07stanggt reacted to Ricky Bobby in Incorporating Waterless Wash as a pre-treatment for Rinseless Wash
Ed, there's nothing "wrong" with what you're saying per se, I also like that you use the GDWM for rinseless washing, its really the best and safest way to do it.  If you are really looking for an efficient Rinseless wash, use distilled water when mixing, makes the solution wipe down so clean!  I use 3/4 oz per gallon of distilled when using Rinseless, I usually pre-mix the gallons, and then when I'm ready to do a rinseless wash I just throw 6-8 plush MF's in the bucket and dump 2 gallons in there and by the time I take the bucket back out to the garage the towels are nice and soaked.

Personally, since Rinseless is a concentrate, I can adjust how much "power" it has as a pre-soak.  You can't make Waterless any more concentrated than it comes since its sold as RTU.

For Rinseless pre-soaking, I use a dilution of 8:1 or 16 oz per gallon of distilled.  At QD dilution, Rinseless is 16:1, but again its really only good for light dusting and dirt cleanup.  Let me tell you, at that concentration of 8:1, it has a ton more slickness and power to break down the grime, than the RTU Waterless.

Granted my Rinseless washes are most often done in Jersey winters, so I am looking for the most effective, slickest, powerful pre-soak and concentration.  Waterless is an ok product but its really not great for breaking up much except for very light dirt, and used by a lot of guys in show season.

Waterless recently had a price reduction so it's going to be at that price going forward.  If you're really interested in doing Rinseless washes and want the safest wash possible, why not do the following:

-Buy 2 16 oz bottles of Rinseless ($31 after forum coupon), and you have 1 bottle to mix in for your "pre-soak" gallon at 8:1
-The other bottle is good for at least 9-10 rinseless washes using the concentrate
-Alternatively, you could buy the gallon of Rinseless at $45, and have enough to make 8 gallons of pre-soak, or say 6 gallons of pre-soak and 32 oz left of concentrate for Rinseless

You can also follow up with a wipe-down of the 8:1 dilution for extra gloss after drying.  Or Detail Spray, whatever tickles your fancy.

Do you use Waterless often in your current regimen or were you just looking for another use for it?  Depending on dilution, Rinseless does everything Waterless can do and more.

I'm not knocking Waterless, I'm just saying there are limits to it (bug softening, actual waterless washing on light dust/dirt with no wax additive), and each product has its own intended functions.

Oh and another tip for Rinseless washing:  Get yourself a Kwazar Venus compression sprayer.  Your hands will thank you, its so much quicker to pre-soak panels when rinseless washing.

07stanggt reacted to Team Adam's in PRICE REDUCTION: Adam's Glass Sealant & Waterless Wash
Somewhere between 5-10 full vehicle treatments. The number of windows, size of them, etc are going to cause a lot of variation. Obviously it will take far more glass sealant to treat a suburban than it will a civic.

In terms of longevity, somewhere between 200-300 miles of wet weather driving. Again here, lots of variation - how much rain you see, how often you run your wipers, etc will cause variation within that. Even here in winter (colorado) I see an easy 200 miles of wet/snow weather before it is completely broken down.

Take a look at Maui Jims.  I have three Pairs of them and are the highest quality polarized sunglasses I own.  They used a 7 layer polarization method... I think they've upgraded to an 8 or nine layer now... btw, they are manufactured in Hawaii last I checked.  They are expensive, but worth each and every penny.  Glass lenses, spring loaded hinges, scratch proof due to glass lenses, but offer polycarbonate lenses in the sport line for active wearers.  Check them out, you wont be disappointed.

07stanggt reacted to Team Adam's in Rupes mini 75 with Adams products
Where the 75e has an advantage over the PC is the overhang - the shroud of the rupes mini doesn't protrude past the edge of the plate at all, unlike the PC. Also its designed to run a small pad so its extremely balanced and operates at the correct speeds, vs the PC which can be adapted to run smaller pads, but isn't necessarily designed to do so.

The trade off is of course, the price... if you have the extra couple hundred to spend on the 75e its worth it, but keep in mind its a tool that will maybe get used on 10% of the surfaces of your car, so you have to justify the price.

