chevytruckjsm reacted to Dan@Adams in #88 Camaro Alex Bowman Car Care Kit Available Now!
I'm sure some of you may have watched the NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on TV yesterday, and saw the big Adam's Polishes "A-logo" displayed on Alex Bowman's #88 Chevy Camaro from Hendrick Motorsports! It amazes me how much this company has grown to see something like this, and I am very proud to be part of it! Unfortunately he had a DNF due to being involved in a multi-car pile up, but all drivers involved are ok! We can't wait to see Alex back out on the track again.

We also launched a new collaboration kit yesterday, available exclusively on ChevyGoods.com

You can find the kit at the following link: Number 88 Camaro Car Care Kit by Adam's Polishes

This kit must be picked up at your local participating Chevrolet dealership, as they do not offer shipping at this time. Discount codes also appear to be deactivated for this kit, but it's a very nice price at $58.00, as it is over $80 in retail value!

Thanks for looking and keep on shining!

Hey Rich, the difference between this forum and other forums that you are more familiar with, is that this one is paid for by Adam's Polishes.  Most other forums have sponsoring vendors, sponsoring memberships, sell advertising space, have embedded advertisements, etc.

I am sure you can see that it is a reasonable business decision for Adam's to not allow members to promote or link competitor's products on their forum.

I was the one who locked your thread. It ran its course and there was nothing more to say. It was getting personal and aggressive towards some other members.  That's the way this forum is run. If anyone has something to contribute, good or bad, then fine.  But when others start the name calling or bashing then one of us will step in and lock it up.  Your point was appreciated, but the original thread was done.

We're all big boys and girls here.  Some can't behave like it though.  And when that happens we step in.  Don't think it's something we enjoy doing or do because we don't happen to agree with you or because you didn't like a product.  We welcome all opinions.  I explained that to you in the last post in the original thread.

And this thread should be locked too.  It too has run its course.

Every car is different, every panel is different. There is no way to show how to correct every specific different type of swirl, defect, imperfection, etc on a panel. I started out using Adam's videos and I don't seem to have any issues at all. What your asking for is unrealistic, the video would be 100 hours long and it wouldn't even cover half of the different issues you'll run into. YOU need to take the different knowledge and recommendations from the videos and YOU need to piece them together and make them work on the panels YOU have to work with. If you want to pay someone to come hold your hand through an entire detail and paint correction then do that but no one is going to do it for free, especially with this kind of attitude.

This is the equivalent of going to college, getting a job and expecting the college to have taught you every issue you will run into and need to fix. No... NO! They teach you the basics and some advanced stuff and YOU have to put it together.

Just my $0.02 but if I were a Mod this would be a none issue and it would just be gone along with the OP'er.

Again, I started off using Adam's and learning from the videos and I've never had one issue. However I also believe in the phase "Once you've stopped learning, its time to retire." No one should ever stop learning. You should learn something new every single day of your life.

While I understand your frustration, you cannot hold Adam's videos responsible for YOUR results (good or bad) because in the end YOU are the one doing the work. YOU have to check after each pass and YOU are the only one that can determine if you can move on to the next panel or not. There are too many other videos and tutorials online for you to get advice from. I have watched at least 4 other people do paint correction on YouTube and they ALL use different techniques. It would be like me trying to smoke a brisket and telling people to not follow a certain cook's recipe because mine came out different than what they said it would be.

You also have to consider the countless variables involved in paint correction; paint condition, lighting, polisher, pads, humidity, temperature, technique, time, experience, the list goes on! Experience is probably the biggest variable of them all. you said it yourself that you are a noob. Why would you expect perfect results the first time?

    I like the ideas of:
Tips, Tricks, and Question and Answer, i.e. what's the best way to wash and protect matte paint. Explanations of Specific Products, i.e. why we make it and how you use it  But less the third option about the cars themselves.

chevytruckjsm reacted to Ricky Bobby in Using soap for clay lube- Bad for clay?
To put this thread back on topic....

With the point I made on the last page and to answer the OP's question again, if using a pH neutral, gentle Car Shampoo like Adam's, NO it is not bad for the clay, and NO it will not be "too slick to clay" it will work and decontaminate just fine.  Many professional detailers do so (Larry Kosilla was mentioned earlier).  If you are finished washing the car and have a clean bucket of suds go to town before you give it a final rinse and dry, and you can go right into polishing.

