Woke up to another beautiful day!!!  It rained last night, and we are expecting a bunch more that is supposed to come through, however, it has held off again!

Took a nice drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway to a little town called Little Switzerland.  Very cool place.  It has an Inn, restaurant, shops, etc there.  Up on top of a nice mountain with some great views off the back deck.  It was a bit cloudy today, so the views weren't as good as they usually are!  Blasted through a few tunnels and listened to that flat 6 wail!!!  I shot a few vids, but there is too much wind noise, I will redo them again if I can, before we leave.

A funny story:  Right before this trip, I lowered the 911.  I installed H&R Sport springs which lowers the front 1.2" and the rear 1".   I really think it 'needed' to be lowered...it had quite a wheel gap from the factory.  IMO it looks soooooooooo much better dropped down!

Well anyway, fast forward to our arrival at the cabin...I couldn't get the b!tch into the garage!  The grade was too steep, a little bit of a drop off and a lip of concrete for the garage floor pad.  Well did I hear it!  "If you didn't ruin it, we would have been able to make into the garage no problem!".  A little back story:  she had 'forbidden' me to do anything to this car.  I always 'ruin' all of the cars I have by doing things to them!  LOL.  I just can't help myself!  I have to put my stamp on them somehow!  I got the FVD exhaust by her...this one, I just couldn't!  HAHA.

So.....I had an engineering project on my hands...I had to build a bridge so I could get the car inside!  I didn't want it living outside with all the pollen, sap, etc up here!

My finished 'bridge', does what it needs to, project!  LOL!!!!

Fixed!  I got a chance to work on it today and was able to clean it up.

The rust inhibitor concept appears correct, but I am far from an expert. I will keep an eye on it going forward and see if it starts to reappear.

    First off welcome!

Have you tried using one of the machine polishes by hand?  They are a little more aggressive that Revive, but will be ok by hand.

You will probably need to scrub off the wax with APC before applying sVRT.

Rinseless washed the Dart. I washed my Dart with a gallon and one quart of water. One gallon in the bucket for the towels to soak in and one quart to presoak paint. When I finish I usually have a quart or so left in the bucket. This goes into the spray bottle for next wash.

I'm so happy Adam's came out with their version of a Rinseless wash.    I haven't bought a bottle of ONR, my previous rinseless wash favorite since then.

I would suggest distilled water instead of DS, just to be sure you are not adding any minerals to the equation.

Being in Australia I regularly have to deal with fast flashing due to the ambient heat over here, This summer I corrected several cars in 40 degree celcius ambient and I feel your pain, probably one of the steepest learning curves I've had. The heat & humidity literally wreak havoc on the rules, Here's what I've found through my experience. All I can say is thank god winter's here!
    - Decrease the size of your polishing area, sometimes I'm working 1' x 1' to prevent the polish drying on the panel before it's flashed
    - Use water instead of Detail spray and keep the pads moist to extend the flash time
    - Reduce pressure on machine
    - Arm speed will become critical, Usually I find I need to move a little quicker over the panel and sometimes do 2 passes.

Hope this was of use to you, Good Luck!

I would try some APC.  Try it diluted first, but you may have to work up to full strength.  This method will require reapplying your wax or sealant again.

For love bugs, I like to soak thin MF towels in my wash solution and lay them over the bugs.  I leave it on for about 10 minutes (time to do the wheels), then remove and clean.  They usually will come off without much rubbing.

I have a really nice customer, who happens to have a really stinkin' nice 32 Ford. The level odf detailing is amazing. He hired a new detailer and had me show him a few tips, so I didn't have to do the entire car. I think the car is too pretty not to share.
Basically we hit it with Paint Finishing polish and Brilliant Glaze, all by hand.
Under the bright halogen lights it had a lot of flaws, but we're getting there.
The engine is a ZZ430, and topped with 1963 Corvette mechanical Fuel Injection.

I moved mine into a bottle that had a tolco gold sprayer. It sprays so much better in there, and has an even coat when sprayed on the car rather than the clumpy spray in the Adams bottles.

I thought that my '41 Ford Pick Up was shiny - used a multitude of products to get what I thought was a
great shine - won awards - I was happy.
One day Glen Yates - our local distributor - offered to shine 1/2 of my back bumper, 1/2 of my fender & 1/2
    of my aluminum wheel.
It was way better - spent all the money I had on product that day & never looked back.
Retired now & detailing cars a as little business - all with Adams - lots of happy customers

Not sure if any of this clears up anything, but here it goes...

Pic 1: Here's what it looked like at 6:17pm. The rubbing/smearing you see if from me slightly rubbing it this morning (it was still a tad wet in high spots). At the time of taking this pic it was all dry and pretty sticky. (think dried on soda)

Pretty hard to pick up on camera, but at certain angles you could see it. (transparent)

    Pic 2: From different angle

Pic 3: Rubbing it pretty hard with short nap microfiber towel.

Pic 4: A finishing polish (Reflect) easily removed it. (by hand)

Here is where it looks most like the pic provided by the OP. This is the over spray part (next 4 pics). I tested it in a spot not pictured and it was not coming off with vigorous rubbing. A finishing polish (as expected) made quick work of it done by hand with a short nap microfiber towel. Obviously I way over applied it, so in reality my situation shouldn't happen at all.

Next four pictures show my attempt at removing it with IPA mixed with a rinse-less wash product...

Didn't completely remove the dripping, so it seems that a finishing polish is the best option (no surprise there). Was hard to get it pictured.

Not sure if this helps the OP as it was already stated that a finishing polish would clear it up, but even after way over applying it I didn't seem to quite get the exact results as the OP (but maybe I did).

*Pictures taken with phone. I am not a photographer. My apologies.

Just for future reference to anyone that uses QS and doesn't want the issue of overspray, I always spray QS on a foam pad then apply. I do not like the spray panel then spread with applicator method. Helps to avoid ANY issues of overspray.

Many years ago I was searching for a metal polish for my aluminum on my 32 and saw Adams Polishes on the internet. I sent an email on a Sunday afternoon with some questions and Adam answered me that afternoon! We went back forth 5 or 6 times and he sent me a sample and asked me to let him know. I did a test and even documented it on his website.

I never expected the owner to respond to an email on a Sunday. I have been hooked since and even had the pleasure of helping the man at Lingenfelter's a couple of years ago for a clinic. I have been hooked for quite a few years and have some others hooked as well. GREAT STUFF!

mc2hill reacted to Beemer in Cars and Family
When I was a kid in the '60s and '70s we always took family pictures in front of the family car.  I love going back and looking at those pictures.  I think having a car in the shot does so much to lend the photo a specific "time and place".  It's like a time machine!

I thought it might be fun to start a thread just for old family/car pictures.  Please don't just post a picture, though.  Tell us the story of the picture!  Every great picture has a story...

    I'll start:

This is my Mom and Dad in Monrovia, CA.  Probably about 1959.  Dad was picking up Mom for a date in his brand new Corvair. My Mom had agreed to go out with him because she thought he was rich thanks to that beautiful car.  (He was working at a gas station at the time.)

Grandpa is taking the picture but check out Grandma in the back.  She is not very happy (actually - that was her normal expression...).

Thankfully the relationship lasted longer than the Corvair.  The car only lasted a couple of years (a Corvair was a beautiful piece of crap) but my parents were together until my Mom died in 2001.

I will always cherish this picture.

Post one of yours and tell us the story!
