I have most of mine on a shelf, but with a new garage coming who knows what might happen.....

If you want to display them I would think that you could use the closet maid shelf and then on the lower bar hang the bottles with the labels facing out.

That is pretty much what I did! Check the right side of the picture. Think they were $15 each and I used two. Perfect bar for the bottles and gives me storage above. Plus the bottles are out more so easier for someone with shorter arms to be able to grab.  The shelving is from Costco. Two units. You just assemble so one set is stacked and another is set to workbench height. Think they were about $80 each.

  2. Just read that Adam Pitale is going to be in Bellevue, WA for a detail clinic at the Park Place Auto Salon.  On the Park Place Auto Salon website they do not mention about the event, as well they in the past were a reseller for Griots and Swissvax (not sure if they still are, but their website shows they are).

Stange as would have thought to have seen this in the events here on the forum...

Congrats on the new truck!  One bottle of wheel coating should be able to handle all of your wheels (and then some). Adams gives 50ml bottles, we probably average about 10ml per set of wheels for reference. Give or take. But three sets of wheels from a 50ml bottle is certainly within reason.

Is that including doing the barrel?  And just applying or with air brush application?

Lenore is correct about the hot water.

I attended a 'Microfiber 101' class at Mobile Tech Expo taught by Levi from The Rag Company.  They recommended to skip the Hot setting, as MF can melt at 140F, and some hot water heaters may be set to that, or higher.  I use the Hot setting for my white polishing towels without issue, but results may differ.  Not sure if the towels do not heat up to that temp when they are boiled, but I know that can work to 'revive' them sometimes.

Woohoo....thanks for the confirmation.  The key in this is like you stated, the overall temperature.  Most people will not have their hot water set that high, as it is not recommended and can actually burn you.  I kind of go with the rule, if I can put my hand under the water and it don't think "crap that is hot" and don't think "crap is this water ever going to get hot', then the temperature setting must be just right....and then it would be safe to wash on hot.  My problem with some of my microfiber towels and as well the wool wash mitts is the pine needles...the pine needles hide out in the roof ditch and microfiber towels pick them up so quickly, have to constantly check to make sure none got picked up in the towel.

Congrats on the new ride!  I’ll make sure to do at least a photo how to if not make a video. I know in March/April we have a nice 71 Nova coming in for coating. Also have some other projects coming. A lot of clients are waiting for better New England weather before spending the cash. I’ll make it happen though.

Well, I may have to try it sooner!  The hubby decided he needed a new vehicle.  We picked up a Chevy Silverado LTZ 100th Anniversary (of trucks) Edition (Centennial blue).  So now he wants me to ceramic coat the entire thing  (rims, trim, paint).  The rims are huge...so instead of getting two sets of Camaro rims done....figure will only be able to get the one truck done...oh well.  Will just have a reason to place another order ;)

It can be considered a “professional kind of thing,” since a lot of people don’t have the required stuff and it’s a little different application.

When buffing off coatings, you’re really removain’t excess and uneven coating. With a spray application, there is typically less to buff off since it’s more even from the beginning. We still let it tack up and buff it, but buffing is much faster than with hand application.

Next time we spray a set of wheels, I’ll try to do photos/video and a write up on it.

That would be great to see!  I have a new Hot Wheels coming in around April, will be immediately doing the coating and was thinking of doing the rims this way...

Yeah I'm hoping I don't have to deal with any rail dust, it's marked as a sold vehicle so it does have shipping priority and shouldn't sit in a yard for too long.  I will analyze once it gets here but looks like a Revive/Finishing polish will be all I need depending.  All the dealers/bodyshops/service centers etc. I'm part of are in Metro Detroit area.  PM me if you ever need anything and I'll be glad to help.

I instated a qualified detailing crew at our Cadillac store because we do boat loads of black cars there and I was tired of watching them be rubbed down with rags deserving of the garbage can.  That's in the works at the rest of them hopefully.  When we get Vettes in or other top level vehicles I ask the customer and see but usually I'll have them skip the free wash.  Very few people that work at dealerships in my experience are "car people", and inside of the car people class even fewer are "Detailers" or at least detail minded.  They don't understand things like swirling, contamination, protection and the damage you can do with improper habits.  And it would be way too expensive and time consuming to employ people who did, as much as I would like to.

If you ever take your car to the dealer, it's usually fairly easy to get them to skip it (The damn porters are lazy anyway!) just ask them to not wash it and they should be happy to oblige (I'm sure most of you already do this).

Did you read on Camaro6 that some of the ZL1s shipping west may have been damaged in transit?  Granted that is not any going your way...but sad regarding that happening.  I regret not having my new 2018 Hot Wheels 2ss M6 Vert ordered with direct private enclosed carrier instead of the standard shipping via rail car (it's TPW is 3/12)...oh well, I know how to detail and take care of it when it comes in.  My plans will be to ceramic coat it (being a vert it is easier to do...lol).  As for polishes, would think that Adams new one step polish (after a wash/clay is done) is exactly what would be great for a new car to even out the clear coat and get ready for a nice LPS and H20 G&G.

