Ricky Bobby reacted to champ09 in The New Flex XFE 7 -15 150!!
Hey guys,
Why did Adam's stop selling/supporting the FLEX brand? I thought that even though they were bought out by Chevron (a Chinese company), all the manufacturing and parts were still made in Germany?
Thanks to anyone that can shed some light on this.

Ricky Bobby reacted to Rich in Tire and rubber cleaner
Yep. Used it today for the first time on the Vette. I definitely prefer it over the APC for cleaning. Works great. Rinses completely. Leaves the tires black! Good stuff. I'll be ordering a gallon now.

Ricky Bobby got a reaction from H20burycharger in Microfiber Revitalizer question
I do a full load of towels so many of mine sit for weeks in the hamper
If the stains are bad I hit them before I toss in hamper, and a spritz before throwing in. If the stains aren't bad I just leave them in hamper and spritz before throwing in the wash. I also let them fill up and soak in the wash for at least an hour or two before shutting the lid and letting the cycle run.
Works great for me

Ricky Bobby got a reaction from Odds and Ends in Stubborn polish on trim
Darryl IMO it should be called Tire & Trim Cleaner since those are really the intended uses and would help clarify - Tire & Rubber IMO is a bit redundant because besides rubber hoses and such there aren't many other rubber surfaces on a vehicle to clean (rubber door seals?) -

Ricky Bobby got a reaction from mc2hill in H2O Guard and Gloss
Your post is spot on - people can't think of it as a wipe on wipe off sealant applied like detail spray (although there are products on the market from other brands that are just that)
If you spend more time on the application process it makes the last removal wipe so much easier, with your damp towel when you are spreading on the surface you want to go over the panel about 3-4 passes or so so you wipe it in till its basically disappeared and you cant see anything left on the surface and the surface water is gone as well. Then take the dry towel and do the final wipedown and it should finish streak free.
The troubles and streaking IMO come from not working it in enough with the dry towel and going to the final wipe step too quickly.

Ricky Bobby got a reaction from red94chev in Help With VRT
You'll find that if its overapplied and you give it a wipedown with Waterless, diluted Rinseless etc after the first rain or first wash you'll still have the fresh new trim look and it won't do it anymore going forward and stay looking black for a month or two - Less is more with dressing in general, there is only so much product a piece of trim can absorb -
I probably use maybe 1/2 oz total to do all 4 of my X5 tires and when needed I probably use a total of 1/4 oz to do my trim - and I do NOT need to do my trim each time I dress my tires since it really lasts a while on plastic
As well, clean your foam block applicators often, especially if you are using them on tires as well as trim - there is a black gunk that the blocks pull out of the tires when applying the dressing and it is basically some dead rubber off your tires (even if they are cleaned before dressing) - if you go and try to apply dressing to trim with a decently soiled applicator for tires that could definitely contribute to product running
Alternatively you could use separate tire and trim applicators and the trim applicator will need cleaning less often.

Ricky Bobby reacted to buffalobob920 in New Waterless Wash????
What I did is mix rinseless with waterless in a 16 oz bottle 2oz of rinseless and the rest waterless works and looks fine (it actually looks like the new waterless)

Ricky Bobby got a reaction from Rich in About the new paste wax
It doesn't really dry out as fast as the previous formula (one of the biggest complaints) which is why its so easy to apply and remove - I have let it set up for 15 mins and even left it a few hours and it really looks the same on the surface, removes like butter.

Ricky Bobby got a reaction from LT1xL82 in Maintaining Xzilon on interior
And its nothing more than a paint sealant for the outside and a UV protectant for the inside IMO - I'm glad you didn't overpay, but treat it as that and maintain with your regular detailing products is my opinion - You still want to clay bar your vehicle and seal it every 3-6 months to protect from contaminants and UV exposure - on the inside I would use the interior cleaner and Leather Conditioner every 2 months and do wipedowns in between with Interior
The way the brand name is thrown around it just implies its something special and unless I see chemical proof that it is, I would treat it like a typical wax/sealant job on the outside and a UV protectant on the inside.
I have a large problem with anything that comes up as being sold at car dealerships as a POS product when you are in the F&I dept signing the paperwork - and the legitimacy of said product being nothing more than snake oil compared to the Meg's wax or Armor All you get on the shelf at Wally World.

Thanks for the info Ricky Bobby. I'm pretty new to this whole realm of caring for my car the way that I'm thinking of doing it. I've purchased grit guards and am going to employ the 2 bucket wash method as well as use I've been using a foam gun.

Ricky Bobby got a reaction from ledger64 in 32oz Sprayers - How you liking them?
Personally I'd use your Tolco's on those 32oz bottles if you have them - I've used both types of sprayers although they arent bad the Tolco's work better IMO

Yep I keep a bottle of Detail Spray in the house, works great on kitchen wipedowns and for dusting furniture

Ricky Bobby reacted to LT1xL82 in Power Washer for the Cars? Hummm...
40* tip works for me also!
Many gas pressure washers have a regulator to turn down the pressure. Another approach (maybe depending on the type of un-loader the unit uses) is to use a larger orifice nozzle to reduce pressure.

Ricky Bobby reacted to suke in Power Washer for the Cars? Hummm...
I use something similar every single time I wash. I use the 40* white nozzle everytime. I get close if need be, but be smart about it.....naturally. Don't do it near chipped or failing clear, or you'll be in a world of hurt. Does great on my wheels. I barely need to touch them after and it cleans up the white letters on my wheels almost instantly.
