Mark L got a reaction from IrishCurse in Fire Hose Nozzle 'Self Adjust' Fix
There was a thread about this problem way back and it said to do the same thing. I've done this to my nozzle twice, including a couple days ago, and I'm still having this problem. I wiped almost all the grease off and it's still moving. I even used some APC on a shop towel to get the grease off.

Every time I set the nozzle down while washing, the rubber grommet will move and the spray pattern will change. I've just grown to accept it.

I do wish they'd redesign the nozzle with perhaps a design where you pull a sleeve down to move the nozzle from fan to stream vs the current design. I think it'd be much improved. I know I would love the fact if I set the nozzle down on a certain spray pattern and it stayed on that pattern.

This is my only gripe with the fire nozzle. I will admit it's much worse for those of us who use the brass quick disconnects, because the entire nozzle will spin vs staying static without the quick disconnects ( you have to use 2 hands, 1 to hold the maroon part of the nozzle, and the other to turn the black rubber part). Only reason I use the quick disconnects is to switch to and from my HydroFoamer.

Anyways, how about that new polish system that is coming out

Can't wait to try it out.

I think I'm more excited for the new pads though

Yeah I saw the cyclo, but I heard that was coming. Never used one before, but I have experience with the regular rotary polishers.

I've yet to use the microfiber pads, heard great things about them though.

I'm 95% certain Adam's is coming out with them. They're listed in the wholesale orders section of the site.

I'm really just happy that Adam's is going towards the rotary market. I use all their products, outside the polishes, very excited for this new compound

    Gotta agree here.

Once you go rotary, you don't go back.

I rarely use my PC anymore, I might use it to spread Brilliant Glaze, but that's about it.

I painted a lot of custom pieces for my old Tahoe, color matched the center console, door panel pieces, entire dash, etc.

I color sanded everything and I remember trying to get the shine back with a PC...... that was fun

That's when I ordered my Makita and have been using it since.

You want to see a true headlight restoration...... color sand with some 1500 grit and 2000, then go over it with a rubbing compound and a rotary, they'll look brand new!

Yeah pricey, but it'll come with a lifetime warranty if purchased through Adam's.

I've been using a Makita 9227C for years and while I love it, it can become very heavy under long polishing sessions. The Flex rotary only weighs 5 lbs and is easier to maneuver from what I hear.

This is as good as it gets for gun rights. Never see these stories on the news.

I don't have kids, so I can't feel what you feel, but I pray when I do have kids, they'll be trained with a firearm just as your daughter is.

Believe me, I'm a gun guy through and through.  I'm not into hunting, but I do enjoy going to the range at least twice a month to take out some targets.  For me it is a way to release some stress.  My father was a homicide detective and for as long as I can remember, I was around and shooting guns.  I have my CCW and have used it in a situation before.  I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but as my dad used to say, if you can't protect yourself, don't expect someone else to.

For those who say we need gun control and limit how we can protect ourselves, I say to them tell me your stance after your daughter calls you crying out your name for you to help her.

I'm anxious to see what they release as well.

    Possibly some new pads too?

I've been using 3M compounds for years to get the really tough scratches out. It worked wonders on a 2001 Mercedes CLK320 that my Aunt left me when she passed last summer. The paint was brutal! Now it looks like new. Amazing what a true compound and the right pad with a rotary polisher can do

Yeah my city filed bankruptcy last year and it REALLY hit home for my family.

My Dad's a retired Police Lieutenant and put in 30 years of service from 1973-2002. When he retired, the city had lifetime health insurance for him and my mom. This was a benefit he paid into and earned over 30  years. Well long story short, the city didn't put away money to honor this benefit and insisted on spending millions on it's "Downtown Renovation" project. No one wants to go downton, it's the bad part of the city, yet from 2004-2008, the city council spent millions upon millions of dollars building a new downtown arena, new minor league baseball park, as well as commercial real estate covering a new movie theatre and restaurants.

They didn't put money away for retiree health benefits. When the **** finally hit the fan, they took away all health benefits from all city workers last summer. It was pretty intense at the city council meeting last July, as there were retired Police and Firemen who have now developed cancer and health problems of all kind due to the nature of their jobs. One guy had brain cancer and gave an emotional testimony begging the council not to declare bankruptcy, in went to deaf ears.

Oh, forgot to mention, the idiots on the council at the time paid Neil Diamond $1M to "christen" the new downtown arena...... no joke.

It's this kind of fiscal irresponsibility that drives me nuts.

Taxes are a necessity of life, but when the money is continually misspent, it's just a losing battle over and over.