Thanks, Wyatt. I panicked, started boiling them, lost patience - what the %#×! do you do with a boiling hot DST?! Impossible to ring out - and so washed in MRB. Anyway, they're soaking now in APC and I'll rewash tomorrow in MRB. Fingers crossed.

I about freaked when I found them! OK, not "about." I did. Did I mention two brightly colored, non-MF towels also found their way in the mix? :willy:

Be careful about using too hot of water or drying cycle.  They can cause issues with the fibers binding and no longer being as efficient.  I also have had the issue with someone washing my detail towels in error (usually my glass towels for my household use) & that person uses fabric softener (I do not like fabric softener - it is a touch/feel issue)...so good to know about using APC to get that artificial softness out of the fibers so that they will do their job properly.

Welcome Eric, some great products here, and they will definately get you the clean car and shine you desire.

Kits are a great way to get started, but sometimes its just worth investing in the gallons and moving forward. The first thing you should do is decide on a budget, that will really help get your collection going.

At this point you are better off getting the ultimate kit,  its $1200, but with the current sale would be $1020 and free shipping.

Evrything Adams sells is top notch, youll be very happy!

Welcome to the forums!   I agree with Eric, you have to decide on a budget as it is easy to go overboard.  That being, I agree with NickFire20 as well if you can afford it.  I started out buying a few things in 2013 to try out to see if I liked the products for a new car, and within 3-6 months, ended up buying an Ultimate kit.  Since you need the Matte Detailer & Protectant, you can look at what is in the kit equivalent  (that you may not use) and then call in to place your order and ask to replace those items with the Matte Detailer & Protectant instead.  They will also build a custom kit....hope that helps!

They look great and yummy, Lenore. Nice to see you've added a more shippable item to your line!  :)

Wait until you see the cookie cutters I have that are automotive related!   The true reason have been trying to learn to do fancy cookie decorating will reveal itself soon...maybe even this weekend....

  11. Here are the Valentine Cookies made for work today along with cupcakes.  The cake for both types of cupcakes is a chocolate sourdough cake (recipe from King Arthur Flour where also got the excellent sugar cookie & frosting recipe).  One set has a maraschino chocolate ganache filling and the other is peanut butter fudge.  The cherry filled ones then got a cream cheese frosting that half was vanilla and maraschino cherry juice, the other half was mixed with some of the cherry ganache (and some additional cocoa powder).  I then put them both in  pastry bag and piped on so it gave a swirl affect.  The other used leftover chocolate frosting from the Nutella Cupcakes.  Add in pearlescent heart candies and sprinkles of edible glitter (of course).

Your cookies look great Lenore.  There's a woman in my town that makes the most amazing cookies.  She's pretty talented.  I thought these were pretty clever for Valentines Day.  She sells and ships them everywhere, even to the Super Bowl and the White House.  My wife gets her cookies to send to the grandkids  on holidays. You can make money doing it for sure.

Those are awesome!  That is the type of thing am looking at eventually being able to create.

  13. I went to a valentine cookie decorating class on Saturday.  Was fun and nice to have someone actually walk you through the proper way to make a cookie decorating frosting.  Attached is some images of the cookies I decorated and as well of the facility signs.  Now to try baking and decorating some Chevy BowTie emblem cookes and some Hot Wheel emblem cookies, maybe even a Camaro or Corvetter emblem or two...

This is is a better and healthier alternative to pancakes that I found at Costco, it’s my second bag

Thanks!  Will have to look & see if our Costco has it (somethings are regional).

  15. I like mine.  That being said, I have a larger cordless rechargeable led light from CAT that picked up from Costco for $30.  It is great, is also a portable battery charger for USB enabled devices.  Have pulled it out at car meets and inspected paint on other vehicles, owners who just had cars detailed are amazed at what I show them was missed or not completely paint corrected.

I have polished wheels that look great. They require a lot of attention to keep the brake dust from building up in the barrel of the wheel. The fronts of the wheel are polished but the barrels are not and I need some advice how to coat those barrels so I don't have to scrub them every week. Anyone have some good ideas?

    Thanks!

Beautiful Arctic Blue 6th Gen!  A lot of the Camaro owners change the performance brake pads out to ceramic and that lessens the brake dust considerably.  With that, definitely ceramic coating them will help as well.  Even though we are some distance away, hope to see you at a Camaro event (there is the Camaro Sturgis rally at the end of June that is fun...but you are probably closer to attend CamaroFest).

  19. So cookie decorating is not my strongest skill...here is ones I did for super bowl along with the cupcakes. So Saturday morning am going to a King Arthur Flour Valentine Cookie Decorating class. Hopefully will learn some great tricks. As I have a Hot Wheels flame cookie cutter & Chevy bow tie cookie cutter that want to use.

Thanks for such a warm welcome, browsing this forum I can already tell what a great group to be a part of! I am in the midst of moving our location to a larger city, of Peterborough On. and once I get settled in will allow me to do some more interacting with other friends on here.

I sold my Mopars leaving me with the Ram Rebel only, hopefully get into something else fun this summer. Stuck on Mopar, but I want to go into this open minded and consider possible GM & Ford each as contenders as well! Lol

Well, you really should check out the Western Canada Camaro Club....they are super active, love to go to the track, and love their cars.  After hanging out with them, you probably would become a GM fan!
