stalebreadjr reacted to My Jeep Story in UV Ceramic Wheel Coating Application Video AT NIGHT (to show off how well the UV additive works)
    Hey all,

I hope everyone has been doing well and staying safe for the past few months! I've been taking the time to work hard on video content for my channel and I've made a few posts using Adams products. I recently purchased a new set of five wheels for my Jeep and took the liberty of using Adams Polishes UV Ceramic Wheel Coating and made a video going over the details, unboxing it, and applying it both in the daytime and at night to really show off how well the UV additive works to show where the coating has been applied. I'll be honest, the results on camera look 10X better than I could have imagined! I'm sure there may be other videos or writeups, but I put mine out there for anyone looking for more content.

I really do appreciate any feedback or criticism if anyone has it. Otherwise, if you have the time and were able to watch it, I can't thank you enough! 😁

UPDATE:   So I used the Odor Bomb as per instructions. Placed it in the truck yesterday evening, and removed it this morning. I left it in the truck for approximately 15 hours. After removing the container and venting the truck for about 30 minutes I got inside and closed the doors. I have to say I am impressed with the results. The dog smell was gone. The interior smell was clean. Hard to explain. Not like it was masking the odor, just "new" spelling.

The real test will be as it gets hotter and more humid here in NC. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

    UPDATE: 20th Day.....

So-far-so-good! The higher heat and humidity we get in the summer is usually the real test for this "wet dog" smell. I still do not notice any diminished results of the Odor Bomb.

Graphene Detail Spray™ is modeled after our most iconic and versatile product, Adam’s Detail Spray! Simply spray and wipe for a streak free, brilliant finish which now also provides additional slickness, gloss, depth of color and relentless water beading all its own.
Due to the unique nature of graphene-oxide, we are able to formulate the same resins contained in our Graphene Ceramic Coating™ and Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating™ directly into water-based systems, such as our Adam’s Detail Spray! This added functionality allows Graphene Detail Spray™ to universally extend the life of any of our waxes, sealants and even coatings or be utilized as its own form of stand-alone protection. Unlike Adam's CS3, Graphene Detail Spray™ is designed to work best on a clean, freshly washed surface and is not intended to act as a type of waterless wash.

I follow the same process with one exception, I have a separate short bucket for the wheels and tires and the wheel mitt & woolies.  I've found that keeping the wheel and exhaust components completely separate from body products prevents me from doing things that would be considered less than intelligent a 3rd time...

My cart is set up where the bottom shelf is only for the wheels, tires and exhaust areas.  Even the hose sliders for the tires stay on the bottom shelf.  It also makes it easier to grab the items as I roll around the vehicle on my seat.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, if washing outside I always wash the wheels & under fenders first before even wetting the car down.
Once wheels are done I dump the water and get fresh mitt & water then proceed washing the car.

I washed the wife's daily yesterday on the driveway, in direct sun with the temp right at 90, with little to no water spotting. Oldest daughter gets married this afternoon, car needs to look its best! The shade on the driveway in the pictures wasn't there until I was done. I pulled it there to Boost the wheels and plastic trim, apply Tire Armor to the tires, and polish the exhaust tips.

    Rinse the car down
Foam with Foam Cannon. or Foam Gun - leave the foam on the vehicle
Two bucket wash with your choice of Adam's PH neutral Car Shampoos - do not rinse until completely done washing, let the soap dry on the paint
    Rinse entire vehicle
I then rinse with Reverse Osmosis filtered water. The RO filtered water has almost no minerals left in it and if it dries on its own, drys almost completely clear with no spotting.
    Dry with an Air Cannon
Wipe down any remaining soap residue with Waterless wash, or apply H2O Guard & Gloss using the Dry Method

I have friends and acquaintances that constantly profess their specialty car will never see water. They do waterless/rinseless washes only. Why?  I shall never know. If you drive your car, nothing, and I do mean nothing, beats a good soapy bath. I’m a huge fan of rinseless washing and do them all the time, but when the time calls for it, you can’t beat a good bucket wash. Sorry.  If you drive your car, it will get grime and debris in the nooks and crannies, and the pours of the paint that nothing else will quite get clean like soap and water.  I have always wished I was a better photographer so that I could capture how this looks to the naked eye.  These pics don’t help.

Boosted it today too, but it was a little too hot.  CS3 might just be THE perfect product.  I used it to level the boost in a few streaky spots. Not a complaint against Boost; it was just toooo dang hot today.  I don’t think it’s possible to make CS3 streak or leave high spots.

I will also NOT be removing (non-ceramic) WW from my arsenal any time soon. WW replaced my glass cleaner a loonnnggg time ago. Today, I thought about using CWW on the glass to remove and level the Boost overspray on the glass. Nope, bad idea.  Streak City baby. Went back around with plain WW...perfect!

anywho...just my thoughts for the day. Stay safe in this heat.

stalebreadjr reacted to Norton in Stripe Decals when Polishing
An orbital polisher is exactly what you WANT to use since they're "random," by definition. Rotary polishers should be avoided.

