MikeSoFlo reacted to BHarris23 in Clay lube ... so many options
If you’re gonna do a paint correction, save yourself some money and product. Just use the soap and water from your bucket with your clay. It’s quick and saves time AND money!

I have a homemade detail spray that I use. It's a concentrate of 3oz rinseless wash (non adam's although his would work fine I'm sure) per gallon of distilled water. It doesn't leave any residue behind and is plenty slick. It's also SUPER cheap.

MikeSoFlo reacted to shane@detailedreflections in Family changes bring about new cars...
First...a little back history. On July 2 my wife and I took emergency custody of her cousins four children by way of DCF. What was supposed to be a “seven to thirty day arrangement” looks to be much longer with the possibility of being permanent. So we went from a family of three...my wife, sixteen year old daughter and myself to a family of seven with the new kids being one, three, six and seven.
Two years ago my wife and I purchased two Subaru Crosstreks as our daily drivers. We have a Lotus Evora as our garage queen. Well needless to say, the Crosstreks don’t handle five children and two adults so we found ourselves in the market for an SUV with a third row. We ended up deciding two was the better situation so we don’t have to swap cars back and forth or dealing with schedule changes.
After much debate, my wife and I settled on a pair of Subaru Ascent Touring editions. We got a grey and a blue.
So after all of that, it brings me to the point of this post. If there’s interest I’m going to take everyone through how we do “new vehicle prep.” To start with, they’ll be prepped for traditional sealant and wax. The reason they aren’t being coated immediately is that we are most likely going through accreditation with a company that offers a nine year coating. If we do, that’s the coating I’d like to use on them.
But we will also be installing Premium Shield paint protection films on the front end.
Interior wise we we will be installing coatings on carpets and all leather as well.
The windshields will also be treated with a glass coating.
So stay tuned as we dive into this project!

I use diluted Rinseless Wash (15oz. distilled water + 1oz of RW), as it is muuuuch less expensive than Detail Spray. With our heat I am not able to leave the rinse water on the car, unless I am washing at night.

A lot of Adam's products and some rare ones!
In the video you end up seeing that in the foam cannon that they use is the Adam's blue Car Shampoo.

MikeSoFlo reacted to Rich in Soft Storage Bag for SKs and other polishers
Get a pillowcase, cut two small slits in the top, run a cord or rope through it, slap an Adam's sticker on the front (or all over) and call it a day. Cheap and easy.

MikeSoFlo reacted to Editguy in Bottles not coming with red seal cap?
Not sure if this is related but I sent an email asking if they would stock the red caps in the store for purchase for those of us that want to store long term and the reply back was basically no because they are redesigning the bottle tops to have a built in long term seal.

I do NOT need to have Adam's provide an easier way to spend my money. Nope. Nuh uh. Not gonna download it. Wouldn't be prudent. Not at this juncture. ??

Thank you everyone for the welcome. Here's a few pics of my charger and wife's new Pacifica, along with a few of my Adams products. I've since added to my collection. Their products are addicting lol

MikeSoFlo reacted to shane@detailedreflections in Ceramic Wax VS Patriot Wax
Paint sealant, glaze and Patriot is a great combo for a garage queen vehicle.
The ceramic wax is a good product, but it’s best mate is a ceramic coating. If you came to us, the sealant, glaze and patriot is what I’d typically use unless you specifically wanted the ceramic wax.
If you came with a ceramic coated vehicle, the maintenance routine would be different.

MikeSoFlo reacted to mc2hill in Household paint on a car ... What to do?
I would recommend the Clay Mitt over the Clay Bar. I have done a few cars that had paint from a water tower, and it was not fun with just a bar. And it required polishing to remove the marring from the clay. I agree with the plastic razor blades, and I would suggest a plastic putty knife for wheel wells. Good luck!

I would try Goo Gone and a plastic razor blade, when finished re-wax or apply PS.

MikeSoFlo reacted to Rich in Household paint on a car ... What to do?
Latex paint I hope!! I got line paint on my black Vette years ago. Took a lot of elbow grease and clay bar and got it all off. Fortunately, I had plenty of wax on the car so that helped. But the wheel wells were a pain. I did manage to scrape and clean it all off. Those plastic blades are a life saver.

I would try something like mineral spirits on the inside of the trim to see if that softens it.
