look forward to hearing your response to the photos.

I think the reason he has 2 bottles of LPS in his order list is that the new 12 Pack Kit contains one bottle and the Porter Cable 74274XP Complete Paint Correction Kit contains another bottle

    One recommendation for this order:
2 x Adam's Liquid Paint Sealant  - this stuff goes a loooong way, so 1 bottle should last you at least a year.
Maybe replace it with a couple of MF applicators.  They are great for applying LPS to wheels.

And to echo Dan, get a 2nd correcting and polishing pad when you can.

The 6" pads work much better on the PC than the older 7" ones.  I started with the PC, and never had an issue with the vibration.  It is a great place to start.  If you upgrade to a nicer polisher later on, the PC can still be used for other duties - with a 4" pad for tighter areas, with brushes for cleaning carpets or scrubbing tires).
