As a new Adam's user who just dropped a hefty amount on products for what will be my first venture in detailing my own car. I still don't have my products but I am hoping I made a great decision. Admittedly, I felt comfortable buying from Adam's based on the aforementioned video that I found when the Foam Gun fiasco happened. I will say it sits a little uneven with me to dismiss a brand such as PC for making a polisher in China and then just a few years later do the same. Oh well it is what it is. I will say however the one thing I did not buy because of fear is a polisher and I am realizing I need one now if I am to get my car the way I want it. I have been relying heavily on Junkman's videos to teach and coach me up. Could someone discuss why the Swirl Killer would be a better first time polisher than say a PC7424XP or the Griot's Garage 6' Random Orbital Polisher. I can fully understand the idea that technique trumps product but am curious for some feedback. Additionally, is it just me or are others a little off put by the warranty for the Swirl Killer. I understand the 110% guarantee but for a company like Adam's to claim satisfaction guarantees, saying they had input on the polisher "had the manufacturer incorporate our own design tweaks and requests", I find the 1 year warranty to scream that Adam's lacks confidence in the lasting effect and durability of their product. Not that Junkman is the end all be all of the detailing world and while I'm aware there was a falling out of sorts between Adam's and him, something he said about polishers is, the best price and warranty is the way to go. Would love to hear some feedback whether it be from Adam's staff or Adam's loyalists seeing as I am not even acclimated with the suite of products yet.

It can handle anything I throw at it it just may take an extra pass to get there, which is fine because A, I'm not in a hurry ,this is a hobby for me not a business and B, because the goal for me is to leave as much clear as possible on my finish.i don't think you will regret the purchase of any polisher honestly there is just so many uses for one

I've done some rough interiors as well, take your time. On more than one occasion the seats have come out of cars but I'm fairly comfortable doing that as a full time truck/car technician. Steam is a great tool, I have this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00G00BTEA/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1479780256&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=mcculloch+steam+cleaner&dpPl=1&dpID=51-VKWDUxoL&ref=plSrch
I always tell people to remove trash and anything they don't want me to see. I remove everything from inside that's loose, do a first pass with vacuum. Extract/shampoo carpets and steam seats and whatever else needs done. Then clean and treat plastics, glass, seats back in and finally vacuum again.
It all really depends on how bad the interior is and the owners expectations/budget. You have to be realistic as well, I had a customer that I explained that an ink toner that leaked on to his tan leather seats and sat there for a week is probably not going to come out 100%.

I understand why some people are upset and I agree with them. The moral of Adam's was it didn't bring in products from places like mexico and china because of quality of products, how they were built etc. I appreciated that and didn't think much of it, but it impacted me enough that I still remember that video.

In the end, I don't care where the product comes from and I make my own decision on what I buy and where it's made. I have plenty of made in china stuff at my house and some of them are horrible, and some of them work real well.

My drill and impact driver is a Milwaukee M18 Fuel. I've gotten many compliments on it and they truly are a workhorse. IIRC it's made in China.

My buffer is a Flex and is made in germany.

My cars are american, european and japan...

Chinese even make decent firearms (Norinco)

Don't diss it because it's made in China; However I don't see myself buying this. I'd rather spend the little extra money and get the Rupes 19mm Mk 1.

It is what it is gents, after all Adam's is a business and their job is to make money. This will make them money.

Look at the new polish. They raved about 2 step polishing will do most work ad they were happy to get the swirl remover. Look what's back... It was a product needed and it made a comeback. It will make customers happy and make them money!

Good for you Adam's. I just hope you stand behind your product as you always have had in the past.

Made u the USA , Is a very powerful marketing tool. One that Adam has enjoyed for years and one that speaks to may people particularly to Americans .I don’t have a problem with companies selling Chinese goods, many do and it’s very often way to get a cheap knockoff version of the real thing. This is great for those that cannot afford the real McCoy because it gives them an opportunity to improve there polishing equipment from something like a Porter cable . The problem for me is that Adams sells his goods under the premise that he has a moral code ,one that doesn’t support products made in countries that don’t offer fair wages and safe working environments for their staff . If he wants to sell a polisher made in china don’t care . But imo he has to stop saying made in USA whenever possible because he has his name on the tool and chose where to have it built . I’m not saying ppl shouldn’t buy this tool or that it won’t improve people’s polishing experience ,all I’m saying is that going forward Adam should by rights change his marketing tactics , so he is not lying to his customers. Adams products are of high quality and I’m sure this new tool will be fine .he has also been quite transparent about where his stuff comes from which I respect for sure . I’m not going to stop using his stuff ,I like them as do many of his customers .

heres the thing I'm sure the issue isn't weather or not adams has a policy or not or that it's changed . It's that the the original policy that Adam had was a moral one based on the fact that in China they don't have proper safety regulations for their staff or pay them a fair wage which I understood and respected. I also uderstand that not everything can be made in the USA,some items are simply unavailable. There was never much grief given over the Flex because Germany takes care of their employees as does Italy.in the case of this new polisher it's adams own and he chose to make it in China my guess is for better profit margins . Which is fine a afterall he is here to make money. But in order to save face he has to stop saying made in USA whenever possible because clearly not the case here

The "kinda like a spray wax" i.e using Ceramic Boost as a stand-a-lone product intrigues me.

