I'd like to recommend that stickers be placed in an envelope or something sturdy to protect them. This isn't the first order that I got where the stickers were just randomly tossed about the box and they came bent and damaged. I understand packing boxes can be time consuming and time is money but a little more care when packing stickers could avoid disappointment when a customer opens a package.

Sorry, not sure where this question would go but does anyone know when Adam's had these 16 oz versions of their compounds and polishes? Was it a short run? I can't recall seeing them on the website any time recent ...

So I used Waterless Wash and a Clay Mitt this weekend with very good success. I got the mitt very wet with the WW and then sprayed 2'x2' sections at a time with the WW. With very little pressure, I was able to effectively clay the car.  I found the mitt gliding nicely over the vehicle and I could feel the containments being lifted off. The first few passes were rough but the more I passed, the smoother it got. I also didn't notice the mitt laying down any extra marks in the paint. I did end up passing over the car with an SK (that was my plan all a long) but I didn't see the mitt marring the paint.

I can't say WW worked any better or worse than DS but WW is cheaper than DS and if I dilute RW it will be even cheaper, I think WW/RW will be my go to for claying for now on.

Here's a before and after of a bird bomb that I was working on this weekend using the above process. The bomb etched the clear coat pretty bad. It's not 100% gone as I would have needed to wet sand the area but it's 90% gone and really can't be seen unless you are looking for it.

    Process:
    Cleaned with Ultra Foam Shampoo
Dried with a Great White Drying Towel
Clayed with a Mitt and Waterless Wash
Heavy Cutting Compound on a Microfiber Pad
Cutting Compound on a Foam Pad
Finishing Polish on a Foam Pad

I’m not sure if all of you saw the raffle that was posted on Instagram. But it was for a limited bottle for a couple who is getting married. Looks like 3 bottles were made and they raffled one of them off. I woke up this morning to find out I was chosen ? pretty excited because I never win anything lol

I believe Adam's recommends 3-4 oz of Car Shampoo for a 5gl bucket. Watch about 1 minute into the video and you'll see how much they put on the pad and then more into the Foam Gun.

So I have been sitting on this info for about 8 months at this point because I didnt want to jinx the whole process but all the major hurdles have been finally cleared and things can get going.

I am sadly going to be tearing down my current garage...its a sad day I know, and having to lose the building is not something I wanted to do. Sadly thou several engineers agreed that it was not financially wise to attempt to save it. It was just too far gone. So very soon it will be time to say good bye to the current garage, and say hello to what the attached plans show is my new garage and workshop area.

We are looking at overall about 3-4 months total time and yes I will take photos all along the way. Some design points and things to note:
Building is going to be 70*40 overall with 13ft interior ceiling height and clearspanned aside from the 1 shear wall that you see separating the "barn" from the wood shop.
Flooring was designed to handle car lifts anywhere I want to put them, so yes its overbuilt for normal, but not knowing exactly where I wanted things yet this made the most sense.
Currently being built as cold storage with power to be added later,
water is in debate due to potentially needing to dig another well, and the work to connect to the current septic system.

Had to finally share the exciting news now that I have the engineered stamped plans, closed on financing, AND signed the building permit application.

I agree that when there’s always a sale, there’s never a sale. But the point of the thread was that a while back, a 16 ounce product was $29.99 minus any discounts. Then it went to 8 ounces of product for $19.99 minus discounts. They effectively cut their costs and raised their profit margins by charging the end user more per ounce.

This happens all the time in grocery stores and people get upset. It happens here, and we are thankful for it it seems and make excuses for why it’s okay. Regardless of professional or hobbyist, the only winners here are Adams and their profit dollars on the balance sheet. Quite a marketing scheme to increase profitability without really doing anything.

That and planned obsolescence of products. There’s always the “next version.” Development is crucial. The life cycle of an Adam’s product is becoming shorter and shorter, and seemingly by design.

Their products work, and they work well. But they are not the only game in town. We all value our dollars and experiences differently and have to weigh many factors in our purchasing decisions. It’s just unfortunate to see costs and margins being driven up without a benefit to the consumer.

I get it, Adam's products come with a premium price tag, but there's a lot of other brands priced similarly (for consumers).  I won't mention them by name here, but you can search Amazon and do your own comparisons.

One thing I'll note (from a amateur/weekend warrior/consumer point of view), is that Adam's provides some additional value to the novice by making there product line simple to navigate. For example, color coding polishes to pads, product specific video tutorials, and providing this forum, allowing customers to share knowledge and product experiences, etc...

Also, many of their products are made in the USA (not sure where others are made), and they seem to almost always offer a sale or promo of some sort...

That said, I do get that a professional wouldn't be able to sustain paying retail (even at sale prices) when they buy and use the product in large quantities.  There's only so much one will pay for a car wash, no matter how good it is.

Yeah, I'm no professional but I've definitely looked elsewhere for a lot of products.  I think the most effective products Adam's sells are their cleaners (Soaps, TRC, APC, RW, etc) and towels (But pricey)....but for LSPs, Polishes, Pads, etc. I have moved to other brands.  As the owner of quite a few rides, I burn through detailing supplies about as fast as a small detailer, haha.

I can't help feeling like Adam's is almost trying to be the Apple of the detailing industry. The socially seen "cool" brand, the Instagram pic brand.  They're getting a little high off the ground, need to settle down, have a big drawing board meeting and read these forums.  It can only do them good.  The Best companies and business in the world are the companies that pay attention to Forums, Social Media, and Retail locations and listen to what customers are saying.

I have wondered this exact same thing! If we can make washer fluid with GC. One thing I can say for sure, if your running sealant and using boost in addition, the windshield cleans very easily with just water in the washer tank so having a washer fluid isnt really needed. Just some good ol water, then you dont have to worry about decreasing the life of the sealant

MikeSoFlo reacted to shane@detailedreflections in When did Adam's have 16 oz bottles of compound and polish?
It has become clear to me why more pro level detailers don’t use Adam’s Polishes. It’s become increasingly difficult to keep them on our shelves in a cost effective manner.

I am aware everyone here is heavily pro-Adams. And their products work well for the consumer. But there’s a whole world of products out there, and some even work better. The pricing here was what lead to that discovery for us.

    Ditto!

I recently bought a 32oz bottle of highly regarded compound for $1.11 an ounce while Adam's heavy compound is $2.50 per ounce.

When you're detailing quite a few cars an 8oz bottle doesn't go very far. If you're an enthusiast I can understand. I asked a while back about bigger bottles and they mentioned the "pro-line" was supposed to be out around April. I guess that never happened.
