wely324 reacted to Tyler@Adams in H2O G&G and Sidekick
Ed,
The "between details" drying method is just a fast way to dry your car off effectively. Detail spraying the whole vehicle adds lubrication so when you go to wipe it off, there is detail on the vehicle already so you won't scratch it as much as you would without the detail spray.
If you want to use H2O as your drying method then I would do that. In fact, here is how I dry my BLACK car off all the time. Once I'm done washing, I will H2O the whole vehicle and then I would take my sidekick and blow all the cracks and possible dirt could come out, on a black car you can't see the dirt very well so I would take precaution in wiping off the rest of the vehicle after this point. I now spray one panel with detail spray and wipe it off in the same direction, from left to right, with one side. Then, I flip the towel over and wipe off any detail spray that I missed. This method I have found is the safest method I have used drying and trust me, I know when my car gets scratched and I haven't had problems in months with this method so give it a shot and let me know how that works for you!

wely324 got a reaction from Tyler@Adams in RAM 1500 - new car detail
Detailed a new Ram 1500 that my friend just picked up a few weeks ago.
Started with a strip wash with Car Shampoo and APC. APC was also used to clean the wheel wells, tires, and trim. Deep wheel cleaner on the wheels. I used an Adam's older gray clay bar to clay the vehicle with Detail Spray.
We then washed the car again, rinsed, and dried with Adam's Great White drying towel. Paint was then protected via sealant.
SVRT on tires and trim.
Glass Cleaner and Glass sealant on windows.
Metal polish #2 on chrome wheels and trim.
Liquid Paint Sealant on wheels.
Undercarriage spray on wheel wells.
Buffing with a borderless gray towel

wely324 got a reaction from PT3 in Is it worth it?
A buddy of mine recently picked up a Dodge 1500 in a silver gray metallic, and when he told me he brought it to the car wash the other day I was like no-no. So I offered to help him out detail his new ride to give it some durable protection as I enjoy detailing and just have to much product that needs to be used LOL
So my question is it worth it to actually polish it? From what I hear the dodge paint is hard and it is a lighter color metallic and from a quick glance over the paint, it looked to be in good condition with minimal to no visible marring or swirls in the sun. I'm sure under closer inspection it would show that some correction be needed. But
The problem is I just don't think my buddy will actually properly wash it over time or as well as someone who spends hours detailing their car on the weekends and I don't want to spend all this extra time if he won't notice or care for a corrected paint surface.
So should I just skip polishing and go straight to glaze then sealant? My only concern is after washing the car, I'd like to clay it. I will have to be extra careful to not introduce any marring.

wely324 got a reaction from PT3 in New to Cyclo - New black truck...?
You really can't do any serious damage with a cyclo as it is a DA polisher with no forced rotation. Try a small area of your car first with finishing polish and a finishing pad and watch some how-to videos and some research on technique and I bet you'll find out it isn't as hard as you think.

I wouldn't waste my time on a truck if he is going to run it in car washes.mat least convert him over to the touchless wash lol. I have successfully got a coworker who has not washed his last truck in over 13 years to start doing Rinsless washes on his new truck once a week. It takes him 15 mins a week and 3 bucks in distilled water. Everyone has 15 mins and 3 bucks laying around every week.

wely324 reacted to Ricky Bobby in Working with Paint Protection Film...?
Follow the manufacturer's instructions - if its Xpel Ultimate, I wouldn't be polishing the film - Just keep it clean and sealed, since it self heals.
Yes Porsche black is soft, especially non-metallic black. Have fun washing every 2 hours LOL
Since you also have the wallet for the PPF - invest the $360 in the Master Blaster, like I told you in the last thread - then you can blowdry the car and only use single or double softs for final wipes

wely324 got a reaction from PT3 in Rules for black
Porsche paint tends to be on the softer side and with it being black try not to touch it, with anything!
...in all seriousness, use a master blaster or leaf blower to dry the car and then go back with a towel. I then use detail spray with a GWDT to finish up the drying. And try not to touch it with detail spray or any other chemicals in between washes. If it is dirty leave it be or go 2 bucket. My black Macan has a glass coating, and although it still looks so glossy, when the sun comes out the swirls become very noticeable and it is only about 1.5 years old. The car did get washed mid-winter at the dealership, which I'm sure added to the majority of the scratches there. Next time I do an after hours drop off, I'm leaving a note with my keys, "Do Not Wash, and Thank you!"

wely324 reacted to Tyler@Adams in Hello from a New Adam's Polishes Employee
Hello everyone, super stoked to start answering questions and help everyone out on the forums. I live here in Colorado, and work at the headquarters. I'm a freak about cars and especially detailing! I detail cars on the side of working in the shipping department of the headquarters, so I very well could have shipped your order. I touch and use our products everyday so I should be able to answer most everyones questions and the ones I don't, I'll be more than happy to be able to learn. I can't wait to see what everyone has to say! I have been reading the forums and have been learning a lot already, but I'm excited to jump on here and stay up to date with the detailing community and of course, do some giveaways and have some fun!!
Lets see everyone's vehicles! So why not start it off with a little fun with a CONTEST? Comment a picture of your vehicles and I will choose one random winner that will receive a FREE gallon of a product of your choice! Contest ends at 11:00 am Friday MST! Good Luck!

Why can't he ask here? He has a Cyclo, a product not made by Adam's but they do sell them, and is curious if anyone has had experience with both a Cyclo and a G15 to compare them??? Just cause the G15 is not sold through the Adam's website and is a competitor's product, it can't be discussed?

wely324 reacted to TheWolf in Adam's Polishes New Foam Cannon!
In a word...IMPRESSED!
I have been using the MTM Foam Cannon for the last two years, and I use it for every wash, so I am very familiar with how it performs. Well, one trigger pull of the New Adam's Foam Cannon and my eyes bugged out. This thing lays down some seriously thick foam!
The foam out of this cannon has a lot of air in it, so it has more hang time than my previous cannon. The foam out of the MTM is wetter, and runs off quicker. And I experimented with every possible combination of shampoo and settings on the MTM, but the foam was never shaving-cream-thick like this new cannon.
You can see it nearly fills the side vents on the Raptor.
The thicker foam hangs longer, giving you more time get the surface cleaned with your wash media.
And no, this photo is not the hood, it is the side of the door, with the photo taken looking up. You can see the foam is about a half-inch thick.
Laying down one coat on the tailgate, and you can see how thick it is on the emblem.
For reference, I am running the foam cannon with an electric pressure washer rated at 2.1 gpm and 1900 psi.
My advice, order one. Now.
If you already have another foam cannon, give it to someone you don't like, and get the Adam's Foam Cannon.

Next time try hitting the tires with APC to do the brunt of the work. Then follow up with a few passes of tire & rubber cleaner. It will save you a lot more product.

You need a foaming tip for that. Kwazar sells one for their Venus bottles.
Never hurts to try though. Put some shampoo in and do your own testing and let us know.