PostalTwo reacted to gabhart in Ceramic boost
Adam's Ceramic Boost is a cutting-edge new product that complements Adam's Paint Coating, adding an even slicker surface, more gloss, and prolongs the life of the ceramic coating. Ceramic Boost can also be used by itself, offering several months of protection and shine in a quick and easy-to-use spray-on and buff-off sealant that contains silica protection like our Wash & Wax.

Ceramic Boost works almost effortlessly on a vehicle surface that has been treated with Adam's Paint Coating. It does not require a long set-up time - spray it evenly across the painted surface, use a plush, premium Adam's Microfiber Towel to spread and work the product into the surface, and then either flip the towel over or use a second towel to buff it to a streak-free finish, much like how you would use Adam's Detail Spray.

Adam's Ceramic Boost also has hydrophobic properties that will not only bead water incredibly well, it will repel water from the surface - making it more difficult for dirt, mud, and other road grime to stick to the surface and allowing for easier maintenance cleanup as well. Step up your detailing game with this product, you're going to love it, 110% satisfaction guaranteed!

    INSTRUCTIONS:

    1. Wash vehicle, thoroughly rinse, and dry, following our videos.

    2. Generously spray Adam’s Ceramic Boost over a panel to be treated.

    3. Using a premium Adam’s Microfiber Towel, spread evenly over surface.

    4. Flip the towel over or use a second towel to lightly buff away residue.

    5. Repeat for most exterior surfaces – paint, plastic, and chrome.

    6. Apply to wheels last. Do not use on glass.

    Common Sense Warning:

This product will work best on a clayed and polished surface that has already been treated with Adam’s Paint Coating. Work quickly if using in direct sun to avoid streaks or spotting.

Using Ceramic Boost as a stand-a-lone product also interests me.

Based on REALLY limited information, it seems Ceramic Boost MAY be particularly appropriate on vehicles previously washed with Wash and Wax. (But would it be a better choice than say H2OGG? Or a coat of wax?)

Am I the only one who is disturbed that Adams is selling an item made in China? Adams actually stopped offering the PC a while back because its country of origin changed to China for a time. Now their logo is even on this thing! Im sure the product will perform and be a seller for them but it's sort of a deal with the devil. One not so minor reason I am an Adam's customer is because they didnt do this sort of thing.

It's quite possible that you could get 3 applications out of one bottle on smaller vehicles, but we need to estimate on the lower side to be sure that you don't run out of coating half way through application to a vehicle.

On my Chevy SS, which is a large full size sedan, I used just under half of the bottle to coat all panels - hood, fenders, doors, roof, rockers, trunk, bumpers. There is a lot of painted surface on the car - not much textured plastic on the bumpers like other vehicles, which would save on some coating. I did have a little less surface area to deal with because of the larger side windows, which cut down on overall door height somewhat, and from the sunroof too.

I updated the question above accordingly.

PostalTwo reacted to shane@detailedreflections in First thoughts on new Rupes Polishers
So despite my wife probably wanting to kill me, I may have lost my mind and decided to add a Rupes 15 mk II, a Rupes mini and a Rupes nano to compliment my cyclo (right tool for the job and all that, right?). I unboxed them today and figured I'd share some initial thoughts. I'm doing a detail tomorrow for the neighbor where I'll follow up and finish my thoughts.

So for now, here's my gut reactions.

Rupes 15 mk II - First, my reason in getting a 15 in addition to my cyclo is that the Rupes has just a little more cutting power. The other reason is that I've been doing more and more work for other people and I've been doing the work with my buddy that's also a shine freak. So having two polishers working is where the time is greatly reduced in completing the job.

Holding on to the polisher feels quite a bit different from the cyclo. It feels very balanced and doesn't feel as heavy as my cyclo. Plugging it in and turning it on, it seems to feel pretty smooth. We will see how the results and feelings towards it change tomorrow when it goes to work.

Rupes Mini - This polisher is definitely going to come into play when doing bumpers and other smaller areas. I can see it being useful for getting between raised letters on the back of a vehicle. One of my vehicles has chrome letters across the back of it. There's decent space between them, but not enough for a larger polisher. The one thing I don't know how I feel about is that it's a large diamete body. I can see it being a little uncomfortable if you were doing a lot of work with it. Again, it's just a gut reaction. Tomorrow will help to put it to work and see how it really feels. Again, a lot of uses.

The Rupes Nano - I chose the shortneck version after reading some input from Dylan on control. Unboxing the tool is impressive. It comes in a nice case with all the appropriate cutouts for accessories. The kit comes with 1.25" polishing pads and 2" polishing pads, some polish, a nylon brush and a boars hair brush along with the batteries and chargers. The polisher can be set up as an orbital or a rotary (I'll really only use rotary for brushes). The tool has a gentle startup and feels great in your hands. I can see this being a tool that's going to push into the "next level" of detailing. The uses seem endless. Everything from easy scrubbing of interiors, correcting smaller areas such as door sills and jams, mirrors, etc. the list goes on and on. One of the uses I'm most excited about is going to be for metal polishing. I can this product making polishing exhaust tips super easy (I purchased the correct pads for a metal polish as well). The boars hair brush will be great for getting small areas of cleaning wheels or interiors that need gentle cleaning. The nylon brush for scrubbing a small interior stain. I'm also curious if you can even utilize some polish to correct blemishes on interior panels that are smooth. I may find a scrap panel somewhere and try it to see what the results are.

If I had to pick a single tool I'm most excited about is the nano. This tool is going to be a lot of fun to play with.

I'll post some more thoughts when I'm done with detailing tomorrow.

    Enjoy.