To the OP - our pads actually fit just fine on the stock 75e backing plate, I've tested the combo extensively myself. One thing to keep in mind though is with the foam pads and the plastic guide ring. They seem to use a less sticky velcro on the 75e plate so I did experience some issues with the pad wanting to jump off the machine. Make sure you seat the pad very well before use. Its a non-concern with the mf pads b/c the ring isn't there and you get more positive contact.

Ok, just remember this isn't a necessity and that a lot of people that buy from Adam's detail professionally. If you don't want your car to smell like anything then you don't have to buy the product.

The people that detail for cash around here it can come in handy. I make the most money on the side by doing interiors because it's quick and easy. I use other brands of odor eliminators with scents because some people smoke, some have pets and some are just plan gross. Does it's job, makes the car smell good and the customer always comments about how it smells.

I live in NH where there is an authorized PC dealer. It tooks two weeks to get back and was under warranty so free to fix. I was in the middle of doing a paint correction when it happened so I had to buy a new one to finish the job so now I have two PCs, one dedicated to 4 inch pads one to 7 inch pads. Actually its very convienent having both.

I dont see how you can even compare a backpack blower to a MB. Sure, a backpack blower blows...but there are so many advantages to the MB. I use it to dry the dog after a bath. I use it to dry the boat after I wash it. I use it to blow out the drain line on my a/c in the house. I use it to dry the engine, rims, tires after a wash and before dressing. You can get in all the nooks and crannys with it, bend the hose around, and unless you're 7ft tall or standing on a ladder I don't know how you would dry the roof of a truck with a backpack blower. It's one of those things you will either spend the rest of your detailing life wondering if it's worth it, or you will buy it and wonder how you've gone so long without it. Buy it on a sale and you will not be sorry. Have you seen any negative comments yet, except the price? We all know you get what you pay for. I love my MB and I used to use other drying options that weren't really that great for the paint (water blade, leaf blower, driving around the block and probably picking up debris that I would then rub into the paint as I hand dried). Buy it, you won't be sorry.

I am going to use up the rest of my bottle and go back to VRT...... Tire shine is too shiney and takes too long to be sling proof. Dulls out after the first washing and I like the look after a wash or two (a little more shine than VRT)
VRT is the best!...... Especially for the look (clean and new) that I want.

07stanggt got a reaction from Ricky Bobby in do i need a machine polisher?
I have 2 PC7424XPs, one for 4 inch pads, one for 7 inch pads, but my favorite, the Flex machine I bought a couple of months ago!! Its about a third faster in time and cuts better than a PC 7424xp. Its a pain to switch pads all the time thats why I have dedicated machines to do different jobs. Although you can get 4 inch backing pads for the Flex, I find when using 4 inch pads your are usually working in tighter areas and you dont need the power as much, so the PC is fine. The PC does a great job dont get me wrong so maybe start with a PC and get used to using a machine, then step up to the Flex. The Flex takes a little more time to get used to so use what your comfortable with. I have no expierence using a Cyclo machine but I hear they are a nice machine as well.Wait till your neighbors see the results with a machine, and they will be asking you to detail their car !!!! Kinda pays for itself  :pc7424: !!!!

Best method I have found to clean pads: Lay them on clean surface, pad side up, and use your garden hose, spray water full blast at the pad and whatever product you used will fly off  the pads. When done, squirt a small amount of Dawn dishwashing liquid directley onto the pad, knead into pad so diswashing liquid soaps up, rinse under as hot of water as you can handle, repeat if needed till all product is removed from pad. Dry on a vented drying rack or equivalant, pad side down till fully dry. You should get 10 or so paint corrections per pad if cleaned properly.

This is what a Foam Gun from a hose will give you:

This is what a Foam Cannon from a Pressure Washer will get you:

I guess you need to see which is closer to your expectations when it comes to Foam.  The Pressure Washer is a great way to go if the car or truck is absolutely filthy.  The mixture in the Foam Cannon from this shot is 50% Car Shampoo, 50% Waterless Wash.

In the Foam Gun on the hose, I use 32oz. of Water with 4oz. of Car Shampoo.  The big differences between the two are such that the Cannon's Foam will stick a LOT better than the Gun's Foam.  The Gun's Foam certainly doesn't cling like the Cannon, but it does provide a nice layer of lubrication between the Wash media and the surface of the car or truck.
