  1. Temporary is good - not a fan of the UFOs. Nay. Not interested in larger blocks. +1. +1.
  2. Thanks, Nick! I appreciate the "rain or shine" confirmation.
  3. Nick - Will anything change, aside from the cars getting wet, if rain materializes earlier in the day? Would the clinic be canceled/postponed, or is a going to happen "rain or shine"?
  4. You should always use the least aggressive correction method that achieves the results you want. Based on your description, I'd say the answer to your question is yes. The way to be sure is to try the single-stage (Finishing Polish) correction on one area/panel. If you're happy with the result, you're done. If not, it's two-stage time...
  5. Last year's was great. Looks like a excellent plan, Nick, especially in light of the afternoon thundershowers we frequently get. Thank you! Not sure if you're gathering a head count, but it looks like I've talked 3-4 friends into caravaning up in from around the area.
  6. I always understood that to be the case, but who am I to argue with Adam? If he says LPS will work just as well on top of BG, that's good enough for me.
  7. Any update on the rumors of a Detail Clinic at Adam's HQ on 24 May...?
  8. I've had zero problems using the method/products demo'd by Dylan, on my 2013's matte stripes. As others have said, it sounds like you had too much SVRT (residue) on yours. As with many Adam's products, LESS IS MORE! A few outdoor shots... An indoor closeup (including the TF Heat Extractor I recently installed)
  9. If you have all the stuff, I'm not sure why there's any question about whether to do it yourself. I, too, am very busy but I always make time to detail my cars myself. I trust (almost) no one else to touch them. As others have said, Adam's Videos do a great job of demonstrating each step (and associated products) of the detailing process. FWIW, I summarized the steps (and associated products) I use for another black vehicle owner here. Depending on the condition of your Tahoe's paint, you may need to add Step 4.5 to polish with Paint Correcting Polish on an Orange Pad.
  10. Congrats! Very nice, even if I am a little biased...
  11. That should be a fun road trip. I know the area well - I grew up in RI and my wife graduated from Northport High School. (Assuming you take I-95, you'll pass right through my old "stomping grounds," just after/before you cross out of/into CT.) Having taken delivery of mine just outside Seattle and immediately driven it home to Colorado, I'm envious of your shorter drive. Mine was a good road trip, but that was a LOT of miles on the car in the first three days I owned it and I did it in November, so weather was a big concern! You're welcome! Note that much of how I detailed mine was based on recommendations I received from Dylan, after discussing options with him during a Detail Clinic at Adam's HQ last spring.
  12. Congrats on your new ride, Blackdevil! FWIW, I definitely approve of your taste in cars... I posted a summary of what I did with mine here. Looking forward to pics of yours...
  13. May I suggest that WTB/WTT and product discussion posts go in their own threads, rather than this one that's supposed to be for folks who have products they don't use to hook up other members of AF (with those products)?
  14. Lots of good advice here, JWP. FWIW, I clay, polish, and seal the headlights and tail lights (including the piano black plastic) on my 2013 and it comes out looking great.

  16. http://www.adamsforums.com/topic/20630-faq-what-kind-of-tape-should-i-use-to-mask-off-trim/ "...choose a masking tape that is low tac, designed for delicate surfaces... Avoid tapes with chemical edge additives (examples - 3M edgelock tapes, frog tape, etc) These tapes feature a chemical additive that reacts with moisture to form a barrier and prevent 'bleed' when painting." I've had good luck with 3M ScotchBlue Painter's Tape, but make sure you SKIP FrogTape and any type of Edge-Lock options.

  18. Thanks, guys! That's what I thought, but wanted to be sure, since I'm now advising friends on what to do with their vehicles...
  19. Watch Dylan's video from about the 3:30 mark - he talks about BG containing a solvent that cleans when wet. FWIW, PaintTech, I'm happy with BG and SVRT on my Shelby's matte black stripes.