This is less about a "which product works is my favorite" thread, which is what it has become, and more about a "which process is more efficient" for those of us who detail for dollars either on the side or professionally.  Personally I clay after my wash and before I dry, and I don't personally use Detail Spray.  If you like to, that is perfectly fine.  I save it for wipedowns.

Again use what you like and use it often. Many of us would rather save the Detail Spray for wipedowns only, but if you like to clay with it, thats great!  As that is what is in the Adam's regimen, however, we do like to experiment and share ideas on this forum, so lets do so politely and with respect to the guys paying for the board.

chevytruckjsm reacted to Ricky Bobby in Using same Rinseless multiple days/How many cars on one bucket?
Rich, all good points and things I would have told you in this thread.

HOWEVER, I do not recommend storing for weeks/months, even if the bucket is sealed and you're using distilled. the solution will keep for a week or two at best before it starts to smell "musty", even when mixed with distilled.  Dylan said its something to do with the walls of the bucket which is why it will go bad even if stored with no towels in it and sealed.  The product will physically work but it will not be pleasant smell.

This is what I would do.  Go to Walmart or the local store and get a few gallons of distilled (my Shop Rite has 10 for $10 for example), put 1/2 oz of Rinseless in each gallon, and keep them capped and in your basement.  The solution stores perfectly great in the gallon containers of water.

You should be able to get about a week in the sealed bucket before needing to dump it.  Use the Garry Dean method using multiple towels and not introducing a dirty towel to a clean bucket of solution, it will be most efficient for you.  I'm pretty much spot on in using 1 gallon to wash 2 cars.  So if you're washing every day or every other day, you should be able to go through about 2 gallons per week max.  When the solution gets low in your bucket, just add another gallon once a week.  By the time it would go bad, you'd have used it anyway.

This is more efficient than filling the bucket up with 4 gallons of water and storing it and hoping that it doesnt go bad before you use it.

Just my opinion and the process I'd use, your methods may vary.

The issue is that if you wanted to avoid overspray drying up in places you should have been spraying on an applicator and applying directly to the surface that way.  Its your application method, not the product's fault.  Quick sealant is designed to dry hard and bond to paint which is why is recommended to remove right away.  If you spray the surface its going to overspray and if you know you have a tight area hard to reach by hand why would you spray the bumper with it in the first place if you can't wipe all areas down.

Dude... Get a grip. Why so defensive? Everyone is simply asking any and all questions to ensure no stone is left unturned. Folks don't know your background and so the best approach is to assume nothing and try to identity every possible scenario.

Your attitude towards people just trying to help is ridiculous. And to be clear... I AM intentionaly calling your behavior ridiculous.

Without seeing up close and in person I would second this answer. Don't know where this car resides but around here in PA the stuff has been bad. Would be easy to miss in a spot that tight, even with the most careful detailing. rusman, your frustration is understandable with such a wonderful car. However, you came here for help and for some reason you have taken any question asked too personally. You are not being interrogated for murder here. However, if you want help from folks here you might have to answer a few questions. The only fact we have is that you sprayed the product in that area. You seem to be assuming that because you spayed it that it is an absolute certainty that the product alone is to blame. I think lax is on the right track. If not pollen, something else that has mixed with product.
I hope you get to the bottom of it. I think there is more to it than just overspray.

Kazzle I'm interested as well.  and to OP you really have quite the sour puss attitude considering a member is trying to replicate what happened to your panel and therefore technically be able to help everyone troubleshoot better.  If you don't want to chime in on the problem thread you started anymore then don't do so, personally I'm subscribed to see the results of the over-application test that BKazzle is running.

Rusty, I don't think anyone is meaning to imply you aren't being truthful... they're simply asking "are you sure that _________" questions to eliminate variables that maybe weren't considered. As I said on the phone with you we have to get to the bottom of what caused it to figure out a solution. If thousands of people have no issue, but 1 person does asking questions is where we'll identify that variable.

No one is trying to make you feel unwanted or dismissing the issue, quite the opposite actually, they're trying to help.

Quality is no longer a comparable measure; it's an expectation, a requirement for a business to thrive.

This is where Adams excels. Your products are easy to use, they work as expected, and they perform by exceeding expectations.

im a friend, a father, a husband. My time is valued yet spread thin at times. Life is full of balance and measure. And the little time I choose to spend providing care to the cars I own is backed by Adams. Your products allow ease of use with incredible results. Sprays, waxes, sealants, glossifiers, etc. they all make the experience wonderful. I'm excited to continue using your products.
