When this happens to me I just use a spray on wax...any will do the trick, spray the area and it will moisten it right up for easy removal.

ocdrifter reacted to shane@detailedreflections in Heavy Correcting Compound - Initial Thoughts
So I got the chance to play with the heavy correcting compound today. The whole car didn't really warrant the heavy compound, but there were some spots and I was eager to play.

Given where they were, it was also a chance to test the real power of the Rupes Nano since I have limited time using the tool.

Anyway...on with it. The combination of the heavy compound and the nano with a blue pad on it was pretty powerful. Quite honestly, it was better than I anticipated for the combination. The heavy compound made rather quick work of some heavy scratches and improved the appearance quite a bit. After I did the correcting with the compound and the Nano, I just did a quick correcting polish and finishing polish as I did the rest of the car with the bigger polishers. The goal for this car was to improve it and not perfection. What that translates to is a pass of correcting and a pass of finishing and it improves as much as it can. I'll spend a little time working heavy spots, but it's not the full on flawless look and working of the polish that a full on correction gets. The reason it wasn't looking for perfection is it's an older car with 100k+ on it and they've been some hard miles. The car lasted the driver through college and into early married life. The car was never given much thought in the way of protection and cleanliness.

All in all, I think the heavy compound will be a great tool in the box and could be a starting point for those jobs where you're looking to improve and trying to do so in reasonable time.

The pics aren't great, but hopefully you can get a feel for the power and there wasn't a great time investment into it.

Sorry Joe, No can do! Besides the fact that I can't sell or trade from the Forum, I'm almost out of my 1st tub of Americana Wax and I've got 3 more cars to detail within the next week before Xmas.  Sorry. Hope we're still friends!   LOL

While shopping for a used truck, my wife saw a Black 2012 Ram 2500 diesel crew cab. She loved it, I love everything except the color. Not because I don't like black vehicles, I think they look great when clean, but this truck had obviously taken through automatic car washes often. It was swirled up really bad, and for someone who is a little OCD about their vehicles it wouldn't be good to own it. We ended up buying it and I tried lots of auto store products to try and clean up the finish. Clay bars, waxes, etc always to my complete dissatisfaction. I began shopping for a brand new truck in a different color (silver, white,) but was looking to take at least a 10k hit on the deal.
A friend of mine has a black vehicle and it always looks flawless. He recommended Adams Polishes to me. One phone call to an extremely knowledgeable and helpful gentleman, and a box of products were on the way. A few days later a box arrived containing a polisher, pads, correcting polish, finishing polish, sealer, detailer, cloths, etc and I went to work. I watched Adams how-to videos, and went to work. Wash, clay bar, polish, and seal and after 6 hours, the paint looked AMAZING! There were some pretty deep scratches in the paint in places and about 95% are completely gone, with only the deepest ones still visible but just barely. I was completely blown away on how well each product worked. This truck is big, I took my time and really actually enjoyed the process seeing this truck go from something I wasn't really happy with and ready to sell, to a vehicle that looks better than new.
Now I make excuses to walk out to the garage and run the back of my hand across the glossy, smooth finish. I can't express how happy I am with Adams Products! Since the comeback of the Rams finish, I've bought a complete kit for my son to turn him loose on his black WRX. (He's going to love his Christmas present).

THANK YOU ADAMS POLISHES! Your products and people are fantastic! You saved me $10,000!!!

Have the old brush, it's not bad but it's not my go to. The new one looks like it wouldn't be my go to either.

That's the one I use, I know not everyone likes the same stuff and probably a lot of people love Adam's brush. But IMHO a 2nd brush similar to the pic would be SWEET! I've used about 8 different tire brushes and this one's the best and it's not even close.

I stripped, clayed, and sealed last week, so this week was the wash and HGG application. It's also been a really long time since I really pampered the trim and glass, so I took care of that. The following is my process, and the products used.

    Wheel Cleaner
Tire and Rubber Cleaner on tires and rubber trim
    Wash with CWS
Dry with HGG (paint and wheels)

Under Carriage Cleaner in wheel wells
Waterless Wash in all door jambs
SVRT on ALL trim, cowl, roof racks, running boards (makes them super slippery so it's a good thing I  don't really use them), and etc
    Tire Shine
Glass Cleaner on all glass, inside and out
Glass Sealant on windshield and rear window
    Waterless Wash final wipe down

    Enjoy!

Hey guys! Just wanted to share some of my interior work from this weekend. I did this as a gift to my neighbor, who's been having a rough time lately. It also gave me an opportunity to experiment with cleaning techniques. I have a nice arsenal of Adams products but don't have any heavy equipment, like a steam machine or extractor. So this was all done by hand. I spent about 2 hours on just the interior. It was heavily soiled with layers of dust, pet hair, and food crumbs. I could have spent another 2 hours, making the interior closer to perfect. Didn't spend much time on the seats or leather & vinyl conditioning. Curious how you all handle the really dirty interiors. I have to say, I was really impressed with the carpet upholstery cleaner. One technique I thought of using but didn't approach was using the sidekick blaster to blow out the seat mounts and seat crevices & stuff. Enjoy the before and after photos. Be as harsh as you want. I have thick skin.

ocdrifter reacted to csikx in Is there a consensus on the best pressure washer for Adam's Foam cannon?
There isn't going to be a "best" pressure washer.  That's like asking what car does Adam's products work on best.  Anything inside the recommended range will work just fine.  With that said, a large amount of at home detailers use the Greenworks 1600 pressure washer from Lowe's.  It's $99 and can be had on sale for $89 or $79.  I hope this helps.

After buying my Mustang, I took the plunge and invested in some car care products from Adam's and the rest is history! Now I'm slowly stockpiling and my interest in detailing and best practices is growing.

From watching the videos, reading the forums, and using the products... I have to say I truly admire Adam's and how they do business! And it looks like I'm not alone!

I used to dry my old Ford Raptor with two towels (sometimes one). They work better when they're damp. And I'd just let it get full and then ring it out. Then repeat until I was done.

Now I don't towel dry. Instead I blow dry with a MBR. Worth the investment if you're in the market.

Not sure if you are referring to the Great White Drying Towel or the waterless wash waffle weave towels.

I've only used the GWDT and have found that to fully dry my Scion Tc it takes 1 towel. I do use detail spray as a drying aid and that helps me limit it to 1 towel, otherwise I feel like I would probably use about 1.5. Hope this helps.  As I am sure others will say, if you pool rinse it will take less, etc.

Pool/sheet rinsing will DEFINITELY add to the drying "power" of your towels. By doing so, I can pretty much dry two vehicles (Optima, Xterra) with one GWDT, allowing it dry some between washes, and it still soaks up the water. Must admit, it would be handy to have two, but I've done well with just the one. Bottom line...buy it!

The blue waterless wash towels are perfect for all these uses...

They are great towels for Waterless and Rinseless Washes.  They are all I use to dry after a Rinseless Wash, and I also use them with IPA wipedowns and for removing clay residue.

I use an old one I bought years ago, its seen better days. It has threads pulled up causing bunching, but it still works pretty well for drying. I do need to constantly ring it out when using it though. And it does not get all the water off first pass. I usually will make a quick pass and get the majority of the water off, then make a second pass and get all the residual moisture off. Towel is old, so it may not be as effective as it once was.

On a side note, I have just purchased 4 MF plush towels and starting to use those as my drying towels(on a recommendation from someone that details more than me), and so far so good. Its only been one use, and the towels are still new. So a few more washes before I decide if its the technique I want to start using.

Thanks again.....I do like the Mystery Boxes I hope they come around soon again. I'm like a little kid at Christmas.