FWIW, my 8-year old GT500 has matte-finish vinyl stripes and I HAVE used my orbital polisher on them with no ill-effects.  The "harshest" products I used to do so were white foam pads and Fine Machine Polish (when it was available). Doing so can remove minor blemishes, stains, water spots, etc.  Generally, however, I used a combination of VRT and Matte Detailer, both hand-applied. If you haven't seen it, this video provides great insight on caring for factory vinyl stripes.

I've since ceramic-coated the whole car, including the stripes, making maintenance a lot simpler.

stalebreadjr reacted to Norton in Using Wheel Cleaner on powder coated wheels?
The wheels on my C7Z are powdercoated. Like @BRZN, I use wheel cleaner on them with no problems.

The key is using the product correctly. It should never be applied to hot wheels, not in direct sunlight, and not allowed to dry on the wheels.  I work on one wheel-at-a-time, allowing the Tire & Rubber Cleaner a bit of contact time, but I limit Wheel Cleaner contact time and rinse completely when I'm finished agitating with Wheel Woolies, Boar's Hair Brush, and a Lug Nut Brush.

As usual, recommend testing the products on an inconspicuous area before applying them widely.

Wheels are a big one for me.

So first you need to really clean those bad boys up, including the barrels

heres a great kit to start https://adamspolishes.com/products/adam-s-ultimate-wheel-and-tire-kit

A machine would be great, but you can not always get all the nooks and crannies,  you can try this https://adamspolishes.com/products/adam-s-revive-fine-hand-car-polish

And then for your last step to protect them, there are many options,  The Spray coating is great and adds a ton of shine, Ceramic  Boost, or CS3 would also be great items, that add protection and gloss

On mine here, they were already coated , but once a year I have been using the Hand Polish, then Spray Coating,  and now I will maintain with the CS3.

i spent the day yesterday with my 21MM Swirl Killer and old trusty PC for 3” pad duty fixing the mess my local Chevy dealer left on  my SS. I totally brain farted on telling them NO WASHING the car so it went into the scratch tube. I felt sick when I went back to service department to pick it up and saw dirty water dripping off of it. 😳😥

Once I got home I pulled it in the garage as I didn’t want to see it in full sun.💔

I  could see the damage under the garage lights so off to the basement I went for supplies.  Adam’s Rinseless wash was used for preliminary cleaning. I clayed using ONR as a clay lube with Adam’s clay bar and clay mitt. Then it was polish time. Most came out with just one pass but I did need to compound the above section on the hood. Sadly this removed my application of Adam’s Coating so I used a competitor’s coating and topped it with Ceramic Boost both yesterday and today.

Today I saw the March forecast and it’s upper 40’s to upper 50’s for the next few weeks so off went the winter wheel/tires replaced by the summer wheel/tires. Wheels were coated with a competitor’s wheel coating last fall with Adam’s Tire Shine on the tires. During the winter I frequently hit the summer wheels with Adam’s Ceramic Boost so we’re good to go.

On a side note I’m done with that Chevy dealer but not because of the scratches.

First I discovered this morning that after they pulled the car into scratch tube they turned off my dash cam but turned it back on after they pulled it in to the service lane...  14 minutes later.   🤔

Second was the left rear lug nuts were all loose.   I discovered this today while changing the wheels. Their oversight could have ended tragically.

The first is suspicious the second is inexcusable.

I promise not to do this too often, but I'm just happy with how well Adam's products perform to help me do a good job. I have maybe 2 ounces in my sprayer and it's making these tires look brand new.  Nothing sees dirt and abuse more than these machines, who knows what kinds of muck this has on it!

No matter what I use as a drying aid, my technique is to start at the top and do a panel at a time.

    1. Starting with the roof, I do one side with the product, wipe it down with a Borderless Gray then go to the other side.  Once I complete the other side, I go back to the first and go over it with a single soft, then back to side two and go over it again with a single soft.
    2. The hood is next, doing one side with the aid, then the other followed by the single soft on each side.
    3. Starting with a fender, I go over the fender and door, then go back over both with a single soft, I continue doing two panels at a time. For the pickup box, I do one panel at a time.

After doing a few black vehicles recently, there are few items that I can recommend for getting best depth and shine.
First, I'm a wine drinker and prefer white wine, I ensure a bottle is chilled for when I'm done...

    Before pictures...

Rule #1, use the least aggressive method possible and determine that by having a test spot or two.  Don't be concerned if one area of the vehicle needs Compound, another Scratch and Swirl remove and another only needs Finishing polish.  I just had that situation on a black Jaguar.

Plan on two days, you really need to plan to have plenty of time and it is the most important thing you can plan for.  If you don't give yourself plenty of time to do the job right, there is no sense in starting it.

Don't chase perfection, it doesn't exist or at least rarely exists.  You can make it look great even with minor flaws that only you will know are there.  With black the flaws will be more noticeable, yet can still be acceptable within reason.

Have more pads than you think you need.  I generally use 4 pad of each type, per vehicle sometimes it is less and sometimes it is more.  When the pad gets fouled take a break, wash it out, and put it in the bucket for the full wash and grab a new one.

When you are all done, sit back, have a drink of you choice, wine, beer, soda, ice tea or whatever and admire your work and take pictures.

The very last thing is to post the pictures and your process so all the rest of us can admire your work.
